I am, and I believe all of us are. Through so much adversity - no floodlights, playing home games on "foreign" fields, death of a much-loved personality and owner, faint-hearts, injuries - they have had a remarkable season. Yes there have been blips, perhaps too many and always at the wrong time! But we should judge the season as a whole, and I think Ade and Phil and the team have performed miracles on a comparative shoestring budget. We all have our own ways of sounding off and dealing with disappointment (perhaps there should be an alcohol sensor on the keyboard that stops us posting at such times - and I am as guilty as most). But, please, let's not get personal. We all have our issues. We don't know what is happening off-the-field and behind the scenes - be it ambition, money, player deals that have fallen through... The one thing we all have in common is a strong desire for our team to succeed against all the odds stacked against them. We have two games left and I sure the boys will summon up the strength and courage to give it a go. I am pleased that this forum has survived thus far. I am not a "special one" ( and I rarely eat prawn sandwiches, JGFC. Incidentally, I have known JGFC since he was a young, fervent, Wings supporter who followed his team everywhere. And we used to have good, reasoned, post-match banter with the late loved John Glover and late loved Tudor Jones in the corner of the bar. If JGFC has issues which keep him from going to games now - whether he is right or wrong - we should respect that). I want this forum to survive through the closed season and beyond - without any trashing, personal abuse and defamatory statements - so that we can all enjoy some friendly banter, gossip and news. We all have our faults and give vent to feelings without thinking things through. So let's think before we post and keep this forum going.

Thanks for your words of support for the future of the forum. I have really enjoyed running it since JgFc handed it to me overnight last April. There have been the odd moments when I've thought why do I bother but they have been few and far between. The forum has very healthy viewing figures and the number of those contributing has been slowly increasing. For me personally I think that the single most matter for which the forum provided a platform was for fans to pay their respects following the sad death of Graham and I know that the family very much appreciated the messages posted.
Football is a game of opinions and I do like to promote debate. I have no problem with people expressing views which may on occasion be critical, controversial or pose difficult questions. I know not everybody agrees with that but for me the forum is one of the few places that provides a platform where fans can, within limits, put their views forward. There is often a fine line when looking at the issue of personal abuse, trashing etc. and as moderator I apply my judgement but accept that opinions will vary as to where that line is and not everyone will agree with my judgements on every occasion.
I have no intention of letting the forum die during the closed season and beyond though football being a seasonal game and there not being much news I am expecting it to be far less active. Perhaps some of the cricket fans out there could use the off topic forum for some banter.
The only thing I am thinking seriously about over the summer is my input on the youth forum and the future of the KYL youth sides website.

"The worst thing you can do is make a committment and not meet it and I understand that." Barrie Hobbins 14 August 2010
Im busting my nuts to get back to the games but for the reasons i gave before (no ambition, not wanting promotion, cutting corners and budgets, poor commercially, etc etc) nothing has changed off the pitch.
As soon as it does or we have new owners i will be there. I think Adrian and the Players have been fantatstic this season. 6 points and we could get in the play offs, if only off the pitch we matched on it.
COME ON YOU WINGS

Please don't take this as having a go JGFC - I understand and respect your views about the Hobbins and the way the club is being run. As I have posted here I have some sympathy with what you say. But why does that stop you going to away games? My understanding is that you didn't want to be seen as supporting the Hobbins and giving them money, but at away games the home club keeps all the money.
Juat something that puzzled me but I am sure that you have a good explanation and it is something I missed.
Its a fair point, and one im considering for next season very strongly and i didnt take it the wrong way. My feelings were "not wasting no more money or time until i saw a radical difference OFF the pitch".
Would find it hard to stay away from home games if doing the away but seriously considering it.
I'll just add that if Adie leaves and hardly any of the team sign for next year and we promote somone from the youth/community set up to first team manager then none of the above applies as i wont be anywhere near the club.

