Without wanting to create any false hope as it looks like it might need something pretty incredible to get us into the top 5. But weren't the rules in the conference changed a couple of years ago in that if a team that finished in a play off position would not be able to meet the criteia of the Conference Premier that the place went to the6th team and if they couldnt then the 7th (but not lower) My understanidng was that thsi was due to the Lewes debacle who spent all the money on their team and not the ground and never qualified hence denying other teams from participating in the play offs. Whilst I have never been to Hampton, is their fround Conference Premier standard? Are Eastleigh's finances all in order?
The point is whilst this is a real long shot, could 6th place this year as oppose to seventh, be just as important as finishing 20th as oppose to 21st in relegation battle years when invariably something seems to happen which then saves the highest placed previously relegated team.

RE: Play Off Rules if a team in top 5 doesn't qualify for grading /finances etc?
I don't know all the in's and out's but I believe Hampton and Richmond don't have the required number of seats to progress to the Conference National. They're trying to raise funds to build a new stand but I doubt they can finish it before the end of the season.
This was the ruling last season and I see no reason to change it: -
If any team in a playoff position is ineligible to move up to the next step then the teams finishing 6th and 7th will enter the playoffs. If this still does not produce 4 eligible teams then the highest placed team(s) will receive a bye(s)

I would love (love it) if we got into the play offs through default but Hampton have known for a while they are likely to be in the play offs, were allowed to enter them last season and aren't stupid enough to fail the grading (well you'd think) so you'd be a fool to hang your hopes on this or get excited about a potential lifelife.
