I know I should have gone to Erith but did not wake up till 4 p.m. (just finished 10 9and a half hour night shifts). Anyone know the score and any other details like any new players/trialists etc. Thanks
Today was a choice between going to the game or going to watch Bexley play cricket. I went to the match and chose the wrong one.
£6 admission which wasn't bad with an upside down programme. We won 1-0 coutesy of a goal 2nd half from Mutu, only in football can he be called "Mutes" by his team mates.
Frankly I was less than impressed against a lower league team we were not far short of shocking. I dont have any problems with the defence, Mooro led well, Robbie looks good and Coterill? along side looks promising with Solly on the other side. In the midfield we did not create much but up front the starting pair of Lloyd and Steve Harper were shocking. For a bloke of Harper's size he gets brushed off the ball too easily and Lloyd managed to put one over the bar from three yards. Not since the silky skills of Danny Smith have I seen that happen at the road end.
I would love to be proved wrong but unless we get some decent firepower and not knowing how long Mooros dear old legs will last week in week out we could be in the bottom six by Christmas if not sooner on the showing I have seen so far. Still two weeks and two friendlies to go and a lot could still change
Whats incerdible is that we had a big gap from last friendly and who has Neil brought in upfront in the mean time?
How many did Coleman score for fisher? I have never known us have such SH IT strikers at Welling.
Bartley, Warren, Abbo, Inchy, Roberts, Boothy, Keds etc etc etc id rather have Roy Hales and Neil Horwood upfront!!
My gut instinct tells me we will be bottom half all season and be in bottom 4 or 5 scorers unless a decent proven striker comes in pronto BEFORE the season starts
One goal v Folkestone, One v Maldon and One v Erith Town is frankly disgusting, Pre Season or No Pre season
Get or known , proven decent striker and NOW or we are in for a torrid time Neil.
Defence on paper is Fine, Need a young creative midfielder and TWO strikers not one.
All this has been said for weeks and nothing changes. I'm getting very worried , I dont think Andy Ford, Kinnear or the like would have had half a squad and sh it strikers this late into pre season.
Did Neil watch last years DVDs before giving Harper a contract or Blackman. Can he tell me how people with such a dire scoring record are given contracts??

We play Erith Town on the opening day of our season so if anyone could do me a favour and drop a line or two about how they played, players to look out for, systems they play etc it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Copes. paul.copley@unite-hr.com
will everyone just calm doon !!! the season aint started yet, besides we all know freindly matches count for **** all ! good luck this season to neil and the squad.
I went to the game and pre season games are normally taken with a pinch of salt, get the mistakes out the way before the important games start!
However I was dissappointed with the work rate from the two forwards in the first half, to look ineffective against a Kent league back is not a good sign with a much higher quality to expect from Conf South defences, the lack of chances surprised me. I did think the second half line up looked a bit more worthwhile Omari Coleman could be interesting especially if he can score a couple, he looks like a player that can grow in confidence, Muku looked like he could be a player that might get us out of jail this season!
With two more friendlies to go I hope the forwards sort out the problems!!!
Lineup 1ST HALF GK-Jamie Turner CB-Robbie Ryan CB-Chris Moore CB-Tony Sinclair RM-Leon Soloman LM-Michael Johnson CM-Adam Cotterill CM-Adam? Barnard CM-Sam Kievel FW-Honor Blackman FW-Steve Harper
SUBS Steve May Mucu Omari Coleman Andrew Sam
I dont think i have missed any players out they are the ones who got on the pitch. I know from pre-season you look to take positives and im struggling to find any the front two first half could have played for weeks and not scored and against that opposition that says a lot they are too similar and play off a main striker and create BELIEVE ME neither of the front two first half will get 10goals this season. Omari Coleman looked sharp when he came on and yes the back 3 which changed to a 4 when leon went to RB did look secure but even then there were a few worrying moments when against a decent side we would have conceded. Cotterill and Kievel in CM did a few pretty passing moves but did nowt to support the front two the wingers did not do much either. Today we should have looked to smash a team boost morale knock the ball around and show a tempo we didnt and must say i left VERY VERY WORRIED and think that if we dont get in a striker and a attacking midfielder we are in for a long long long season.
Some promising remarks from the lads above re Defence and Midfield but the comments about the front mens work rate and also lack of effect during the game speak volumes. They have been training and playing for a month and not scored and their record last year was poor. We need someone else Neil. Off load the 2 if you can ,no offence to either of them but we need better and we need scorers and if they aint gonna work hard anyway we dont want them.
Coleman i will wait on as at least there are some positives there at least.
Lets pray neil gets a hitman in and soon and uf ut does goes pear shaped no one can say the signs werent there or that they arent players HE gave a contract too.
He has 2 weeks to sort this mess.

Neil seems a little wet behind the ears thats all. He has said in the paper we need a striker (i believe we need two of the required standard) Now lets see if he can bring them in in time....
We havent used that many trialists to be fair as most of the players that have appeared in the games look set to form the majority of the squad, these are all players that Neil deceides to give a contract to if they stay.
Id like Neil to be honest in the paper and admit hes screwed up the pre season and trials and let us know he will rectify things and quick. If we start the season in this mess i dont think Neil will last long at Welling. He needs to bring in a midfielder, a striker , get defensive cover and sign Orlando Mucu the scarlet pimpernel and get them playing as a team.
Neils lack of action when he first came here could cost us dear. But as Mark has said lets see how they perform from the forst game and what squad we have before destroying Going absolutely mental.
Its in Neils Hands and always has been.

I was there on Saturday. We cant score to save our lives. At the end of the day goals win games, not defences. Unless we get a good striker we will struggle this season.
