In the middle of our end of season run in - if we have even half a chance of getting to the play offs I hope they put out the Under 11's to show what a joke it is.
That has got to be a terrible decision to hold the final on a Thursday and during the run up to the play offs. I thought that I read somewhere that the final was to take place in May?
It use to but in recent seasons it has been played on a Thursday night.
I know it was becasue Ebbsfleet got to the trophy final that it was played pre season this year but that has to be a better idea than a Thursday night.
There is just not prestige with it on a Thursday night, by playing it on a Thursday it feels as if the game is a nuisnace and is played just to get it out of the way.
I maybe wrong but does it have something to do with players contract expiring after the last game of the season, meaning that the palyers are not insured???
If the game is played a week after the season finishes surely the players would expect to paid?
I can see why with little scope they are playing it ona a Thursday but surely it makes more sense to play it on the last Thursday of the season when it will be 99% certain our season is over thus allowing to be more competitive.
Surely if they play it with 3 league games to go there's a lot higher chance we will have our eye on the next game, especially if Hampton fail there grading.
I was looking forward to a day at the seaside too. I'd already got my bucket and spade out.
Thursday night is pathetic and I agree this competition needs a big shake up.
Having said that. I hope we put out the strongest side we can and win the thing. I think it also needs some publicity to get a bigger crowd in otherwise it'll be 150+.
Whitstable fans will visit Welling whenever. For us this is a really big occasion. Maybe we should all bring pressure to bear to persuade our clubs and the Kent FA to show more respect to this competition by reconsidering the date/venue. They may listen to a big club like Welling more than little old us.
Look in on us at http://www.webjam.com/norwegianoyster/ and see you whenever.
Big club like Welling???????!!!!!Haha! Seriously though, it is a bleeding daft time, day and place for a cup final. And yes, no doubt it WILL have an effect on the attendance. I'll be going anyway, but maybe the Kent FA don't even care about their own cup final.
Last week of the season , Neutral venue (Even Dartford will do!) and it will be a good day. As it is with questions over one of the clubs ability to go up and likely that we could be 8th ad still get in it will not be the glamourous or important tie it could have been.
Its not the clubs fault its the Kent FA.

Cannot realistically be the last Thursday of the season in case we go to Team Bath and are presented with a scenario similar to Chippenham a few years back. You'd be really struggling to complete the fixtures then and, IF you are in with a chance of the play offs, would you want 3 games in 5 days followed by a play off semi.
Wouldn't the Bank Holiday weekend clash with the play offs potentially anyway?
Like most people not happy with a thursday evening for a cup final, but on a postive note it is a school holiday and with a bit of advertising in the press and reducing admission prices for kids we could try and fill the stadium and create some atmosphere, im sure the players would appreciate it. On another point after having chips in the ground at both Wimbledon and Maidenhead whats the chances of us being able to provide this for our fans.
Whilst I fully endorse the idea of reduced admission charges to encourage more does the Kent FA not set the price? Or is is left to the 2 clubs to sort out. Once again a work night for me so leave will need to be booked.
