Listening to Fordy's interview, 8-10 players are hopefully staying for next season. Who do we actually think we'll realistically have playing for the mighty wings next season? To start off; Wilkinson Andrews Sinclair Parkinson Blackburn Fazza Hurrell Johnson Protheroe
I have a bad feeling that Cobbs and Charlie will leave for "bigger" clubs
If they do we will get fees for them so more for the budget and for replacements I thought Wilko was on loan to us? Ive heard of a midfielder that is possibly signing and couldnt possibly comment on that as Andy doesnt need people screwing up negotiations. I think we could keep them all baring 2 or 3 but interesting Andy has said 8-10 so hes probably lost 2 or 3 to other clubs already. I would say Mitten Cobbs Parkinson Andrews Sinclair Ming Hurrell Sheringham Fazza Johnson Blackburn Add 2 or 3 to that and they could challenge big time next year.
I hope the players feel te same and that players like Parky, Cobbs and Charlie want to give it a right crack next year and see that playing Conference could actually slow their progress down. Craig went to Peterborogh through impresing at this level and if they do the business they will get a move and if not then they are at a club trying to be ambitious and they are part of a team here that dont need to be broke up.
I think we COULD lose Sonny but... i think he might want to stay unless a decent club came in for him and matched Welling's valuation. I think Charlie SHOULD stay and then if he bangs in 15 next year by xmas then he will get his move to a League Club. Why go conference when we have a decent chance of getting there same applies to Cobb. Quinn and Baker may be surplus, Quinn missed a few games this year and isnt getting younger we cant afford players next year in smaller squad taking time to get over knocks through age.
Macca doesnt seem to be favoured by Andy, perhaps Chappell will come in and be introduced like Parky was and win his place. Mucu hasnt been consistent enough. WE HAVE to keep most of the defence they will improve and are proven at this level. Andy might be able to pull off another Sonny type coup and get Moses or Wilko to sign or a season loan from Charlton for Arter or someone similar. I hope personally Andy keeps the defence and Charlie and then the rest will stay. If we keep the defence thats one part of the team that doesnt have to gel if the side breaks up we could be up sh1t creek without a paddle and have to start again.
I have a feeling the old fox can get the ones he wants to stay to remain here. They can see hes a good manager and that we are progressing. Its a credit crunch so theres no way they can hold us to ransom and if they do and are under 24 and were offered a contract then they can wait till a club wants to take a gamble on a tribunal or they can renegotiate for next year with a gentler claus and a fixed valuation put in the contract.

The way Sonny went personally up the road end and to the sides reminded me of Keds when he went, I think he will go next season, would like to keep him but stick him in midfield I think he would be better as a playmaker and could create a lot more.
Charlie I think is at a learning stage and could do worse than staying at PVR for another year, has lots of potential but we do need another striker he can play with. A decent keeper would be the first call with maybe Charlie Mitten helping as a mentor.
We have the nucleus of a great team, lets hope we can keep it together.
No one would begrudge Sonny if he went. He didnt have to sign this year. I personally hope he feels he has as many reasons to stay as he has to go. I dont think hes a cert to go and think a full season here would do him as good as a move away. Sometimes it comes off when you move but there have been many starlets move on to what they think is a better move and they end up 3 years later playing below us. Dean Standen, Steve Barnes, Anthony Riviere etc etc You could say all 3 of those may have kicked on and done better had they stayed around a bit more at Welling and waited and developed. If they are good enough they will get their move, the right move. Not a move to go sideways or a small step up.
Craig got an early season move to Peterborough, At least if Sonny stayed he is in a settled side where he doesnt have to go and fight for a place pre season and end up hating it.
The same can be said for 2 or 3 of our side. Hopefully Andy can get them signed up ASAP. As always any that want to hang on and keep Andy waiting will probably be allowed to go even if for a tribunal. If Andy can get them signed up quickly then the squad will stay settled and be less likely to be tapped up.
