Wide man was my understanding too based on his career history hence the ? but the official site and press have reported him as having been signed as a striker.

Neil is quoted as saying we are in need of goals, but once Lloyd gets one he will be flying so you have to assume that Lloyd is our saviour and the 15-20 league goal man Neil has signed cos i see no others being approached or signed. Neil said that a striker was the priority when he came here. we have to assume that Neil is happy that man is Lloyd as he put him on contract despite not one goal. Strange but who knows.

Not in the online version but an expanded item in the Bexley Extra it is reported that Neil has agreed terms with Steve Harper and strangely, since it has been reported that he has already signed, it says terms have been agreed with Lloyd Blackman.
Also reported that Rob Gier is on a week trial at Aldershot.

I find it incredible that strikers who have proven they are not prolific can be offered a contract, You dont score 2 3 4 or 5 in a season and score 20 the next it just doesnt happen.
Unless we get a proper scoring striker who is proven either at our level or below we will struggle and i think everyone bar the manager can see this.

How many sitters did Harper miss last year? He aint a striker and we also have Blackman who apparantly aint a striker. Neither were contracted with us and in pre season Neither have scored, So what does our Manager do with a guy like paul vines up the road he offers contracts to two strikers who havent scored ten between them last season or scored in pre season...
Now you can take this a negative post or you can take it as a "wake up and smell the coffee" Whats the point of waiting 2 months into the season being in the sh ite and then having to get a striker in when if we had a decent striker now or maybe at the start of pre season would have been an idea!! We may have had a chance.
WE NEED A DECENT STRIKER!! LOL If you add in Gaynor and Sam they aint scored 20 between them last year. FFS Neil wake up ,ate WE NEED A STRIKER and you are giving contracts out to people with a proven record of not scoring. Have this for nothing Neil... If Sam is Fit he will be our top scorer. If Harper played 42 games he wont get 10 and neither will Blackman. But he we will beat Erith town who we smashed NINE past before and everything will be ok PMSL!!
Neil how much money do you want ME to Give YOU to go and get Paul Vines or someone who knows what a goal looks like?

Fair enough its pre season but the current strikers previous records are there to be seen and you can see none of them are prolific and one would hope neil would see this and realise someone is needed. The fact that Neil offered Contracts to two of them makes me worry. he is a new manager and wont have dealt with contracts before. We havent exactly trialed loads have we or had bids rejected for others. No sign of any decent striker being targeted or in talks. Just think its our one obvious problem and we seem to have said here you go Lloyd and Harps you can have a contract. I THINK Harper got 3 goals in 20 games last season and hes been given a contract!!
Fair play if he was alongside a decent striker but we seem to have just gone for anyone with a pulse who has a poor record at scoring.
They can read this and think shut up... I'll say to them prove Neil was right giving you a contract and do what you are paid for SCORE GOALS. i have a feeling we will only be signing squad bodies from now on in and will be weak in midfield and up front. The defence may be ok but the pressure they will be under will be immense.
If Neil were to sign a midfielder of repute with some legs and another center half alongsode Mooro and May plus a striker who knows how to score the bulk of the goals at at the required rate, we MAY be ok. Signs are all we will sign now are bodies.

I thought Harper signed on a two year contract , maybe he is still on that.Gier played second half for Aldershot at right back the other night against Farnborough
Does anyone know what happened to Dane Springer half a game and scores then goes missing, and the Portugese winger we had early last season was his name Viana ?.
Harper was offered his contract at the end of last season,i can tell you Neil had 8 trialist strikers down for training this week i think we can safely say Neil can see the urgency for some firepower.
Lets hope so mate cos to the rest of us it looks like we havent got a striker so give contracts to anyone. And you can have 30 trialists but if they aint no good...
Plenty of strikers scoring goals in lower leagues... Even some bloke called Paul Vines. It seems if Neil is now aware its too late as many are contracted which is why NOT signing players for the first 2 months Neil was here has hurt us.
But after giving contracts to Harps and blackman there cant be much money left so you can only go and get someone who isnt good enough.
Still behind neil i am just think hes made a few poor decisions and left signing players late. We still only have half a squad and some of the other guys on trial have probably been playing for the dog and duck and havent impressed.

All the time we lose players to higher clubs we should go and get lower league "stars", We cant compete with sides in this league for their players so we eed to get lively and pick up those that are good enough from below, and that means the better players.
In the last few seasons for money we have sold
James Smith, Paul Booth, John Guest, Danny Kedwell
We havent gone and bought anyone when replacing these and given weve lost bods and daisy is it too much to expect we would spend some of the money on a decent scorer from below if we cant get similar players at our level?
