and brings Newsletter no 2 from the club. Offering discounted season tickets which is good news for fans and for clubs cashflow.

It also states that Ellis Green is unavailable for 5 weeks following being sent off in a Sunday league game! I;m sure in the past we have dismissed Peter Overton? and Sam Saunders for this. This will also leave us short coming into a crucual period.

I am assuming a rocket was delivered.

Superb!!

Yeah we dismissed Overton, Mr Wordworth was playing away too and Mr Kedwell alledgedly had a few extra games elsewhere somehere in his career.

I spose when these sunday teams pay them £50-£100 a game its free money.

Should be sacked but, i am sure i read hes non contract so its not costing us a bean which means Neil should be able to cover Ellis.

Not defending playing for another team but do they really get paid for Sunday League. One of the lads at work used to play in the same Sunday Team as Ellis and he was not paid. Also my boy who is slightly younger than Ellis plays for both Saturday and Sunday Teams and has to pay for kit, subs etc.

Depends who you play for.... And who you are. At least hes not contracted, cant believe he hasnt be straight sacked. Neil really is a hard task manager no wonder hes lost the dressing room.

5 weeks? Sack Him, end of story let him go back to Beckenham.

Just because a player is non contract it doesnt mean they dont get paid when they don't play, that is a pay as you play deal !  Obviously they wont get appearance fees and win bonuses etc but they do get their basic wage. Although in Ellis' case I'd expect a 2 week fine , surely .

LOL. I think not, Hes not on contract and if he is hes breached it, And you are telling me that hes banned for 5 weeks and we could end up paying him for 3 of them? I think not!

Sack Him, and sack anyone that does that. He should be fit for Welling and playing Sunday league risks injury/suspension and fatigue.

Teams in the Thanet (Sunday) Premier League will pay up to £100 per game for a half decent Margate or Ramsgate player. (If Exec Lounge Bertie were here he would confirm.)

Until this season, one pub/club type establishment owned by unsavourty types last year fielded a team week in week out with semi-pro's, including one Maidstone player who was on their injured list! One former Wings player (who I shall not name) was playing in Thanet for £40 + drink cards and the promise of a regular bunk up.

Im afraid if he's non contract he has breached nothing . I have played as a non contract footballer before and subject to breaching FA playing registration restrictions you are free to play for whoever you like , that is one of the downsides of not giving him a contract . I never played Sunday football as well as semi -pro , although we were actively discouraged not to do so the club couldnt stop us . A couple of the players used to though but they were not stupid enough to get sent off. I heard a rumour he headbutted somebody , I dont know how true this is but either way I agree with you , his services should be dispensed with ! Meanwhile he'll pick up his basic wage just like any other suspended player.

Mark i can see why we could keep him but surely you cant let players take the piss. his actions have really cost us 5 week ban for him playing on a sunday? i cannot see how he can stay he has clearly shown NO committment to Welling twice this season. he is taking the piss out of the club and the fans end of story.

The club should take 5 weeks wages off him and give to a cancer charity if he wants to stay.

SoaW  The penalty for being sent off for foul and abusive langiuage is 2 matches not 5 is it not?

PLAYERS SENT OFF UNDER LAW 12 (6)
A Player who is dismissed from the Field of Play for using offensive or insulting or abusive language/gestures, whether he has previously been cautioned in the match or not, will be suspended automatically from all approved First Team matches commencing forthwith, and until such time as his Clubs First Team has completed its next two matches in approved Competitions.

Or is it a different penalty for swearing at the ref?

"Clubs playing at Step 7 and below, including Youth and Sunday football, will continue to be dealt with according to a time-based suspension system.

If a player participates at both levels then the punishment will be based on the level at which they were playing."

Thanks for the clarification anon.

Question for anon who reponded to the JgFc post
If a player is on non contract terms how can he be entitled to payment when he is unavailable? Surely that is a benefit which applies to contracted players or does being registered with the club carry this benefit?

Hes not on contract and isnt available to play , we can simply offload him or not pay him.

THERE IS NO WAY he is entitled to pay

Risk getting tired and injured?  What would you lot say if his full time job was a gym instructor, or something even more demanding on the body?  What right does anyone have to say how part time players get their work?

The non contract player can also leave whenever he feels the need , the fact he hasnt seems to suggest he is still being paid. An injured player is unavailable or a player suspended while playing for us is unavailable but you dont stop paying them because they're non contract. Theyre still contracted to be paid for their duration at a club , the fact their non contract simply means no specific duration is agreed, you dont pay them if and when you feel like it !

Interesting angle but I would tend to disagree with the view that a player paid by one club should be allowed to play for a Sunday League club at the same time.

There are plenty of non league players employed as building labourers, sports teachers, roofers etc which carry a degree of risk as far as injury goes. As a non league semi pro that is a risk that has to be taken by the club since they are not able to pay you for your full time services.

Leaving aside conflict of interest and regularly playing 2 matches in 2 days, Sunday League football where you play for 90 minutes against sides whose skill levels are significantly less and where, deliberately or otherwise, kicking up in the air players who show any threat is par for the course and is another matter entirely.

In my opinion, ultimately it is the part time employer who makes the decision. A statement in the terms of employment regarding only playing for the club paying your wages , who will have already made a risk assessment on other employment, is justifiable.

I look forward to responses from the Human Rights and Freedom of Employment Brigades.
