Scarappy game ruined by pedantic ref who stopped at evry opportunity. Still I would have taken a point based on their form of late and I guess they may have felt the same.
James's video shoud be good, will show the run out and the end of game applause, how he will fill the middle I dont know
Both sides looked very nervous and I guess would have settled for a point. St Albans had one shot on target and we had a penalty turned down which was no surprise. That ref was never going to give us anything.
Where do they get these officials? They ranked with the worst we've had this season.
Did we actually have any corners? I can remember them having one in the second half but not us.
Ellis Green and Mucu in full flight would be enough to worry most teams in this league but Mucu in particular seems to promise more than he delivers. The final ball isn't there on too many occasions.
This is the fifth game in a row that Welling hasn't conceded a goal in open play (the two against Braintree were a penalty and a direct free kick). All credit to the defence!
Since Sonny Cobbs moved into midfield from defence, Welling have won 5 games, drawn 1 and lost 3 in 9 games!
Maybe Welling can invite Sir Alex to come down to their training ground and give tips to Mucu when to pass the ball. It worked with Ronaldo!
In my opinion Mucu is a player who will either win or lose you games. I and others have tempered comments about him previously and reading between the lines Andy Ford identified this early on when he said he was working with him. He will certainly worry defences with his pace and in doing so get the ball at the right end of the park however he rarely looks up and ends up losing the ball or failing to make a pass/deliver the ball. Yesterday was no different.
If Andy and Phil can't bring about the necessary change in his game it is my view that he will cost us more than he gains.

Lets keep the guys going before we decide who should end up in the debate of the season inquest.
I'm going to kick the ball off early and say thank you Brighton and Hove Albion in loaning us Sam Gargan and Sonny Cobbs. For us I were'nt there biggest fans at first but Sonny has given the opportunity to give Chip some space in midfield and this bloike will do wonders if given the opportunity.
Sam has the chance to do what he is destined to do ie score goals he is above the level that we are at.
Thanks guys, I just know you will give us a few more games to make us safe
Mark, Its not that I want mundane football but what is the point of getting the ball to the right end of the park only to be dispossesed because you take on one too many players or you fail to get the ball to those in a position to get it in the back of the net?
At this level we should be able to either pick up wide men who can not only get the ball to the right end of the park but also get it to the strikers, or young players who show potential for further development with appropriate coaching. In my book Mucu and to a lesser extent Ellis Green fall into the latter category. However, the question has to be how much has Mucu's game developed over the season.
I would agree with BKK about the Brighton lads whose loan spell has probably proved to be mutually beneficial.

Mark X - I do not agree that we keep both Mucu and Ellis Green. You must have noticed that neither player comes back to help out the defence. Therefore, with these two "luxury / lightweight" players in the team, the balance of the side is not right. We can only play one of these players at any one time and that has to be Ellis Green. In my opinion, Mucu gives the ball away far too easily and he causes major problems for our defence when he loses possession in key areas. I would rather play "mundane football" and stay in Conference South than play two "flare players" and end up in Ryman Premier.
Theres always get more from the flair players, keep them, add a few good players and win the league rather than trying to survive. I dont think Fordy will be wanting to Survive next year.....

I will disagree with you on Mucu - Whilst by a long shot NOT the finished article I think there a couple of points worth considering
1. Andy Ford has found his best position
2. We have been remarking how much tackling back he does do now - That needs to be improved upon BUT it is getting there
I don't know how many away games you get to but he has been a revelation in some of them
Namely Newport where he ran them ragged
By having these type players you also do another thing and that is worry the opposition defence into leaving at least 3 players back when Ellis and Mucu play
We far too often (The Welling disease) collapse back and have all 11 players in our own box at set pieces - what does that do? Well the ball just continually keeps coming back when cleared but also give little chance of defending properly due to too many bodies.
Personally (and I am going to agree with JGFC again - Oxygen for X) that Andy Ford will not be happy with just clinging on to Conf South place - he has done it before (got teams up that it) and he will want to do it again.
If you hear him in the reports - We may be happy with the points gained against teams like Eastbourne and St Albans etc etc but he has said that the results were good but the performance wasn't - especially Maidenhead
The question was aked about player development this season - well they were hardly going to do that under Smith- in fact some went backwards.
I have said it before that when we are safe (and it is when not if) then I will look forward to the team that Ford builds and yes he will make mistakes but don't we all but at least he knows what he wants
He turned up with very few loan signings left and we have to thank Chippy and Mooro for getting the Brighton lads
