None of the other keepers that have come to pvr primarily as back up/ on loan / squad players have took his place. Name me a better keeper at our level whos proven and available and better. quite a deceptive shot yesterday. Keepers gaffs or misjudgements are often magnified what about a striker that misses 5 chances in a game is that not just as bad?

What about the saves he makes?

I'll be honest and say that the more you see the goal the worst it gets, however in the second half Turner was excellent, JT does have it in his locker to through in a clanger but he is also on his day a very good goalkeeper.

He had a good second half yesterday, and is normally quite reliable but please, Jamie, SORT OUT YOUR F**KING KICKING AND DISTRIBUTION!!!

A quick look at the league tables will show that Welling have only conceded 16 goals.

JT has played 15 of the 17 league games and at this point in time he is certainly one of the best 3 keepers in the league and he has been there or thereabouts for the last few seasons.

If we take out the nightmare of conceding 7 goals in 2 matches in mid September he has conceded 9 goals in 13 matches (including 7 clean sheets) and there are not too many keepers who can boast those sort of stats.

Managed to get to my first game for a while yesterday, thought JT's first half performance was terrible. How the first managed to creep in I do not know, however second half, as has been said he commanded his area superbly, and in all fairness if it wasnt for him AFC Wombles could have easily edged it.

What i do think though is that he needs a good quality keeper keeping him on his toes, I dont know whether our budget would allow for this, but a loan signing from a league two/one club would be fine. Competition should help raise his game, as he is a decent keeper at this level.

Why would a loan signing from a league club come to welling just to keep Jamie on his toes

Good point Mark, i was trying to see a way of getting round the budget as you can sign players on 'work experience', which im sure we did with Randolph a few seasons ago. I just think that at times JT's position in the starting line up is too guarenteed and maybe bringing in someone on loan would give him a kick up the arse to get him back to his best form.

People expext too much. Look at the goalkeeping in the Premiership on Match of the Day. A lot isn't great, especially at Spurs.

Turner made a hash of the first goal but his one on one from Kedwell in the second half was superb as have been a lot of his recent performances. Conditions at Newport were shocking for keepers but he was outstanding there.

glad to see posts of reason on here and not what i call "andy grey" comments - for me our defensive record speaks for itself and turner has my full support as he undoubtably(sp) has fordy's

He cost us the game at Hayes earlier in the season and nearly did yesterday. I think he does need a kick up the backside. Last season when he was sidelined thtough injury and we had Steve Williams in goal he JT came back and played well. Earlier this season we had Andrews in goal who kept 2 clean sheets and was promptly got rid of. JT has no pressure.

His second performance made up for the earlier gaffes and he seemed to regain confidence too. Talking of goalkeeping what on earth was the ref doing when he gave freekicks to their keeper cos we had someone standing in front of him when we took a corner. There was no contact and he blew the whistle as soon as the kick was taken, thought the ref was shocking even by non league standards.

Yes from time to time Jamie does produce some clangers, however these are few and far between, and there aren't many more consistant keepers around.
