We were awful today - possibly the worst I've seen us. They put an outfield-player in goal on 25 and we didn't test him ONCE for the rest of the first half.
With St Albans having a run of form I think things are looking bleak, and to be honest the way we're playing we don't deserve one bit to stay up.
I thought Mooro, Mucu and the new Keeper Steven Williams done well today, but I think that's about it. I hope we do stay up and Ford can have a proper clear out and get some players in that want to wear the shirt.
For some reason I feel like we just lost 5-0 - not the feeling I should have after our first home win in months.
Once their goalkeeper was sent off I thought an avalanche of goals would follow. He went off in the 25 minute and the first shot we had at goal after that, apart from the penalty was 6 minutes into the second half.
We should have been testing the stand-in from every angle and every distance.
A pathetic performance considering the opposition but at least there are a few teams worse than us. St Albans look to be on a run but if we can climb above Weston then they're doomed. They're just about the worst team we've played at home this season.
I'm afraid I cannot agree that the performance today was poor. I've seen far, far worse this season (people don't seem to realise we're a struggling side!). It was frustrating to be pegged back at half time but we got the second goal and showed a lot of charactor to hold on in a pressure game particularly when the referee decided to even up the numbers!
Keeper, Mooro and Ryan did well at the back. Not sure Cobbs is suited to midfield (like him in defence), Nwanze did well when he came on. Ellis and Gargan had good games, Mucu and Leon played their part. Not convinced by the right back and Hustwick struggled against the 9 (who's a League player on loan) but kept at it.
We still have a hell of a battle on our hands, the St Albans game could be critical. Weston are catchable if they don't win their games in hand. Full marks for effort today more inspiration required though in other games.
Utter bollocks today. It should have been a cricket score - as said above we should have been shooting from everywhere, especially in those conditions.
We have 1 striker at the club and he's on loan. Today's bench had 5 (five) midfielders on it.
The referee was **** but not in the same ****ness league as us though I'd like to see the assessor's report.
Wingnut made the point about relegation - look at all the Kent derbies with large away contingents compared to the paltry following of most clubs in this league, epitomised today.
There's some people on here being completely unrealistic (not you these days JG:)) you'd think we'd lost, results are everything in this mess. I wonder why some people bother sometimes we won for Christ sake show a bit of support instead of wallowing in a sea of negativity.
Some good thoughts on here, to me you cannot make a full view on Fordy's performance until he has bought his own side in. I admit I query some of the substitutions he has made but to an extent I think his hands are tied.
To me the fault lies at the club. If you give a bloke two bob he will get two bob players, clearly evidenced by some of the signings made. Great tackle in the second half nealry matched Vinnie Jones's perfomance.
If the club clearly want to stay up they need to take a gamble and throw some money at it. Lewes who we know are a rich club have just signed Mark Kinsella on loan form Charlton. Bromley have signed Karl Beckford and Marc DeBolla, both useful. We need to be looking at league players who are on the edge of their teams, that means experience and dollars for us to pay. For me it is a risk worth taking.
Yes results are everything, and a win's a win. I'm normally one of the most optimistic, but no matter how you look at it, it wasn't good.
My view that we were awful stemmed from the fact we played against ten men for the majority of the match - plus they put a player in goal - and we struggled to get any shots in.
I'm pleased we got a win, I'm 100% behind Ford, and the players who show effort and commitment.
Steve Williams was good, and certainly looks like a good stand in for JT.
At least he said he isnt overly pleased with the performance. And hes asked questions of the players. I am a 100 times more happy that Ford has the nouse to get more out of the players and coach them. We all know the situation, survive and stay up and then its 100% down to Fordy to bring the players in and get a team capable of challenging for the play offs.
Back to the coleman thing, does anyone truly believe hes better than or a better bet than Gargan? I wouldnt think many would be.
How did mucu play? his usual self? a few quality runs or was he quieter?

In terms of Gargan I don't think it should be either or - we really need at least 2 half decent strikers. Whether Coleman should have been the second is pretty meaningless now as he's gone. Perhaps we should try ro get "golden boot" Harper back????
I think there is a world of difference between the young lads sent out to "toughen up" and gain some experience who are looking to impress and progress their careers and some of the others. It wouldn't do Cobbs, Gargan or Montague many favours to go (or to have gone) back with a couldn't really be bothered report.
To adopt the JGFC approach to answering my own post (no criticism intended) it also, obviously, depends on the ability of the loanee. Some just haven't appeared up to this level, or maybe more fairly in some cases, not yet up to it.

Couple of points BKK
Whatever their previous experience Beckford and De Bolla are on loan from their current club, Ryman Premier side AFC Wimbledon, who are pushing for promotion to the Conference South which perhaps says something about them as players today. Both played in the side that were beaten 2-0 by Bishop's Stortford yesterday.
Kinsella's appearance for Lewes was apparently a one off.
