From official site:

The Football Foundation have today confirmed that Welling will receive 20% of the total net costs of the new Floodlights. In other news, the Wings first reserve game takes place tomorrow (22nd August, 7:30pm kick-off). Welling reserves face Erith & Belvedere reserves at Thamesmead Town FC. The side for the friendly will be a mix of first team squad and young players.

I don't think the final cost has been announced but 20% is lower than hoped for, I would have thought.

Agreed but 20% is better than nothing especially if Erith didnt contribute

Why does someone HAVE to copy things from the official site - surely everyone reads that too!!

Something to do with sparking off debate Mark?

I could turn your comment on its head and say why in the past has the official site posted news after it has been in the local press and posted on this forum.  And before anyone goes off on one suggesting that I am attacking the official website, which I most definitly am not, they might like to speak to Barrie Hobbins and ask him about my discussions with him on news items - you might be surprised.

I think a great number of internet users cut and paste as it is a familiar concept to them, others will take the main points and put them in their own words and those who are more computer literate may use links.

The use of links makes things less spontaneous, and cut and paste runs the risk of complaints about copyright.

I'm not a lawyer but my advice to all would be pick out the salient points from the source and put in your own words crediting the source if you use any direct quotes or use a link and give an indication as the the content that can be found by following it.

The ideal solution where copyright is an issue is that which has been adopted by Paul Green of the News Shopper who alerts readers to his articles by posting a link on the forum.

Anyone concerned about something they have written being cut and pasted onto this forum should contact me via email at wingsfan@hotmail.co.uk.

20% is pretty poor. I thought it might have been 40-50%.

I feel Bexley Council should have paid 100% costs. They own the ground, therefore they should maintain it.

It's wrong that neither Erith or Bexley Council contributed anything. Were Bexley Council even contacted regarding a contribution?

I haven't seen anything published anywhere which breaks down the floodlight costs and how they were/are to be met.

It seems unlikely that E&B and/or the Council made a contribution or that would have emerged before now but without a statement from the Club, E &B, or the Council themselves we can't be sure that did not contribute.

Let's say for arguements sake that the floodlights cost £40k and Welling would get back 20% of that.............where will the money go? If £40k were the figure, then WU would receive £8k. Where would the club spend it? or would it go straight back to the charman?
Let's not forget that many WU fans contributed to the 'Floodlight scheme'

IF theyve paid the 40k upfront (doubt it) then there wont be much if anything left from the keds money plus the fundraising. So that 8k is probably accounted for. Albeit that the actual club havent had to find muchto add to the cost of the lights....i.e fund raising ,grant ,and keds dosh.

I wouldnt think that Bexley Council would contribute anything. The lease is probably written in such a way that WUFC are responsible for all maintenance.

I know this from personal experience as the company I work for lease from Bexley and were responsible for the lot..

I also doubt if E&B will contribute. It would be different if the were joint tenants but theyre not. From what I can gather, they sub let from WUFC and therefore are probably not responsible for maintenance apart from their own clubhouse.

Alan, i think thats correct.

BUT....

We footed half fo their stand!! ok so 200k of it was a grant but the rest of our half was from supporters/the club.

Thats why i often get fecked off when its reffered to as Eriths. Its not!! Welling financed half of it.... WHY???

PS the grant CLEARLY states Welling United FC 200,000 pounds etc for new stand. Welling financed half of the stand. So rather than people say erith stand, its a stand erith contributed towards. I think the Bar may be theirs or was that included in the stand costs?
