7 off the welling U16s have made the kent fa 22 and 4 are playing thursday night against gillingham. why are they not asked to play or train with the res. they have only lost two games in two seasons. true welling
Lets be a bit realistic and factually correct about this anonymous.
Factually I believe that the team lost 1 League game and 2 Cup finals last year and to date this year they have only lost 1 game, however, if we go back 2 years you can add another 11 losses. And believe me when I say I'm not making that factual correction to knock the side. I have seen the side on many occasions and it has improved beyond belief with minimal changes to that which Martin started out with at U14. Both he and the team are reaping deserved success for their persistence despite what must have been a very tough first season in the KYL.
I know that 4 of the side are in the Kent County U16 squad for their match with Gillingham tomorrow night and if there are a further 3 players in the pool of players from whom the U16 squad is selected then that shows just how much the players have developed under Martin's management and WUY with Kingsmoor should be shouting this from the rooftops.
It has to be recognised however that the players are by no means the finished article and are still being developed. Inclusion in the Kent County U16 set up is based upon their abilities compared with others in their age group who are not at academies.
Martin is doing a great job of developing the players and it is my opinion that next year is early enough for any talk of training with the reserves and to talk about appearing for the reserve side in the Kent League where they will be playing against teams drawn in the main from college based under 18's to journeymen in their 40's is in my opinion unrealistic.
Lets not run before we can walk.
