I can forgive defeat against a more talented side, or perhaps bad luck, bad decisions, etc ..... one thing that should never be acceptable, at any level of football where you are being paid, is a total lack of effort. Step forward Ademano !!! He showed absolutely no desire or effort for the entire first half, and then in the second half when the abuse from the terraces became more audible, he sulked - sure abuse doesnt help, but you brought it on yourself so tough. What amazes me the most is that the manager, and his "assistant" (if he could be called that) continue to pick him. Blackman has his critics, and his ability is perhaps lacking at times, but his workrate and effort are there, and ultimately I would rather have someone like that in the trenches with me than someone who will hide when the going gets tough. Ademano - go home to Southend ..... Smith, stop picking him, he's doing you no favours.
Due to the appalling football I spent a lot of the second half watching the dugout - what do you do Nethercott ?? answer - not a lot. There wasnt even a suggestion of a substitution or any form of change tactically until it was too late, and then all of a sudden the changes were made purely out of panic. With your team losing 2-1, but everything still to play for, you opted to either stand there and do nothing, or sit on a coolbox with your head in your hands. With Smith playing, and also taking part in training sessions, it is effectively you who are managing and coaching the side. You are an embarrassment to the club, and mainly to your colleague Smith, who is at least trying to earn his money.
Smith played well today, as he has done a few times in recent weeks. Sadly, due to a lack of ability of a few desperation signings, and a lack of desire by a few more "senior" players, he wont be long until he is out of a job.
