No official word from the club but just saw this on Twitter:

Its been an incredible year and a half with @wellingunited I joined a club in bottom 3 of @TheNationalLge South with no academy. I leave with a top 10 @TheNationalLge South place secured & a thriving @WellingAcademy. Met some amazing people & made some lasting memories #wings

Didn't see this coming to be honest. Wonder if it's a budget thing and a bit of a luxury to have a director of football at our level?

I know Mark Goldberg has said in the past about how much work Tristan did behind the scenes and great the academy has now taken off. Good luck to him.

Maybe with Coylie keen on managing and playing less then there was no need for a DOF at the club and with Tristan handing over the academy he launched for us to the new mob he is seeking a new challenge. Ive never seen anyone want to win so much and keep on at the players to try on the pitch. Good luck big man wherever you end up and is not a huge shock if you lock horns with the Wings next season.

FA Youth Cup second round with a brand new academy is some achievement too.

Loyal
RMW & Olu,
Shouting
Nike
Youth Academy
FA CUP
DOF upstairs or on the touchline.
Probably saved the rookie two this year when they went on the run of no wins in 6...or 9 (whatever it was) matches.

Good luck wherever football takes him......

As good as he is I hope they are they are looking for better and we keep him. They have just released luke Rooney, Bricknell, watt and Foley who would walk into any team in this league...unless they are cutting the budget.

Seen postings on other forums that Tamplin has cut the budget for next season.

I suspect the cut budget still exceeds ours by a long way! Incidentally Squarevanman, is the newly decorated manager's office in the old stand ( thanks to Gary and Danny for their work)? When was the last time that a Wings manager had a designated office - I'm guessing Jody Brown or Ade Pennock?

I heard Jody Brown had posters of Sol Campbell on the wall....

Wheeler and Lewis.......not exactly Clough and Taylor is it.

I would have thought someone would have whispered in Tamplin's ear by now that, whatever the budget may be, he still should spend a bit of it getting a decent/proven manager in to succeed at this level of football

Penn & Teller springs to mind....

Good luck to him, done quite a bit for us in all fairness and wheeler must of done something right to last as long as he has but still a big risk to take working for tamplin.

Yes the office is between the first aid room and programme shop. I cannot think of a designated managers office in my short time at Welling. Agree about the budget probally triple or even more than ours.

Yes he just about got a team over the finishing line with a budget probably 5 x as big as anyone else in the division....well done him!

Lewis skill set is in the youth system/academy area (something he acknowledged himself) - however I don't blame him at all for jumping on the bandwagon while it lasts...

Tamplin said in an interview he was cutting the playing budget to 10K a week for next season....
