Looking at the league table the games left and the amount of points I think we will pick up from now untill the end of the season it looks like relegation to me. On recent performances we are without doubt one of the worst three teams in this league. Sad but true!
Agreed mark but the RIGHT man should be brought in, we are in this crap because the WRONG man was brought in. The club want support... Do the right thing then...

Completley agree JGFC, we need an experienced Manager. Dolby and Ruthers FAILED at Tonbridge at a lower level. To appoint those two would be an insult to the fans. FFS Barrie get it right!

We all agree something has to happen soon. A miracle may happen and Neil Smith turns it around. Or the Hobbins boys sack Smith and we get a new manager. OK. But who? I for one have not got a clue who`s available and lets be honest who`s gonna want the the job now. We were bloody lucky last time when in this situation,we had Liam Daish on hand to get us out of the poo. Then came Adie Pennock. I can`t see us being as lucky again. Can you?
You make your own luck, If its advertised and the club appoint the best applicant thats half the battle if they appoint someone cheap who will "ahem" not challenge for promotion we will play russian roulette with relegation.
It really has to be no inexperienced manager or ex player or a manger who has failed at a lower level this time or the fans are just being taken for mugs again.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Ade wasn't the manager at G&N yet his experience as an assistant, his ambition, commitment, knowledge of local football and interpersonal skills (mentioned last but surely critical) saw him turn a side from relegation candidates to not far off the playoffs in a season and a half.
Maybe we should be looking for someone similar as in our current state and with the 'tight' budget we are only likely to attract previously failed managers.

Smith was similar to Ade in terms of playing experience, age, ambition etc but like with Ade a younger manager is always going to be looking to move on to biger and better things. Somebody who has done it at this level and is in their late fourties/fifties would be ideal. Andy Ford alongside Phil Handford would be my choice if possible.

Not sure if Ade Pennock should be flattered or Neil Smith terribly upset as there is only 6 months age difference with them both being 36. Both appointed to the Welling manager post in mid 30's.
The significant difference between them is that Ade started his managerial career as an asiistant at G&N whereas Neil went straight for a job as manager.

Not knowing much about the rest of the candidates, I would go for Phil Handford. As previously mentioned in another thread, he is still Welling through and through. He has the ability, determination and no doubts, the contacts to pull us through.
He asn't got the managerial experience.he's never taken full control of any first for long periods..some people say that phil should get the job because of what he and Ade done last season.but some ass managers don't become good managers.eg Brian Kidd,Phil Brown, Les Reed,Kevin Hales (welling and erith)Wayne Brown(erith)..
Because we were away at hampton and i was bored i went to watch erith and belvedere.i saw a briliant game of football from erith winning 8-1 and i wasn't the only welling supporters there and enjoyed it.
after watching and listening to Paul Gorman coach and encourage is players,i think he's the man for the job..
Ade Pennock was the one that came off but they still cut the budget several times on him.
Adie also left to further his career. If we get an inexperienced manager we cant really win (the way the club is run). Most will be inexperienced and goof up and thise that do well will be handcuffed by the owners or will leave to bigger and better things.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE We cannot have no more virgin or inexperienced managers or ex players.
I really cant believe some people are even considering it? An inexperienced manager is easy to be controlled by the hobbins. They are still wet behind the ears. We need someone whos been there and done it and also nows how to handle an owner and not take the outrageous CRAP that several managers of late have had to take (Parker, Daish, Pennock and for all i know Smith).
If they get another shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite virgin manager or ex player im gonna go and watch bromley every week or hornchurch till hobbins leaves or gets THE RIGHT MAN or i will come with a snadwich board at 1pm every saturday and hand ourt leaflets saying "SEE THE LIGHT, HOBBINS OUT"
PS just to give you an idea how far we have slipped. Hessenthaler is on about a quarter of our total budget!!!!!!

Do you mean Hessenthaler earns a quarter of our £3200 p/w budget or his budget is a quarter of ours ? Dover have always paid good money though .
Our budget circa £4k (believe Neil has had a budget cut this year but cant swear it is gospel)
Hess is therefore on a quarter of our budget. I believe Dover to be on a bigger budget TWO leagues below us.
Mark says we are in the middle of the budget league in his opinion, we may have been 4 years ago, i believe we are in the bottom 6 but not miles off those in the middle who will probably be on 4.5k-5k.
Peanuts?? Dont mention that word, or Mark among others will not be pleased.

I dont know if there has been a wage cut this season but I know the budget is £3200 p/w , although I think that excluded Smith and Nethercott's wages ,4k p/w is about right I would have thought.
Since you seem to be more in the know than most can you confirm whether that 4.5K includes the manager, coach, physio, fitness coach, and goalkeeping coach if we still have one?

IN FOOTBALL ITS NOT WOT YOU KNOW, ITS WHO YOU KNOW AND NEIL DIDN'T HAVE MANY OF THEM OR HE WOULD HAVE BEEN A SUCCESS.ANDY FORD AND PAUL GORMAN HAVE GOT THEM
The budget is about £4500 is my knowledge on the fact
The budget before saturday was £3200 + Smudge and Nethercott , so it may have been £4500 before it was cut to a total of the above ( £3200 + manager & assistant ) .
