Herd an interesting rumour recently. Seems that Welling will be havnig some kind of deal with Corinthian FC. Once the Corinthian youth teams reach 16 they pack it in but now they will continue as Welling United's youth sides. In addition to this Welling will train at Corinthians ground.
The more interesting part of this is the possible future of both clubs. Corinthian (owned by the wealthy Billings family) have wanted to re-establish a senior team for some time, but for some reason lack the patience to do it in on the pitch. Those in the know in Kent suggest that after a time the Billings's might try to take over Welling, thus buying their way into big time non league football. Not sure but I would imagine the Hobbins family would be interested in decent offers.
Has anyone else heard owt abart it as they say in Yorkshire?
Excuse my ignorance but I know nothing about the set up at Corinthains. What would be the problem if they took over - assuming the Hobbins would want to sell to them?
They want to buy into a team up the ladder. Not buy in because its Welling a club they care about. BIG difference imo. And putting us in their fans shoes.
How would you feel if Barrie and Barry said we are off we have just bought Aldershot.
