Now - I can only go by the results so far and what I have been told from the games as I have not managed a friendly as yet (Maldon here I come!!! Whoopeee) but It appears that we will be a pretty solid defensive outfit BUT what happens if we go a goal down - It doesn't seem we have the firepower to equalise let alone score two. I guess it is too early to judge the young Millwall lad who appenetly scored a few for Sutton last season and they were impressed with him.
And am I being over hopeful but I would think we need at least two who can provide.
Blackman has signed - Is he the answer??? I keep getting told he is slow!!!
What i find incredible is that hes been given a contarct and hasnt scored and only scored 2 in a season.
Seems very iffy, hope its not an old boys act. We need goals and a proven scorer, Surely Blackman aint cheap being from a conference club and the money could have gone on someone who scores.
We havent even got a goalscoring midfielder.
They may get 10 against maldon and Erith but against decent opposition so far we havent scored a goal from midfield or attack.
I don't know too much about Gaynor who is getting another run out tomorrow but I hope we are considering him as a midfielder who will chip in with a few goals and not a goalscorer. He had 31 appearances in the league for Sutton last season and scored 7 goals. His debut was marked with a hat trick against Weston (who conceded 77 goals) so in 30 other appearances he scored 4 goals two of which were against Dorchester (conceded 77) and Bedford (conceded 82).

Everyone can see we need a quality striker. And fast. On the evidence of this season what we have is nowhere near good enough up front and no amount of training will change that.
Lets Hope that the club can give Neil a few quid to get a front man in that will score. It would be a shame to get off to a crap start because we cant score enough.
If he is and based on last seasons performance it doesn't look as if he is able to cut the mustard at this level.
Well had it not been for Millwall's late play off surge, he was going to get a recall to the first team so he must of been doing something right, also, if he gets a decent service then I reckon he'll start banging them in.

Blackman - moaned at himself, the ref, their players, our players - It was like watching an emotional rollercoaster. He didn't connect with the two chances he had, but looks set to sign according to reports. At an early look though, he certainly puts himself about and has nice control on the ball from deep. Eurostar Athletic did a good defensive job on him.
Gaynor - I didn't feel he got himself in the right positions, but must be hard coming into a squad where no-one knows each other.
Johnson - Nice movement and pace, hopefully at BSSouth level will eventually get past that last defender and whip in some nice assists.
Sam - Wish I could see him over 90 mins.
Harper - Honestly don't know what to think.
Top scorer for 07/08 might be Mooro with his runs into the box to header in the corner!
Come on be real, Gaynor scored a handful of goals last season at this level and Blackman scored 2 in a league above.
Is a handful of goals good enough for us? i think not. Harper scores a goal in a blue moon. We are in extreme danger of being as potent as potentless potent thing up front this season. And Everyone can see it!
Now the Manager can bury his head in the sound and HOPE they improve but they did not last year. OR he can swiftly not dish out contracts to 4 forwards who dont score and bring in someone who does.
Every side wants a 20 goal a season man, Previous managers have found Paul Booth and Kedwell. We dont have a striker you could Depend on for 5 let alone 20!
