That performance tonight was clueless, inept, and simply wrong with regards to tactics.
We have a striker (keds) that spends most of his time on the wing trying to get the ball - we have no one else to put the ball in the net - we are a hoof it team right now!!! 3 goals in 5 games is shocking - Adie has I am afraid lost the plot. We play Carths in a full back position with Good fellow on the bench we have an exciting forward in Tucknot(?) and leave him on the bench. Substitutions tonight when we are behind include Des Boetang, Good fellow etc etc hardly inspiring is it!! Who looked the team fighting relegation - yes us Basingstoke wanted it we didn't - **** mine - here we are in a play off position and we have totally blown it - we have not played well for weeks - we have ground out results but have been shocking - We start with Keds and Harper up front and find them most of the time on the wing - Just like Arsenal in the 90's - if Ian Wright didn't score then arsenal lost - same as us!!!
We frankly are not goood enough - We have flattered to deceive I am afraid - Basingstoke are NOT a good side but they made us look like total ****e!!!
Adie - Where is plan B - We have not got a clue at the moment and I feel it co incides with Bod leaving - we have not replaced him - Harper was woefull Carths is not a full back. The only players for me that came out with any credit are Lewis and Chris Moore.
I will also say that we looked disinterested - I can't beleive that but hey!! maybe true. i am disgusted with the game tonight - Welling United team owe us a game - I don't know if we can still make it but all I can say is get 6 points and lets see.
Sorry Adie - Look at the fans tha travel week in week out and let us know what the issue is - It is shocking!!!! -
Danny kedwell is short on confidence or is thinking about next season and his new vlub - I don't know but for ****s sake give us two wins and lets see
What about the person whos made us play the games all together, why were all the games pushed back to april from november??
why wernt they spread out? Tell you what mark... you work double or treble the hours your supposed to for 2 months and see if your performance is good every day.
And Mark you say all behind the team and you post that with 2 games left??
I suppose none of this is Barries fault? fck me do you all get brainwashed LMFAO!!!
Its not over yet... What a fcking awful post Mark! Did Barrie pay you to make it??

I have to say this made me laugh. I haven't see the Wings that much this season, but made the slep down to Dartford last night. Given that Welling are in a good position, have it in their hands to make the playoffs I was slightly disappointed with what I saw. The only shot on target was from Keds in the second minute and Ellis couldnt turn the lose ball in the net. After that it was huff and puff and launch a ball, then launch another. The only player who tried to bring it down was Mackie who was the first player taken off!!!! Basingstoke were up for it as they are fighting a relegaion battle, and in Joe Dolan they had player who would be the sort of player that Welling should try and nick.
Going into a playoff place I thought you had to hit the ground running. You have to be at the top of your game. This is surely not the case. Playing at Gravesend and Dartford haven't helped, but I fear that it will be another what if season.
I think this is not the time for jgfc to go on about Ownership. It igores the fact that last night was awful. Mark is right, the players have to look at themsleves and see if they want it. They need a kick up the arse and if Mark is part of giving it to them, then fair enough. All the teams have had lots of games to play in the last few weeks - we aren't alone in that. Some of the players last night were not up for it and the team selection and substitutions were a mystery to me. We did very little well last night but the good moments were often down to Mackie and as Riscardo said he was first off, whilst others who only contribution was to give the ball back to the opposition stayed on. Goodfellow on the bench? Bloke has done alright recenlty.
We are still 100% behind the team and will be there to cheer them on at Bedford (will you jgfc?) but we can't have more of the same as last night
Must add that last nite was very disappointing in all areas and left be very shocked that a team who i believe is not as good as the one we had last is throwing it away again. Some of the slagging off last nite became personal from the supporters and funny how its from supporters who are not there week in week out.
Tactics last nite well it seem to me that adie wanted 4-4-2 and wasnt changing from that which fell down when Leon failed a fitness diary but Carths struggled all nite at left back and i felt sorry for him and even when we went 2down why not change to a 3-5-2 carths back in the middle and go for it but there was none of that and that was the worrying thing.
Im not going to discuss budgets as we have no control over that but do think that our club could be in for shake up very soon. Im sure barrie, adie & phil will be considering there futures over the summer.
Im not going to slag off players but its time to stand up and roll up your sleeves and produce again like what we did at stortford away and fisher at home do this for the last 5games to get us up.
Enough has been said here. yes last night we were awful, deviod of ideas and any form of plan. Whichever way shape or form for all the people who have followed the team through the season, now is not the time to start. Lets go for the win for the next two games and get behind the team until the end of the season.
I saw enough expressions written on supporters faces last night. If we feel bad imagine how Adie and the players feel. Yep maybe they owe us a performance but we need to be with them at this time and pulling in the same direction.
I was absolutely gutted last night and this was made 10 times worse by Marks post laying into Ade.Having slept on it I feel more able to comment in what is hopefully a more objective manner than last night.
First I have to say that I have 100% respect for Ade and the players who have done Welling proud this season and this overrides whatever criticisms there may be in the post by the time I finish writing it.Last night they looked as gutted as I felt.
Lets start with Ade.His knowledge and experience of the game I would suggest is far greater than any of our fans.He certainly knows the players far better than we do and he started with what was in his informed opinion was the best 11 for this particular match.Had he had a full squad to choose from I have absolutely no doubt the starting 11 would have been different but he had to cut his cloth.Football is a game of opinions and I would have liked to have seen Sam Tucknott start and many would perhaps have liked to see Mark Goodfellow start rather than have Martin Carthy playing in a totally alien role but at the end of the day Ade made his decision.
We started like an express train but after 20 minutes or so wed run out of coal and hadnt got the vital goal.Basingstoke were taking a firm hold on the match and a desperate Ade started tinkering but nothing he tried paid off and the number of adjustments he made probably had a negative effect looking at it in the cold light of day.
Ade is a straightforward, honest and from the pure footballing aspect tells it how he sees it - I await his comments with some interest.
As far as the players go it was a bad day at the office. They looked jaded, didnt win the ball nearly enough (and when they did they couldnt keep it), and they were consistently thwarted by Basingstokes defence (Searle was virtually redundant for the last 85 minutes or so.)We are entitled to express our views on their performance in a particular match but we also have to remember what they have achieved this season, only 2 dire matches which I have seen, and ask ourselves why the performance was so bad.
I would suggest that:
They have had too many games in a short space of time This was their 4th game in 9 days and Basingstokes 3rd in 9 days. 1 game less in 9 days may not sound a lot but ask any athlete how much an average additional recovery day between games means in terms of a schedule like that.
With such a small squad the availability of players allowed for very little in the way of options.
Those who know me and with whom I have discussions about Welling United know that I have been saying for some considerable time that we have been punching above our weight. This in my opinion has been due to the team ethic and the mutual respect and loyalty between Ade and the players and their shared ambition.
Let us remember too that we werent the only side out on the pitch last night and this match was just as important to Basingstoke too as they fight to retain their place in the Conference South.Credit is due to them for their performance, they had pace to burn in attack and defended solidly.Though it is possible to question why Surey had the opportunity to, as it turned out, effectively kill the game off in the 49th minute with the second goal it has to be said that if wed scored it people would have been waxing lyrical about it.
I agree with much of what JgFc posted but I do not feel that now is the time to be raising off the field matters.
To sum up in my opinion last night we played badly and Ade in his desperation got it wrong but the fat lady hasnt sung yet.We need to put last night behind us and let Ade and the players know that we are 100% behind them and give them all the support we can in the next 2 games.

