I'm sure most of us have seen a fair few Welling games over the years and I was wondering if anyone had any views on the best goal they've ever seen scored by a Welling player.

My favourites are Abbo at home against Gateshead.  Can't remember the exact season, but I recall that was the goal that guaranteed our safety that season.  The other is Stuart White away at Enfield; again, can't remember the season, but it was late 80s and he ran almost the entire length of the pitch to score.

Another favourite, not because it was a spectacular goal, but because of the situation, was our penalty winner away to Weston last season.  After the abuse from the Weston fans and Welling being determined not to give up, that must be one of the most satisying goals I've seen.

Fairly sure Stuart White's was in a 3-2 win just after Xmas in 1989. He picked it up from their corner, ran the length and belted it in - great stuff!!

Got to be Terry Robbins with the 3rd against Bath in the FA Cup after being 2-0 down. Absolute bedlam at the park end. I ended up hanging off the back of the net after the barrier collapsed

Abbo volleyed one in scissor kick styley v telford at home. A Steve Barnes Lob part of a hatrick at home. Whiteys at Enfield length of the pich , slot home and jump in the crowd. The Hone header v Gillingham great set piece. Handfords Free Kick vs Bath at Home in the cup. Joe Francis dancing through the Swansea defence at the Vetch field and smashing it home.

Id have

Abbos Volley while 3 feet in air v Telford
Whitey at Enfield
Francis at Swansea

as my top 3

I've only been coming down Wings for 3 years on Jan 1st exactly - my first game was vs Maidstone and was 1-0 to us - I think Danny Slatts scored - anyway I won't have the goals to call on as others -

the best goal to see was vs Gillingham in pre-season a couple of years ago when Stadhart hit the ball with the outside of his foot and it went into the top corner and we won 4-1.

Most important and favourite goal was against Dorchester in the fa cup in the same season when Keds scored the 2nd to make it 2-1 - everyone went mad - and it was great to rub it in the face of that fat keeper and those stupid Hitler stewards they have down there!

I have always felt that 'great' goals are ones that really matter in a game. Therefore the winner for me has to be Abbo's at home to Gateshead which virtually ensured our survival in the Conference that season.

Would have to go for Joe Francis at Swansea.

However, two others with a bit of a different take.

Best o.g. Collins 25 yard long range top corner strike to seal a 4-3 defeat at Stafford :(

And a goal that surprised all of us who were present (Moo included I believe), given who it was, was the Neil Clemmence one on one dribble from the halfway line at a crucial midweek 1-0 win at Witton

(Anyone remember who scored from the blinding move in the 4-2 win at Kettering in the early nineties?)

Same Cheltenham game, i made my debut video-ing a whole game and paul Barron punched Andy Gray in the face from a set piece on purpose to settle an old score, missing the ball by a mile but not the jocks boat race!!

Stafford, I was indeed at Witton for the famous Clemmence goal.

As for the best own goals....John Farley's hat-trick against, I think, Kettering?
