See Kent Online but is unhappy at being played in midfield

Apparently now linked with Thurrock

Ade has brought in Hector Mackie and a bloke called Fish on loan

Not available tonight

Blimey, surprised and that and a shame.

Hector Mackie looked a fairly confident when he played for about 10 minutes for us last season, will be interesting to see how he does.

I wish him well but his finishing form this season has not been a testament to unseat the current occupants of the striking positions.

Good news and Bad news in my opinion.

Bad news being that we are now entering a crucial stage in the season and we need all the players we can get.
Good news being that I'm glad he's gone. If he wern't happy it would of obviously rubbed off on other team members and also he would of lacked the commitment to do well for the club. Also his finishing has been poor this season as well as last.

Good luck in the future though Che.

'Vanishing' fans urged to get behind Wings

By Matthew Panting
Welling v Lewes

WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has issued a rallying cry to the club's supporters.

Only 192 fans turned out at Gravesend's Stonebridge Road on Thursday night for the defeat to Thurrock in Conference South.

It compounded the club's financial problems as they have to play all their remaining midweek games away from Park View Road.

The Wings are enjoying their best period since relegation from the Nationwide Conference and Pennock has called on the club's fans to support them in numbers.

"I was really disappointed with the attendance on Thursday and I'm sure the directors were as well," said Pennock.

"We could have gone joint third had we won but maybe our fans were more interested in watching Eastenders.

"I'm asking the fans to really get behind us now. We need them to be our 12th man in every game we play.

"They've been fantastic all season up to now but we need them more than ever for the run-in.

"There are tired legs in our squad, they need a lift and that means vocal encouragement from first minute to last.

"We need every Welling fan to come on Saturday, bring a mate, their kids or their gran and make some noise."

The Wings face a daunting task against big-spending Lewes, who have hit form in the latter part of the season.

Pennock looks set to hand a debut to new signing Joe Bruce, who arrived from Basingstoke just 30 seconds before the 5pm transfer deadline on Thursday.

Hector Mackie may also be involved but a deal for Crystal Palace's Matt Fish fell through at the 11th hour due to financial reasons.

The Wings have also signed Dartford pair Eddie McClements and Steve Norman on dual registrations with Andrew Sam and Keith Rowland signing Ryman League forms for the Darts.

The players are expected to remain with their respective clubs this weekend but there is scope in the deal for movement between now and the end of the season.

PENNOCK: "I was really disappointed with the attendance..."

Do people really think that 200 odd peps at Gravesend on a Thursday night is not good enough?

What could be done to encourage more upporters to the game. I was going to try to make it, but the trains home were fcuked, it was proper cold ... and ye Eastenders was on.

Perhaps some coaches from pvr for a fiver might have helped. Welling have a lot of supporteres who walk to the ground and they are not going to trek down to Gravesend on a cold wet night. If they play like they did last night they will be lucky to get 100 for the next game!! I imagine that a lot of the people that went were season ticket holders so money at the gate would be very low and will not have paid for the hire of the ground. The lack of floodlights is going to have a serious impact on Ade's plan for next year, no matter what league we are in.

I must admit last night watching the game I had a lot of sympathy for jgfc. We do lack ambition - our commercial department in particular is very poor. I popped in to watch Bromely recently and every square inch of the ground is covered in advertising. Somebody went out and drummed up this business. We shouldn't be struggling and relying on the fans to dig deeper into their pockets to pay for the floodlights.

Having said that I was disapointed to hear Ade getting a lot of stick from a couple of people.

How can Adie get stick? Hes never been given a contract, He goes everywhere watching games. I would guess he isnt on a fortune either. He has had the budget reduced 3 times at least!!

What backing has he had from the clubs owners? He wheels in players on a shoestring, misses out on others as he wont go over budget. All he wants is the adminustration run correctly and the commercial side adequate... NOT GREAT or HUGE BUDGETS but ADEQUATE!!!

