I think now is the time we should have kept hold of the likes of Guesty (could play left back right back or in the centre and one or two others we let go before Christmas. The squad is looking a bit thin!!
Lewis did play right back. Defence always looked shakey against the pace of their attack, Hyde should of done better with their first goal. Good build up for our goal, Moore was in the right place at the right time. At times we had some good passing moves but the end product wasn't good enough, Harper seems like he's got his mind on something else. Phil Handford was sent to the stands as well, unfortunatly, can anyone explain why? At the end of the day, the better team won, atleast we can focus on the league! Come on you Wings!!!

It could have been so different had the linesman flagged for a penalty at 1-0. The ref was right on the spot too and turned away. At 2-0 it could have been a different scoreline. I don't know what you have to do to get a penalty nowadays. Shoot someone maybe.
Their third goal was controversial too. The ball was clearly swerved out when the ball was passed down the line. Even the guy that kicked it was berating himself. The linesman (Blind Pugh) didn't look up and didn't give it.
Blind Pugh even had to be helped out by the fourth official who pointed out that Grays No. 10 shouldn't have rejoined the pitch after injury without permission. He was an absolute joke and I would have expected better at such an important game.
First half I think we edged it but full marks to Grays who kept plugging away and in the end deserved their win albeit 1-4 flattered them. Good luck to them for the rest of the season.
At times we seemed bereft of ideas of what to do in terms of getting the ball forward. Keds got little service but was a little hot headed at times. Thinkn Grays deserved the win but the score line flattered.
Still great for the boys to have got us this far. Next week is Bognor( jolly boys outing for me and an overnight in a hotel after beers and a curry) and lets hope the boys can turn it around from the losing run. They still deserve much plaudits to have got us to where we are and if you would have offered me this at the start of the season I would have grabbed it with both hands.
Well done Ade and the team you have done us proud so far
I can agree that we should be very proud of the lads this season, but I was left feeling annoyed yesterday due to the performance of 3/4 players who were not good enough. I am not going to name names as I know some read this and hopefully they will be disappointed with their perfomances anyway. But there were several players who regularly gave the ball away when not under pressure. Either straight to an opponent or straight into touch. You can't do that against anyone especially against a copnference side. We made it too easy for them. We need to pull it together for the run in for the rest of the season or I fear that we will be going the same way as last season.
I think your judgment of the game is probably set by whether you thought we could win or would win. If you thought we would win you are probably disappointed, if you thought we could win you probably think we put up a decent performance but the gulf in class/fitness/speed of thought/raw cash between the two clubs\leagues showed through.
My guess is it has been very informative to Adie to see who is up to Conference National standard in terms of pace\thought and skill should we be fortunate enough to go up and he will have learnt plenty, along with us getting another cash boost from a very good crowd.
On the whole I'd say the only thing thus far we have to be really disappointed about this season is the Clevedon game, but maybe that got us to where we were in the league a couple of weeks ago.
Given we have spent most of the last 15 years counting those below us at this stage rather than above I'd guess we'd all settle for the progress thus far but wish to see it built on to achieve something tangible.
I thought we could win but wasn't too disappointed in the end - they were simply too good for us. At least it wasn't a dodgy pen, poor officials etc etc.
Thing that surprised me was the difference between Tamworth & Grays. Grays looked far, far better than Tamworth all over the pitch and can't see how they're struggling (unless there are some very good sides in the conference?).
You are quite right Grays were far superior to Tamworth - especially going forward. Their movement and understanding was quality - mind you they are full time. I thought they were more vulnerable at the back and if we could have put more pressure on them then there were goals in it for us.