I just dont see how Mark can rip into Adie and some of the players , when some will be carrying knocks, We have a very small squad and a poor budget. The players through no fault of their own have been playing too many games in a short space of time for too long.
Slagging them off like that does no good... Try going upto them in the bar Mark and saying "Im MarkX"

I certainly wouldn't go up to Ade or one or 2 of the players and tell them they were "inept, clueless, had no plan B, were total ****e" without expecting a right hook to the jaw. They really hurt last night and if I were in their shoes it wouldn't take much to spark me off.

I agree with most comments that have been made by all. Everyone person that pays week in week out is entitled to their opinion, and no matter what is said on here I believe the supporters get behind the team 100% at the games.
Whilst mouthing off about player may upset some people, personal slanging matches are worse in my mind.
Last night was poor, we all know that. 100% behind the team and lets put in a couple of performances to show how good we can be - hopefully with Leon and Bruce back we should be able to improve things at the back.
We all have our views and say things in the heat of the moment as we all know dont we people. Mark is a passionate welling fan who travels all over the country and like us all last nite was very upset at the performance
Very true. We should put last night behind us and get behind the team Saturday. Last week at Histon was probably the best away support i've seen and heard this season (haven't been to all the away games admittedly). If we could generate the same noise and enthusiasm then hopefully the players will respond.
Thought the number 5 Dolan was class for them last night and completely nullifed our hoofs to Kedwell. Wouldn't mind it if he decided to join up with Bruce for us.
Will be interesting Saturday as Keds absolutely slaughtered their centre back at PVR and we won 5-0. Think the blokes name was Hoyte. If he can get at him again this weekend then we should get a result.
I wasn't at the game on Tuesday night, so can't comment on the performance.
I think there are a number of factors that have combined to put us in this position. I said a couple of weeks ago that I didn't think we'd make the play-offs; I hoped that I'd be proved wrong and thought that I had been up until Tuesday.
There has been immense bad luck around the club during 2007. Losing Graham from the club was a huge loss, not just off the pitch. The floodlight situation has really not helped; from the 4 'home' league games that we have played at Dartford and Gravesend, we have only taken 3 points. Bearing in mind our home record was fairly good up until this point, it could well be a reason why we don't make the play-offs.
To give ourselves a chance, we MUST win our next two games. To be honest, if we can't beat the whipping boys of the league on Saturday then we probably don't deserve to go up.
Regardless of all of our different views as to why Welling are in this position, we need to show and voice our support for the remaining two games. I hope we can all spend those 180 minutes with no negative words passing our lips.
Oh Yes of course I do and remember being very drunk but the oint was that we have ONE goalscorer (and yes I know we have had goals from other areas this season) but when it comes down to it it is your main striker that has to deliver. If that guy is having to get the ball himself in all sorts of areas and create the chances for himself them we have a problem which I am afraid has been shown in the last 4 games at least