...and you probably won't be the only one. I was told at the end of the game on Tuesday that only one player is on contract for next year. Very worrying. I remember last Summer we were really worried about the lack of playerss and signings but it shows Ade's management skills that we went from that to finishing so high in the table. If Ade wasn't there...
Just pray Adrian and Phil (And Neil and Laws) all stay as if they dont we are in a sludgy creek without a paddle... But.... remember, those close to the club say dont worry it will be ok.....

But as Marshy has just posted... things arent sorted for next season.
Adie and Phil are ambitious, and we have no players on contract. In MY PERSONAL OPINION they havent received the backing they deserve through whatever reasons.
We have to remain hopeful that Adie can be offered a package (personal) and a budget that he feels he can work with.
Ive read in the press the budgets been cut 3 times despite winning over £130,000 over 2 season is cup and trophy. When weve needed some backing its not there, The floodlights fiasco has hurt our chances too. Add the whole package up then the fact staff and players not on contract and then realise that anything can and probably will happen. Surely Barrie should be getting the boss and the players on contract?? Or risk them leaving.
I think the next two ganes and the summer are the most important times in history for Welling United FC.

No club at our level should 2 games before the end of the season have no players on contract for next year!!, If thats what Barrie has told you, we are in dire need of help.
Its never happened, last year from xmas adie was getting people signed up for this season.
Has barrie told you told you this, because i strongly disagree if that is how the club is being run. Players like JT, Leon, Daisy should be tied up, We werent getting relegated, NOT tieing them up is frankly amatuer and shambolic!
I cant see you just guessing what youve just posted your opinion or what youve been told - But you were told everything would be ok with the lights, no problems its all in hand.... then we get all the games pushed back to the very end of season and no lights, even you will admit it has made our promotion bid a hell of a lot harder.
So has Barrie told you that Adie will be signing the players "when we know what league we are in" ? How do you know none have signed pre contracts elsewhere? Or if they will sign?
Are these your opinions? Or what you have been told?

£130k - i don't think it's been as much as that has it?
Anyway, Graham said at a Q&A a while back that we were operating at a loss of 60-70k for the season. I bet this season is also operating at a loss and the money we've won will just get eaten up. We simply can't turn our cup winnings into contracts, new players etc until our finances get closer to the black. I bet it's not helped this season either that our home crowds have been pretty disappointing considering we've been doing well.
NO CLUB would sign a team of players that are comfortable at one level knowing that some will not be comfortable at the higher level - It is simple business management
If anyone thinks we have £1000's sitting happily in a bank then they are deluded
JGFC - I look forward to many discussions at games next year as I beleive you are going to attend home and away ??????????????????????????????
We raised over 100k for the cup and trophy and this season its over 20k
now if you wish for me to find all the posts then fine.
We were in the play offs and the budget was cut after earning 100k plus!!!!!!! This year all the games were put back to the last few weeks!!!!! Why were they not spread out?
People can keep making excuses or they can see the light sometimes... SOME people close to the club seem to accept what they are spoon fed.
We have won over £130k in 2 seasons in the FA Cup and FA Trophy. Where the hell has it gone, ANYONE can say oh we were running at a loss for a few years, on what a budget under £4,000?? Are you for real??
Barrie do the decent thing take the money and sell up and all of the arse lickers who think the club has been or is being run anywhere near correctly can fk off too.
AND HERES THE BUD_A_BING LIGHTS ON BIT...
IF we were losing money before... some of the money goes towards it ... NOT ALL and then you dont **** the budget ASWELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Players will not be signed on contracts for two reasons as yet
1. We do not know for sure which league we will be in next year - as soon as that is known then Ade will sweep into action
2. The players don't know what league we will be in so they will leave their options open too
If we were to be promoted then there would be some changes in playing personell
Wait and see
So has Barrie told you that Adie will be signing the players "when we know what league we are in" ? How do you know none have signed pre contracts elsewhere? Or if they will sign?
Are these your opinions? Or what you have been told? another all will be ok post from you... after the floodlights!!
