Dean Frost has come up with a proposal to generate extra funds needed to keep Ibrahim Kargbo, who is outside the existing playing budget.
The Club and Dean have agreed to auction two places for supporters to be part of the management team away to Eastleigh. This would involve:
Travelling down on team coach (VIP coach)
Joining team in changing and being part of experience
Joining the management team on the bench
Return journey on VIP coach
This is a great opportunity for supporters to get closer to the team. We have a very limited time to run this, so please can we have your bids by next Wednesday, 23 March, to matthewmein@googlemail.com

I do sympathise with Frost as Kargbo is a good player and I wonder whether there are any other players currently playing for free?
However if I were a potential sponsor I would be far from happy with the image this creates of a club with perpetual cash flow problems who have once again got the begging bowls out.

Considering I've bid, I would like to be free to comment, otherwise I'll retract my bid .. which appears to have been the only one at point of writing above.
As a WUSA member, where is the money gone that WUSA gave the club? Is no other WUSA member keen for an answer on that? Why are we having to resort to this offer? and is £85 going to make that much difference, if not, not much point really, I'll save it for BTB next season.

I assume you do understand the concept of a contract....i.e when you give someone a 38/44 week contract you are obliged to honour it in full.
I believe we currently have either injured and/or out of favour the likes of Fagan, Chambers, Osbourne, Adeyinka, Daniel, Vidal and Corne. On top of that I am led to believe that we paid off Wellard and I don't for one second think that KSA tore up his contract out of the goodness of his heart....
That is a lot of money of the current budget right there so it is understandable that the cupboard is bare.

I think he's asking about the extra money at the end of January
Wingnut, clearly I understand the concept of a contract yes. Although I don't doubt KSA didn't leave out of the goodness of his heart, clearly there must have been some saving otherwise for cash flow reasons we'd have been better paying him weekly than in a lump sum, like we are with the previous management trio.
My point, as Stoddy suggests, is regarding the WUSA money handed over. If some of this money was used to fund players like Tomi, as Polo as suggested above, then now he has left where is the money that would have gone to him being used? Why can it not be used for Kargbo and Bakare and/or anywhere Frost deems appropriate. Given it was £2400, and only 3-4 weeks back, are we to assume it has run out already?
More questions than answers, and I can't be bothered raising them anymore. If the member's of WUSA, including the committee members, who approved the money moving over aren't bothered, I bloody well can't be either. Might be worth going on that coach to the Eastleigh game, seems the only likely way of finding out.
However as Polo has suggested we have also recruited Gayle and Yussuf from Dagenham recently as well as Wanadio.
For argument's sake lets assume that we were very near to budget capacity when we recruited them and say they are on, conservatively, 200 quid a week each (or at least that is the portion we are paying)
Doesn't take long to get rid of £ 2,400 quid does it??
Yes, I agree. Let's hypothetical say those new signings had won us several games and we were now above the relegation line, I am sure we wouldn't be letting them all go and we'd "find the money". Is the club that poorly off that £85 quid is the difference?
Just amazed that Bakare is scoring goals, and Kargbo playing very well, and both doing so for free, and we risk losing them over relatively small amounts of money in the grand scheme of things. So frustrating.
Anyhow. I've made my bid. I hope others follow, otherwise as Chris says above, might do more harm than good.
If you would like it to be, just saying why post "oh only 1 bid, no others" why not be positive and build interest...lie if you have to, "oh loads of interest, could you be the lucky bidder". You guys make a effort to arrange something then seem negative about it yourself.
No serious question J, I am trying get bids, I am bloody shattered just completed a 20 mile charity walk. Update bid 1 is up to £85 and second place is bidding at £100

Surely the two highest bids get the two spots, otherwise we aren't getting the most money possible. Anything else is just defeating the object.

I am surprised as I would have thought the 2 highest bids would be the winners.
If we are going for ideas to generate funds, why not a pre season friendly of Fans vs Players at PVR. Squad of 16 fans. Top 16 bidders get a spot. Every bidder GUARANTEED atleast 45 minutes. Would build a relationship between fans and players which is recent months seems to have deteriorated and would also raise presumably a larger amount of funds.
I have nothing against this Management idea myself. As it would give two fans more of an insight of what goes on on matchday and would help them build a better picture of how things are dealt with in matchday preparations.
To WUSA committee taking bids in, please consider my £85 offer retracted. If the powers that be won't support the current manager with funds, I don't see why I should, and if fair and reasonable comments made on a fans forum aren't considered acceptable and are to be deleted, then my support will be withdrawn. My offer is as legally binding as my earlier comment libellous - not at all.
All the best to Frost, Ashby, Turner and the current playing squad.

This is a good idea for the end of the season rather than pre season.

Fair few people seem to be up for the idea of an "End of season Fans vs Players WUSA Fundraiser". Any chance someone at WUSA could see if the team would be willing to do this and take part?
I'm pretty sure someone looked into this before and it was a no-go due to the players not wanting to get kicked by people not overly good at football! Plus as soon as the season ends they normally go on holiday. I do like the idea but I think with the current situation and the end of season close it's probably not possible to do it this year, but we can try and put this forward to the management next season, whoever it is!
