Surely even you have to agree that it is pretty poor for the official site to have no players details up as yet. Lack of photos is a pretty poor excuse.

Without getting embralled in this agreement - but why aren't replica shirts available yet. Given we change shirts every year it would be nice for people to get to wear them for a good proportion of the season.
As far as the actual subject of the thread goes the whole point of having an Official website is to make information available to fans and anyone with a passing interest in the organisation/person to which it relates. It is a very powerful PR tool and generates an image of that organisation/person yet at the moment if you are able to glean more information about the Club in the local press and its websites than the Club's Official site and I would venture to suggest that this is the wrong way round.
There is no point in having a website simply because everyone else has or to tick a box - it needs to be regularly updated and should at the very least carry information which appears in the local press. And before anyone starts I am not having a dig at James who designed and maintains it, the responsibility for content on the website lies with THE CLUB. If they don't want to keep those interested informed about what is happening they should be honest, drop all pretence of wanting to keep people informed and shut down the official website. Alternatively they could endorse James running the website as an unofficial one but they would of course have no control as to what it published beyond correction of fact.

JgFc The problem with the differences is not that they exist but the abusive way in which they are presented by both parties on the forum, hence the deletion of a post from Mark yesterday and the editing of your post.
If Mark was intent on active debate he would expand on his unsupported bland statements. He is obviously unwilling or unable to put any meat on his comments in the pursuance of debate which says it all in my opinion.
Exchanging abusive posts on the forum will not change his position and moves us forward not an inch in terms of debate and hence yesterday's message.

Actually I don't think the website is that bad. Yes it's not kept completely up to date but the match reports and videos are on there quicker than last season and much quicker than some other clubs (many of whom don't have video highlights). Even going to the games I really appreciate the videos and the interview with the manager, the former as you don't always get a fantastic view of everything at the match. The site may be official but it relies on James' goodwill. It's too easy just to keep slagging off all the time.
I asked about the shirts a couple of weeks ago as its a standing brithday present off my parents. The Club were as frustrated as I was that they haven't arrived, after all, they make from them.
Bruno I sometimes think you live in some kind of fantasy land if you think that the two main protagonists are ever going to engage in a constructive debate.
From my admittedly limited contact with James re the website I don't think the problem is anything to do with it being maintained by him on a goodwill basis. I have been aware of the timing of the release of information in the past and James has always got it on the site in very short order. The problem lies in the provision of information by the Club.

i speak with James on a regular basis and i can assure you that the problem with the player pics lies with the club, he can't do anything with them until he receives them from the club, i.e he hasn't got them yet so he cant post them on the website, as much ad he would like to. It also gets on my nerves that although that he has produced one of the best official websites that i have seen i recent years, he still recieves abuse and critisism (which isn't always constructive) which i feel is not always warrented. From my experience the site is always updated promptly with new information and details from which he is given by the club. If there is no official news then the site can't be updated. Finally i think that the site is one that any club in the league would be proud to have but it is not up to the webmaster to create news and stories that are worthy of updating the site! This is the clubs responsabilty!
It's always going to b a thankless task and I for one admire James for doing it. It's a damned good site and a lot better than many I've seen where people get paid for doing it. Keep it up James and ignore the negativity from some quarters.
Having gone back through this and past posts there is very little negativity actually cast in James' direction, the vast majority of the negativity is aimed at the Club and its PR as MarkX identified in this thread. I'm sure that James is quite capable of seeing that and he may may even share some of the frustration which has been expressed by others.
Welling are not a group of mates playing on a Sunday morning on pitches at Danson Park/Hackney Marshes etc. They are a semi professional club and whether they choose to accept it or not the (dwindling) fanbase is an integral part. Great play is made on the statement we are a family club and yet the fanbase who surely make up part of that family find out what is happening from sources other than the club despite it having a website. As things stand it feels like fans are as welcome as the comedians mother in law, guests who have to be tolerated.
From my perspective the paradox is that in my experience Barrie is very happy to discuss things if you approach him directly or have a chance meeting in the High Street.
