Healy with a red card late on. Two quick yellows. Second for time wasting.

To be honest I had us down to lose the games against Bath and Braintree. So two hard earned points can only be a positive for me. Well done to the squad. Showing much more fight and spirit now. Lets start winning at home now

Best performance of the season in my opinion.
Tried to play football (finally)
Ok so it isn't going to work all the time, but the ball was played on the ground.
By doing so, allowed us to be a threat going forward, rather than trying to hit high balls to Tom all the time.
Thought the final substitution (No 12?) who come on up front looked good on the ball.
All in all, if they play like that every week, I will be happy.

6 points from the next two games and they will look like 2 decent away points.

An entertaining match all round that could have gone either way. Braintree are a very good passing team. I feared for us when we went one down, despite a decent strike but Monakana scored with a lovely strike and we held on for a great point. Also nice to see Christie Pattison get a start and I thought he done ok.

Now we need to be looking for a couple of back to back wins to push us up the table before the FA Cup tie.

Good performance, I hate to blame refs on not winning games but the standard gets worse every week. He's missed the most blatant back pass ever and bottled giving a pen in the last minute, if it was down the other end it would of been given.
Dillon we need to keep hold of, some really good saves again. Jebb in the hole played well, calm on the ball...instead of chasing flick ons brad would benefit from him being there.
Apart from a 10/15 min spell in second half the players really dug in and worked for it against a good side.

Fantastic point, Braintree will be challenging for title, they looked very good going forward. Our boys gave everything and threw themselves in to make blocks. Stunning goal from Monakana and Braintree cleared one off the line late having missed two open goals and hit the post. Games like that last season we would have lost 4 or 5-1.

Now lets get some points vs Poole who got smashed at home today and then Whitehawk. We had no strikers today and played the best team we have faced this season and battled for a point. Well done to all the players.

Not really....Just looking at the table!......We have one win and a point above relrgation places.....that is a poor start to the season and I am pretty sure Jamie C would agree. I am sure we played well and that a point away at Braintree is a good one....I have seen three games so far and it is tough right now....I suppose it is a case of where we see ourselves.....mid to lower table or mid to upper table....

Need wins on the board soon...Poole and Whitehawk are a start .....

I'd have to agree Mark, it's been a poor start that could have been so much better if chances had been turned into goals & if referees had been a bit better. But we've now a good chance to win the next 2 matches which should lift us away from the drop zone that seems to have been our home for so long.

First and foremost I will pay tribute to Braintree (never thought I would every say that!) I saw more football from them last night than i have seen in countless other matches against them. They were quicker, hungrier and, dare I say, much fitter than us last night. Best team I have seen us play this season without a doubt so testament to our lads for holding on for a point.

Clearly we were without a strike force last night but they doesn't excuse the pitiful effort we saw from some at times. It may seem churlish to criticise Monakana after his great strike and he did play the first half an hour in an unfamiliar position but he did nothing to help his team out at all when they were under pressure and didn't hold the ball up once that i can recall. I was a fan of Pattison in pre-season and felt he should be given more of a chance to stake a claim for a first team spot but last night he was poor and his performance didn't exactly scream "pick me" at any point in the game. Without wishing to offend the Nanetti fan club on here I was told at school that you track your runners and stay goal side of them rather than set off in pursuit of them when they are already 20 yards in front of you. He might well have had a penalty at the death (and many of us thought it was) but if you throw yourself to the ground as theatrically and as frequently as he does, don't be surprised if the referee turns a blind eye on the one occasion that he does get fouled...Macklin, who by all accounts struggled at Bath, showed more as a lone striker in 20 minutes last night than anyone else before him in the previous 70 minutes!

I felt for the other lads at times who must have felt like they were taking on Braintree with eight men at times. Dymond had a tough first half and lost his bearings a few times but recovered well and both he and Jefford did well under pressure in the second half - they had to as they got precious little protection from the people in front of them. I thought Phipps, Jebb and Healy worked tirelessly in midfield for little reward but that does not excuse the sending off........at best stupid....at worst downright brainless. The keeper and two centre halves all did well under considerable pressure and that was the best game I have seen from Parky by some distance since his return.

Now we have two home games where we need to kick on although I think we said that after Oxford away game and before the Hampton home game........Hopefully we can bring in a forward or two to bolster the ranks short term but we seriously need to consider the formation that we are putting out and get far more output from our wide players whoever is selected. We are going to have more than one suspension to deal with as well soon and that is worrying before we have even reached the middle of September.

Up the Wings!

Agree with all the above.
Macklin had a good game on his appearance and would be my pick up front for Saturday.
More football on the floor please.
This may be a given not having the tall guy up front to aim at

Personally thought Jack Parkinson was outstanding! Think results will come. Bit more cutting edge in front of goal and I think will climb that table in no time.

On the way to the game I said I wanted an improved performance, more passing on the ground and a possible point courtesy of maybe a pen (with no recognised strikers up top).

We delivered on all fronts with Parky playing well and Nanetti may have had a pen late on. Wouldn't like to have seen it the other end though as the ref started to lose it - he was blowing up to stop the game when a player just had a slight knock - I think he just liked giving drop balls (because his clearly hadn't).

Better tempo to the team than I last saw and I don't think we're as bad as our league position suggests.

When I saw that Brad Quinton had taken over, I expected a very Borg like style to continue but they turned out to be the best footballing Braintree Town I've ever seen. They were also the best team that Welling have played against this season, far superior to Chelmsford. Anyone who finishes above them will have a good shout at winning the league.

Therefore, it was definitely a point gained. They will say that they can't believe that they haven't won but we have had two or three of those this season, and the way we dug in and defended well (albeit with a bit of luck when they hit the post) merited the point.

Why people only post anything when we don't win is beyond me.

I usually post (win, lose or draw) regarding games that I have actually been at.

As we have only won 1 out of 9 so far this season, the messageboard would be pretty quiet if people only posted when we won!

I know you do. It wasn't aimed at you. This messageboard was very quiet when we beat Hungerford.