And then he gets players like Stadhart with no balls who say he doesnt want to play in midfield. WELL CHE!!! if you had scored when playing upfront you would still be there!!

If Adie goes next year we are fecked!! As players will go too...

The club CHOSE to have all the fixtures in the last 2 months. The Club could have had lights installed they have had a wedge from the trophy and money from cup.. All they had to do was get West ham or someone down fo the shortfall!! Not drive, Ambition, or Clue im afraid

the Club choose to have a sh it commercial department.

How can anyone slag off Adie , Phil or the players that remain? One of them played with a serious illness last week and risked himself making it worse.

The players and management are busting their balls!! Its not over and their heads should be raised.

I see no one pledged a nifty IF the wings got in the play offs... must be people who run buinesses read this willing to offer a carrot for out taken for granted players. WHO LOST the training ground for one night a week !!

FFS When will the club act professionally and give the players and fans a chance... I dont mean go all in and risk the club i mean get your act together and stop cutting corners. Put the hours in do the leg work. BACK THE MANAGER and the PLAYERS. Do the administration for players CORRECTLY.

Its not the players that make us play 3 times a week when they are exhausted. And no matter what Mark says like "its all in hand" its FKN NOT!!! Off the pitch is a shambles with no sign of improvement , We are shooting ourselves in the foot.

I hope Barrie either sells up FAST or lets people like Steve Holly and Alan Robinson and Steve Pain have a proper say for a proper investment. Cos i just see it going tits up and if it does you can only blame certain people im afraid and that is most definately NOT Adie or any of his staff.

And no its NOT JgFc slagging of the club its Jgfc wiping the sh it out of peoples eyes.

IF YOU ONLY KNEW THE HALF OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no knowledge which points you're right on and which you're not JgFc. I like others probably agree with some of your points but I don't think it's the right time to bring this one up again.

I don't know the ins and outs but I thought we had to wait for a decision from the football foundation regarding the grant before we could go ahead which would explain the delay - no businessman in their right mind would turn down the opportunity to get half of the cost paid for.

I partly agree with Ade regarding the attendance, but I do think a cold wet night at Gravesend is ever going to draw a decent crowd, and Welling certainly haven't done themselves any favours putting in the performances they have over the last two games.

The idea of coaches from PVR makes perfect sense, I don't know why the club haven't tried this, and let's hope they do for future games. Some kind of incentive to bring additional people would be a good one, as I assume our costs are fixed anyway.

I hope the new signings will gee everyone up. Irrespective of the performances I for one will be getting 100% behind the boys for every game til the end of the season.

Graham, So we should have put the lights in and given ourselves the best chance... OR not put them in and risk players being knackered and still no lights...

And as for not the right time. It will always be the right time until the club shape up.

These off field problems haunt the club. Commercialy and admin wise we are shocking.

i will not embarras Barrie by posting a few things as thats not on. BUT We have to shape up as its costing us dearly .

I dont always agree with jgfc but I have to this time. The whole floodlight situation is a fkn shambles. By not sorting it ASAP it has now come back to bite us on the arse. The players were all fkd in the second half last night. They will be even worse come 4.30 ish on Saturday. Several of them have knocks which have no time to heal. Making the play offs will now be a minor miracle if you ask me. It is such a shame because Adie.Phil and this team deserve a play off place. We have been in the top 5 all season. It will be a injustess if Mid table Braintree creep in at the last knockings.  Even worse Lewes

I believe that the events of the last week show just how high a mountain Ade and his team have to get the players to climb to achieve a play off place.

The ins and outs of how the backlog of games arose is probably best left until the season is considered as a whole when Im sure that there will be lessons to be learned.  For the present time we have to look to the gargantuan task that faces Ade and the players if they are to achieve a play off place.

As far as Che walking out is concerned I am very disappointed with him and believe that he should have seen the season out albeit that he had to play in a midfield role.  However Ade has always said that he only wants players who want to play for the team and since Che obviously decided that he wasnt a team player its probably as well that he went although I think he owed Ade for the public support he gave him a while back.  I could not in all honesty criticise his work rate but as JgFc has said if he had been putting away the goals he would have been part of the strike force and not moved into a midfield role.

