As an Eastleigh fan I`m more than a little confused by this turn of events,I cant believe that we would have announced it if we didn`t have our man.Can anyone shed anymore light on this apart from what was mentioned on the link on our message board posted by JGFC.
The telling point regarding the current position is that the statement issued said that further news would be released when the formalities had been completed. At the moment it appears that the ball is in Ellis' court and Eastleigh's statement could turn out to be a case of counting their chickens before they hatch.

To be honest I was hoping we had learned from past experience,seems not be the case.From what I have heard if he stays at Welling we have dipped out on a useful player. I`m wondering whether Dodds departure had any bearing on the current whereabouts of Mr Green. Looking forward to visiting you again next season...thankfully Jamie Day wont be playing
I might look a bit stupid here but i was told today Ellis was playing for Eastleigh tonight at Poole. Did he play v Charlton?? And its getting stupid, just tell him to sod off and play for Eastleigh. hes played kent league and had 1 season in Conf South and hes joined a worse team than us.

The second half of last season the difference between Welling and Eastleigh was marginal (2pts over the last 21 matches) and their run in was much the same as ours. It was the first half of the season that cost them with only 18 points from 21 matches.
No doubt that they have offered Ellis more money as they don't appear to be short of the readies but if he has gone at least he hasn't dropped leagues in pursuit of the pound note.

Granted and I think that was a contributory factor in failing to get into the playoffs but realistically it probably only cost us the Thurrock game as Salisbury were without doubt a better side, we beat Cambridge, and simply had a mare against Basingstoke.
