I personally thought both sides were quite equal. I enjoy watching Bognor - nice passing and movement. The biggest impact on the game was the ref - really shocking even by Conference South standards. I would be interested in seeing the incident for the penalty again as I cannot understand how it wasn't a red card. One on one in the 6 yard area - no other players in sight - clearly a foul - ref gave the penalty and then a yellow. That turned out to be the turning point. I couldn't see Bognor scoring 3 with 10 men. We were slow at the beginning of the second half and Jamie Turner still leaves a lot to be desired when he comes off his line.
Disapointed with Bognors' secong goal - both our central defenders down injured - they broke away and scored. Felt the supporting thing would have been for Bognor to put the ball out or the ref to blow. Having said that we also had the chance to put the ball out and didn't.
I wasn't too dishearted - some good perforances out there.
Defense played like they had never met each other before. Steve May, who I praised on this forum a couple of weeks ago, put in a performance so poor that I wish I was better educated so i would have the vocabulary to describe it.
The wingers looked ok, but the central midfielf had no link up play with the attack, consequently our forwards spent most of the match isolated.
Up front, Omari looked good, and Lloyd was ok, but would probably do better if he tried not to win a free kick everytime he challenged for a ball. However, 10/10 for effort today.
What really scared me was that we had four midfielders and the reserve keeper on the bench. I appreciate that we were missing two key defenders (Moore & Ryan) for various reasons, but surely we have another attacker somewhere. If not, i suggest that Mr Smith gets busy with his contact book.
If we dont improve soon.....
Oh and finally. Bernard as a left back was nearly as funny as Kedwell playing in midfield for the last 10 minutes away at Histon last year.
In the last few minutes Welling get a free kick and a Bognor player deliberately handles and all thats given is a free kick. Even then when the free kick was taken the guy tried to handle it again.
Blackman and a Bognor player go for a 50-50 and both connect with the ball and ref gives free kick to Bognor.
The linesman at the old stand side was totally useless too. Where do they get them? St Dunstans.
It's going to be a long old season if today was anything to go by.
My view is somewhat simillar to that of Charlie 22 but neither Coleman nor Blackman looked that good to me and I don't think we were ever looked as if we were going to score from open play.
The reffing reached its usual high standards (of ineptitude that is) but if Blackman and JT continue to berate referees as they did today it is going to cost us dear. The failure to reduce Bognor to 10 men was a 'botttle job' though I'm not as sure as some that it would have made that significant a difference since I believe it would just have brought Bognor's tails up earlier.
One thing we can take away from today was the sweet free kick from Johnson. If we are going to have to rely on penalties and set plays then he looks as if he will be a real asset.

I personally think it would of made a difference. 11 players versus 10 players on a bloomin' hot day, 1-0 down, heads drop etc etc etc. But in the same breath, yes, it could of given them a kick up the backside quicker. I think the the first option would of been more likely though.
One thing I noticed was lack of communication / understanding amongst our lot. I spoke to a Bognor fan who was at the game today and he said that JT DID call for the ball. Also at times the passing / dallying on the ball was a bit who-har at times. Maybe Neil needs to take them out on a team bonding session, get the players to know each other a bit more.
We did have a few good touch and go moves and at TIMES we played some decent football BUT there is an obvious lack of understanding between the players.
Remember, this is Neil and Nethers first proper game, they're always learning. We need to be paitent with them but not too paitent if you understand me. Give them the time and I have a feeling we'll start seeing the results come through pretty soon.
I still feel a degree of confidence and I'm gunna show it to Neil, Nethers and the team, get behind them and give them as much support as I can to aid a win and we should ALL do that.

I'm not going to comment on the ref, I thought I had seen him before which normally means I am remembering for the wrong reasons.
Neither full back immpressed me. Steve May was at fault for their first goal as well as the og and the no2 (Cotterill?) was never tight on their winger. Thought the 6 had a reasonable first half but once Leon went off we fell apart. The sooner we have a back line of Mooro, Robbie Ryan/Leon, the no6( who I think was Sinclair) and a decent right back the better. The communication with Mooro on will be better as well.
On the positive side the two wide midfielders James and Muco were good but we need to learn to beat a player once. Agree we have a problem in the middle and I''ll come onto that in a moment.
Coleman tried hard and Lloyd got some good flicks but they aint the answer
It bring me onto the middle. I have never been a fan of player managers. It never worked with Kevin Hales, Terry Robbins, or at any other club I can remember. If the plan each week is for Neil to come on to replace Chip because his legs have gone we are in dire straits. I am sure Neil is a better manager than he is on the pitch these days. My advice would be to concentrate on that and we would be able to focus on where the issues are rather than being involved.
Bognor are always a good passing side but we will face better this year and Tuesday at Cambridge with a few players back wil be a good test.
My view on yesterday was that the ref was awful and it should have been a red card and some decisions balfed me. Now the team Cotterill did ok and at times No 5 Sinclair did some good things then some silly things, Leon sorry mate your not a CB and May was the weak link for me but maybe left back is not his postion. The big thing for me is at the back there was no one to organise and i take from yesterday that Neathercott wont play as that is why Leon went to CB. To many times we were to open in places over the pitch. Sorry i have seen Muku play 3times and have seen nowt that impresses me and was more impressed with James, Johnson and Scrubbings over the 3games. How can you make Chippy captain if he is not going to do 90minutes that worries me BEST PLAYER ON THE PICH WAS SAM KIVEL he ran passed and tackled for 90minutes. My worry was that we would play some good stuff but needed someone to put the ball in the net and still believe that this season will be long and we will be good to watch but very frustrating as we have many skillful players but will we have an end product??? Im afraid to say that i predict mid table.
come on you rocks............ get in thier........... serves you right welling, your a load of fools........ ****e ground ****e fans, ****e ground ****e fans............. what about that fat idiot who wanted a word with sarah, well why didn't you come and have a word with her when all our men were around. do you know why because your a prick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally - I don't think that we will have another two 'freak' goals go in against us this year again.
I still will wait to overcriticise until we have played together for a few weeks - I agree ref the defence and I would like to think that it will be a lot more solid when Mooro is back on Tuesday.
Too early to get on their backs guys!!
Have I missed it or have we not seen fron Neil after Saturday - What did he say??
We WILL playe a lot better as the teamwork takes shape
James and Barnard look great to me - Coleman will score goals - even Blackman got into a few positions
