No disgrace losing to a good Grays side and we held out own for a good part of the game.
We had a few "reserves" out and none of them let us down.
Ellis had his best game this season, full of running and good defending.
Muku was making mugs of their defence and was fouled umpteen times and let down by extremely poor refereing in getting no protection. Sliding tackles from behind were only punished by a wagging of the finger.
New manager in place by tomorrow afternoon by all accounts.
Alan - I wasn't impressed with Ellis at all - lots of running but no end product. He can run all he wants but if his crosses goes easily to the keeper or out for a gaol kick - what's the point. Muku was better especailly in the first half but they seemed to have a plan to kick him everytime he got the ball in the second half and this seemed to subdue him.
Omari worries me - looks a shadow of the player we saw at the beginning of the season.
I thought that Ellis had a good game and even once or twice, helped out in defence. He still goes walkabout on the pitch sometimes though and should learn to get stuck in more. Muku had another good game, but still wants to make a name for himself by scoring from anywhere on the park. Yet again, he was kicked badly and I agree with Chelwing that this seemed to subdue him. I'm just glad that he didn't retaliate and get himself booked / sent off........well done mate. When we went one nil done after 10 minutes, I thought, oh no, not again, but give the boys their due, they kept on fighting back and got the deserved equaliser. Good to see Chippy score his first goal - well done mate. At least he knows how to take them and his leadership on the park was good. Omari was out of the game and has been for some time now. It's a shame really, because he showed promise at the start of the season and it appears to have gone downhill for him. Young Alex had a good return and made some good passes. He worries me though, every time that he heads the ball, I think that it's going to stick to his hair All in all, I don't think that we disgraced ourselves, especially as Grays are full time pros and train more than we do, so stamina is a major factor. On the other hand though, the ref was terrible and should have worn a Yellow shirt. I thought that any lunging tackle from behind was a bookable offence? The guy a few rows back from me in the old stand ( who always shouts at the ref and lino - good too ) got it right when he said ' You're a bloody disgrace ref, tackles from behind are dangerous and we have had loads on us tonight..............read your rule book ) Quite right and well said mate.
