According to Jack on Twitter he has left the club, stating that he wishes to play and be a part of the management team which isn't available at welling under the new regime, he has the opportunity to do it elsewhere.

I've known Jack for many years and he has always called Welling United his club. Many thanks to him for all his efforts last season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back at the club in some capacity in the future.

Bit of a shame. I hope he does not end up at Dartford or Woking.

Shame Jack has been "let go". Am sure he will be back as manager one day.

Lets hope King brings in someone decent to replace him as a coach and as a player if he thinks he can get better.

Both contracted, as well as Connor D. No doubt somebody will tell me it counts for nothing. Need a good fee for Adam Coombes if he goes - new Woking manager is a fan.

As the Ghost etc says, there needs to be a good if not better replacement.

It does seem to be a case of of the manager wants them too. Wouldn't be surprised to see Jack Jebb go. He signed while Coyle was manager then has seen the manager,  DOF, players and now the player coach go in a matter of days. Connor Dymond is signed as well... Although does that mean anything.

Not sure why the contracted players will need convincing to stay at a team that will play better football next season.
...more they have to convince the manager they are worth it.

Power still rests with the club holding the contracts, if they wish to use it. I would think Steve King could be quite stubborn and totally frustrate prospective clubs if he does not get what he wants or if he wants to keep players and hold them to their contracts.  I see some Dartford fans think they can pick up Adam Coombes with whatever compensation they get for Pavey- talk about cloudcuckoo land, they would need to part with much more than that plus I would like to think that hell would freeze over before MG allows that. Sparks will fly. Also, the connection with Coombes is not so much Coyle but MG.

Alfie Pavey is out of contract, so there will be no fee involved for whoever he signs for.  Adam is however under contract, so we could/would demand a fee if he moves before the end of 2018/2019 season.

They claim that Alfie is aged under 23 and thus they get a fee for his development - good luck with that then. On that basis we should put in for a month - but it is ridiculous considering  Maidstone and Millwall did most of the development!

Coyle didn't even want Coombes, so not sure how he would go dirtford.

I tweeted in response to the Pavey wanting to leave dirtford story,

"Why would he want to play for a manager that binned him for someone who hadn't played a game of football for a year". Pavey himself liked my tweet, tells you all you need to know there.

The 'like' was probably more for the fact that he wasn't getting a game rather than the additional latter part.

Returning to the actual point of this thread, I am sorry that Jack Parkinson is going. However the team is moving in a different direction. Last season there was a lot of recruitment of people with an affinity for the club with Jack, Jamie Coyle, Ben Jefford and Christian Nanetti all returning. This time around, it looks like we are starting again with an entire new management squad and I would expect the majority of the squad will be different.

I hope that Jack can find a club that will give him the opportunity to coach as well as to play and I would not be at all surprised to see him back at PVR as manager one day in the future.

Yep agreed but yet again it will take 10 games to start to gel!

The only time we did well...won the league we had stability

Yes sorry to see Jack following so many others out of the door and disappointing that we start yet another season with a whole new set up. We cannot afford to spend the first two or three months of the season with the team getting to know one another. Fortunately I dont believe the new management will let that happen.

If players who are contracted go or players from last season aren't wanted ... then its the managers choice to start with a completely new squad, Can't be using that as an excuse and going on about time to gel etc.

Jack Parkinson is the only contracted player who has been allowed to go since Steve King took over, and that appears to be more as a coach than as a player. If non contracted players choose not to return how can the new manager be blamed? Four loanees, Joe Healy and Ben Jefford were always going to go and once Jamie Coyle went, Callum Driver was always going to follow. That's eight out of sixteen gone, not of the new manager's making.

Jack was asked to stay as a player by Steve King, however the coaching is something he wanted to continue with and he has been offered that opportunity elsewhere.

Sorry, if I didn't make that clear.

It appears that Bradley Goldberg is also on contract according to this:

Good luck to Jack with his coaching career. That has always been important to him and, if there is no vacancy to continue with that at PVR and he has to go elsewhere then so be it.

I am sure our paths will cross again and he may well be back in the dugout at PVR in the future but if he wants to be a number one then, in my humble opinion, he needs to develop a much thicker skin..

Well after a flurry of a bit underwhelming signings (yes they may be good but a risk) was hoping for some more by now....

Once more, to bring things back on track, Jack Parkinson has now joined Concord Rangers as player coach.

Out of the four signed players maybe one a risk with limited games.

At least a keeper signed and that was a risk all last season considering the circumstance.

Well with the new signings hes brought in, together with the remaining contracted players, Id guess that hes got enough of a squad to now fill in the gaps with guys given match time in the friendlies, but Id have preferred the warm up matches to be used to gel the squad together before the serious stuff starts.

But there is still time, after all were told hes got a very good contact list.

A lot of players' contracts end on 1st June, so perhaps we will see some movement in after that. A more pressing issue, in as far as existing and prospective players commitment is concerned, is the announcement of Steve King's management team/back-room staff which was thought likely they would have in place before last weekend.

Steve King doesn't need a backroom team, hes the best manager at this level FACT and has the best record FACT, you wont hear him continuously mention its the hardest ever conference south this year or Welling have cut their budget FACT.

I welcome Steve King but in fact he has already mentioned this will be the hardest ever Conference South this year (not sure I agree with that) and of course he needs a backroom team (he's planning one).