As far as players go it would seem that we are back in last years scenario with Ade needing to get players in because of the small size of his squad but having only peanuts in terms of what he can offer.  This means he can only bring in players unable to maintain a place in their existing teams who are unlikely to be match fit and untested players from lower divisions in the hope that he can turn them into Conference South players overnight.  I really cant believe that an 18 year old former Crystal Palace youth team captain who has been released was asking for the world in terms of wages to keep himself playing for the rest of the season.

Last night the team looked very jaded, understandably so with it being their 3rd match in 6 days but that is the schedule they have to maintain for another 3 weeks.  Keds was head and shoulders above all in the amount of effort he put in though Daisy would come a fairly close second.  It would have been a just reward if Keds shot late on had been just a couple of inches lower rather than hitting the crossbar.  We experienced once again the all too familiar exploitation of the right side of our defence and unless Ade can bring in a right back, which I believe Fish was, I fear that a play off place is most unlikely.  As far as bringing players in from the U18s it is great for them in terms of their development but they are not used to playing the boot through the ball into the channels.

I fear that having been frustrated in terms of the lack of a moderate amount of extra funding to enable the squad to be strengthened and realistically go for promotion for the second consecutive year Ade will decide to call it a day as far as PVR is concerned.  If this happens I also expect several players may join him.  The long and the short of it being that they have more ambition than it appears the Club have.

I too would like Mark to expand on his comment

Oh save me!!!

Yet again wrong on several points.

Those posting have put their view of the situation in very clear terms, how about putting some meat on your comments Mark!!!!  After all you may have seen the light that none of the posters has been able to see!!!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: 'Yellow-belly Stadhart let me down' - Pennock
By Tim Ashton
Comment

Che Stadhart has left without the manager's blessing
WELLING United boss Adrian Pennock has labelled Che Stadhart 'yellow-bellied' and 'selfish' for leaving when he was needed the most.

The striker was granted permission to join Thurrock on Monday after telling Pennock he was unhappy in his role in the Wings team.

But with his former teammates facing a gruelling schedule of must-win games to clinch a play-off place and personnel stretched to the limit, Pennock says Stadhart has let them all down.

He said: "Che told me Monday night he was not happy because he wants to play centre forward rather than playing as the attacking midfielder.

"At that time, we were in the play-offs on a good run and I said it was a very selfish thing to do.

"He told me he was not enjoying winning games so I told him he could go in no uncertain terms."

advertisement
Pennock was equally unamused when Stadhart, sat with his new teammates last night, as Thurrock beat Welling 2-1.

He said: "He was not allowed to play but he was sitting in the stand with his new teammates.

"Che is a bit of a yellow-belly and when things get tough for him he jumps ship all the time.

"I am disappointed because I have looked after him and he has let me and the whole club down."

The run-in to the end of the season is tough and Pennock knows everything has to be spot on to succeed.

He said: "He has let me down but the biggest thing is he has let the players down and I don't want any unrest in the changing room.

"And for him to tell me three days before the transfer deadline makes it very difficult to replace him.

"I have been let down by him big time. So I am just annoyed, the boy has a lot of front and I say let him get on with it, it is no skin off my nose."

Er ... mate ... we're fourth.

And don't have a pop at us just cos your club cant get half a set of floodlights up.

re the vanishing fans....it was Gravesend on a Thursday night - say no more! Perhaps if the powers that be put a bit more effort in like the players/manager & fans more people would have made the trek. It's a bit embarrassing that our season could be undone by some dodgy floodlights that went kaput months ago. Home games obviously aren't home games when played at another ground so we lose that advantage. We are good enough for a playoff spot and the teams above bar one or two are all susceptible to a dip in results so........sort it out.

re Che....tried to like the bloke who has had his moments for us, however, overall he just is not good enough and on occasions has looked very poor.

Up te Wings
