Good appointment in my opinion, lets see Fordy kick some arse, and improve the squad.

Good luck Fordy

Good news indeed.

What's the chances of Andy Ford teaming up with the assistant manager who guided G&N into the Conference with him in 2002?

Correct.

As good a partnership as we could hope for in my book.

Nothing against Mooro but not for me on principle I'm afraid.

Pleased it is all over and they ahve gone for experience. Happy to get behing Andy and wish him the best.

Why against Mooro on principle? I think we could be creating our next manager for when Andy goes (in a few years after we just miss out in the play offs in the Conference)

I can see where Bruno is coming from (ex player etc etc future manager)

However... Mooro and Fordy know each other well and Mooro could get a really good bit of experience (like Adie did?)

Wouldnt be against it totally, and i will go with fordys choice.

Correct JgFc. In my opinion it adds an extra dimension which in far too many cases impacts adversely on the players game. Just look at the reported impact of relieving management pressures on Neil (see my recent post Neil Smith and many previous posts which referred to how Neil communicated with players on the pitch when he was manager.) For those with long enough memories look at how it affected Inchie's performance. Admittedly both examples were managers but I believe it applies just as much to assistants/coaches.

I can understand the potential benefit to Andy Ford of having Mooro, who is probably coming to the end of his playing career, as coach but I don't think it would provide the best start to his management career if that is where he sees his future. I believe that he would be best served by starting as Manager at a lower level or as an assistant/coach at National level or below.

I don't have a problem with an ex players becoming manager per se but I believe they are better off starting their managerial career at another club - just my opinion based on past experience.

Bruno, in Inchy's and Smudger case they were woefully inexperienced and slung in the deep end. I would hope Fordy would be at Welling for a few years so Mooro could, if chosen as his number 2... get lots of experience.

As i said i wouldnt be concerned if mooro got the position as he does seem mr 100% and welling through and through and he and Fordy know each other.

Fordy will get the right man, he wont risk carrying someone in this situation. I am looking forward to the players Fordy will bring in, he has a record of signing good players and Gravesend didnt have a great budget.

I liked Fordy's comment in the KM that the welling fans are good fans and will get behind the team if they give 100%, If fordy can get 100% off of his team he builds then we have at last some exciting times ahead.

I'm not anti Mooro as a number 2 and there is no doubt he could learn a lot from Ford, I just believe he would be better off starting his career elsewhere and without a playing role.

I disagree

Moores playing career is coming to and end so if he wants to stay in the game then he could do a lot worse then to learn from Mr F

I agree with you Mark. He is well known in the lower league circles and the rest of the players seem to like / respect him. Everyone has to start their managerial careers somewhere.
