Please dont sign him Andy, he had 2 chances to comeback and went elsewhere both times. He also left us in the first place for more money. When a team who were below us last season release him then i am not sure why we would want him anyway.

Stick to getting players who want to play for us not for a pound note who have no loyalty. IT NEVER works out.

Yep and only Andys really counts, hes paid to make them and is judged on them. Baker never worked out. They never ever do.
All my opinion of course but happy for people to post past instances of mercinaries coming back and doing the business.

In fairness he left to go to a club in a higher league, like Daisie.

I don't know if he was offered a chance to come back. The same goes for Daisie.

Now you say don't take Bod back but you would welcome back Daisie.

Personally, if Hurrell and Ming stay I don't think there is room in the squad for Bod but if one or both choose to move on never say never.

Sorry Tom, have to disagree with you there mate.  Bods left to further his career at a higher club - the same as Keds.  If he was unfortunate not be be able to gain a regular place in the squad and had to be loaned out, I see no reason why he couldn't slot back into our starting line - up.
He is a wide man, fast and not afraid of taking defenders on.  He could supply the necessary to Charlie or whomever.
As for Daisie, yep, no probs. Great set piece player and of course, likes to go to Crayford dogs smile

I havent got a clue if Daisy is coming back or even wanted. But what i can tell you for a FACT . Daisy wanted to come back last year and spoke with Fordy but the budget was used up.

So while Bod turned us down, Daisy wanted to come back. Thats why i would take one back and not the other. One wants to play for us the other chose not to.

JGFC fordy tried to sign Bodkin last summer. I dont no why he did n't sign but he was still contracted to Grays at the time and he may not have been avalible. When he was released by Grays in January our budget would have been used up and we would n't be able to compete with the frenchies. A top signing for me and a player who can play in many positions which is useful in a squad of 16.

To be honest I think most players at this level just go for the highest salary and care little for the clubs history, ambition etc particularly this summer when football will be many players main source of income.

Mick Woodward would never have allowed a contracted player to join Welling without a fee.

Both Bod and Daisy were released by Grays at a time when Welling could not afford them.

Both could do a job but their demands might not fit in the tighter budgets imposed on Andy Ford next season.

Ming, Hurrell, Fazza, Johnson. Will a player who can player that plays wide be on Ford's agenda?

Hes saying we have 4 players who can play wide midfield so would Fordy be looking for another, Yiu would have to say No surely in a squad of 16 or 17.

Chris and others agree that most players just go for the pound note. My belief is a player who has left for a pound note and hasnt shown particular interest in returning UNTIL they have been turfed out elsewhere... are NOT players who will die for the cause and play for the shirt, they have shown signs of just not giving a toss about us before and the character can be questioned. I would rather not sign them.

IF they have left and want to come back as as happened in the past with success.. then fine but if you or we cant be certain theres an extra 5% out of them for the shirt or the fans... let them go and get their pound notes elsewhere. We need committed players who wont pis$ off when they see a pound note or the team hit a bad run.

If a player is offered £100 per week more, on a 40 week contract, that's £4K per year more.

How many of Welling's current squad could turn that down?

Is that just a guess? Or are you talking from experience. I admit money is hard to turn down but if they have walked away and turned down chances to come back then we owe them nothing and they will probably go again if they get the chance.

Am i the only one who believes that players cant have it both ways?

Daisie has been approached but has chosen to stay at Dartford for a bit more dough.

I guess that means he has given up on making it at a higher level and is following the pound.

Who can blame him. He's 30 and knows the Conf. South is the highest level he will play at, better off earning as much as possible whilst he can.

Sorry but never quite seen what the fuss is about with Bodkin ?

Of course he has pace but he never lifted his head to play somebody in and his final ball left a lot to be desired. Don't think we need him to be honest and I think there are better (and certainly cheaper) options elsewhere.

Agree - I wouldn't re-sign him. If a club a division lower don't think he is good enough for the conference south why would we want him. I was always surprised that he went to Grays and am not surprised it didn't work out. Very over rated in my book.

Had the ability but never quite fulfilled what was promised although he did well for us at times.

Having said that its time to move on-good luck to him whever he goes
