Young team from hammers who took lead , wings equalised. Well done Wings!!
BUT, a disasterous night for Welling United FC through no fault of their own i must add, as riot poilice were called after a lot of millwall fans kicked off with Knives and Bottles against the Hammers fans after congregating at the Guy.
I pray that no one was hurt i also pray that West Ham will send another team down next year and that the police presence will be there early.
Some very scared people there tonight and some nast nasty hooliganism.
Well done Neil and the boys, youth academy or not they are professionals and had Jimmy Walker in goal.
Bad luck to Barrie on the aggro outside but he is to be applauded along with Neil for getting West Ham Down, the only aggro we have at Welling is When millwall are near by (friendlies or bushwackers turning up)
Come on you Wings onwards and upwards. And well done tonight on the draw.
PS look out in the sun for a story on Harry Redknapp love "Scoop JgFc" in the next few days...
I was hoping to make it last night but in the end couldnt manage it and it sounds like I did well to miss it. I thought the days of soccer violence had been well and truly buried but obviously the idiot supporters of Millwall disagree. I suppose those that were arrested if any will be receiving their ASBOs soon and have something to boast to their mates about. What the hell use are ASBOs anyway? All it does is say, this is your last chance when theyve already been told the same thing dozens of times before. A far better solution is to give a short custodial sentence of say 1 month. If you re-offend then you get 3 months. Do it again and you get a year etc. Thats whats known as a deterrent. Hear that Mr Brown, a DETERRENT. And I dont want to hear about the prisons being overcrowded. Build more prisons if necessary. Also, make prison a punishment, not a bloody holiday camp. No TV, no visits, no special needs, no European Court of Appeal either, just hard work. If you dont work you get another day added to your sentence simple as that. Successive governments say they dont like giving these sentences because it gives people a criminal record and it makes it harder for them to get a job. Yes, they get a criminal record. Thats because they are criminals and should be treated as criminals. If I had my way Id bring back the birch and bring back hanging and stuff what the EC directives are. Sorry for the ranting and raving folks. Im housebound at the moment recovering from knee surgery and Im bored bloody stiff. How did the team play last night and did Mouko play?
I would guess there were around 2000 at PVR last night. I thought the team played quite well. They made a few chances but only scored one again. A tap in by Coleman after a Chris Moore header was pushed off the line by the goalie. Coleman is certainly a better, stronger looking centre forward than either Blackman of Harper. He put himself about a bit last night anyway. Welling played some tidy stuff at times. The team must of been encouraged by it`s performance. Lets hope the goals start comming soon. By the way Danny Kedwell has scored 4 goals in 3 games so far at Grays.
Keds has Gone, We have been compensated financially. One would hope that would facilitate some players coming in where that matters. Omari Coleman would seem like one of the better bets for us up front not prolific but lots of effort and promising. Mr Blackman would appear a mercinary and waste of time and nowhere near good enough, If he has any decency he will go elsewhere. Another bumper crowd due for Gillingham, do not panic yet as i am sure Neil has a few quid left especially after some very nice friendly crowds.
Thought Wings were excellent last night against a West Ham team that had several players who are expected to move up to the 1st team squad within the next couple of years.
West Ham have high hopes for Stokes, and Reid has made several starts for the West Ham 1st team last year. Collinson (sic) has also played in a couple of their first team friendlies thiks season.
Back to the Wings. I thought Steve May at 2 was excellent, good pace and timing, suspect that he is worth a higher level of football. Johnson on left wing seems to be getting better by the game and Muku (sic) was excellent as well. Omari Coleman showed enough touches to be well worth our trust; against weaker teams than last night, i.e. most of the Blue Square South (nealy wrote Conferene) he will get chances and score goals.
However the best player on the pitch by a country mile was Mooro. God what is he on? I just wish i could get some. The authorities should test him for perfprmance enhancing sunstances every week. I think he only missed one header all game, and even outpaced a couple of the hammers forward line a couple of times. a true star and a Wings legend.
Like many on this board i was not looking forward to the glorious eleventh. Could not see where the goals would come from. However, after last night feel cautiously optomistic (ish). Only critisism is that the central midfield is slightly "industrial"; all huff and puff and no slight of hand. However this is tier 6 in the pyramid, not the prem. sometimes huff and puff can get you somewhere, andc if Muku/Orlando Smith signs we will have a couple of very decent wide players.
i was at the game last night, the team is starting to take shape, looking promising to me.mooro was great, and i think carpenter will proove a good skipper this season.hope we sign moko or whatever his name is cos he played well last night.when this team gels together we will be DANGEROUS !!!! i cant wait for the season to start and to get away from the missus and poxy summer sports!!
I agree with MarkX to a large extent. Wasn't at all covinced about May and wonder if Leon might play right side..............Not convinced by 'Magic' either but he does add balance to the team. With the best will in the world I think the combination of captain and manager in the centre leaves us short of 'legs' in that part of the field. Coleman looked a cut above our other forwards but I just hope he can sustain that level of performance................
In short I feel we still need another centre back (Gier ?) an attacking central midfielder and of course another centre forward.
Gier is at Aldershot. Gave away a pen the other night. So Coleman could be a striker.. How about Sam? with Harper and Blankman (not a typo) playing wide?
