Yes, they showed the last round. They pick one game a round, my mate works for them he said what you reckon about Welling V Fisher, i said would be one of the worst tv games ever, 300 in crowd, hoof ball and other clubs deserving of the money far more.

I have to agree with Jgfc that we would be the last game that they would put on tv - we'll have to be away at a bigger club for that to happen

Well that is great

If there ever was a hope that they may show it (virtually nil I know) you have now totally put it out of their mind

Good bit of PR for the club there

May have made some money - mmmmmmmmmmm

Spanner in works as usual

Lets be honest why would Setanta want to show a match between two currently struggling sides (Welling 7 pts from possible 18 and Fisher 6 pts from possible 18 and both out of the FA Cup before the 4Q round) - they want to sell their package not kill it.

As Parker is a co-comentator he might have second thoughts of coming back to PVR.

Parker mentioned it i think. But cant agree with bruno again. they covered Stalybridge in the last round in a similar fixture.

Mark, i havent ever had a vote or 1% in the setanta decision making i was just asked what would it be like.

They are looking at a southern game and i suggested Havant / Lewes or Newport vs Bath so lets see if they listen to me (or Not!!)

Exactly!! and when we do that , how much goes on the team? FA Cup money swallowed up, budget cut.. 12k for keds did we spend any of it on a striker like john main or paul vines, did we F!!!

Mark behave mate, the club should pay you for some of your statements.

If they choose havant or newport i really will be persona non gratia

Come on JgFc hardly like with like. Stalybridge had earned 16 points from their last 6 games and they were playing Blyth Spartans, a name that even those who don't follow non league know.

On all this - I still think Jgfc's first comment is valid - there is 0 chance of them showing us

Not sure where you are coming from with that post JgFc.

Stalybridge v Blyth Spartans.

A side in 7th place in the North Division who had a poor start but are in a vein of form v newcomers to the Conference, in 15th place with a 100 odd year history and a name which most, both in the (North and South) would include if asked to name non league football sides.

Welling v Fisher

A side in 17th place whose season hasn't yet got off the ground v a side who started the season really well but are dropping like a stone and whose name is far better know in connection with boxing.

If you are talking about the standard of non league all are in the competition sponsored by the television company because they are in the top 68 non league sides.  Non League is what it is and watching it on TV often makes me cringe at its crudeness, something which you tend not to notice when actually at a game.  If we wanted to see attractive football every week we would all go to Highbury and watch the foreigners show us how it can be played.

I suspect that to get their foot in the football door Setanta sponsored the competition and took non league matches into their schedule of English and European matches in the hope that they would swell their subscribers list and put them in a stronger position vis a vis Sky.  By regularly including non league matches they have created a channel where you can see football from a broad spectrum of Leagues and levels but as far as football goes Sky they ain't .
