I guess he has realised that he is not good enough at Conference South level and prefers to play somewhere nearer to home if this turns out to be true.

Will I lose sleep over this? Highly unlikely.

I'm not a baker!

I went to bed at 11 but could not sleep. I was wrong. Has he really decided to go?

Unlike most on this forum I am sad to see him go. He was a good target man. Anyone who saw his performance at Hampton & Richmond would know that he is more than capable at Conference South level.

One thing is for sure though is that we need to sign a couple of strikers as there is no guarantee Clarke will be fit all season. Let's try to get Sam Gargan if he has been released.

We would have had a better chance of getting Gargan if Cobbs had been offered a contract. I fancy both will end up at clubs nearer to Brighton unfortunately.

Should Sinclair move on, will it be only Andrews, Parkinson and Johnson still at Welling from the start of last season?

Its not just Baker, i dont like any player that messes the club about , walks out...comes back and does what they please, chases a poundnote and then doesnt do it on the pitch for us.

Chapman, Green, Baker are 3 of them.

I wouldnt ever take Sheringham back he chose to go. But i would only have a BIG problem with him if he wanted to come back and we were fool enough to take him back.

I FULLY accept that Andy will still want players like this on what he sees as their ability should they perform. My point is they rarely do when they come back and theyve shown they dont give a shyte about us by walking out.

I am also aware that some fans would still take players like this back at the drop of a hat.

PS those 3 i mentioned all went to clubs of our level and you can add others in Rutherford, Riviere

etc etc.

If they want out to our level or below for a poundnote, i would never take them back. they chose to go.

JGFC did I miss something? Rivs definatley left for the money but Ruthers had led our team for a good few years.

I remember as a lad watching a game versus Worcester which finished 15 minutes late because of a ruckas stemming from a Ruthers tackle. He was always solid and gave 100%.

I may have missed something but i always though Ruthers left on good terms? He did become a coach or something or other at Tonbridge. Always assumed that was his reason for leaving?

Welling Jim

Ruthers put in tremendous service for us but p1ssed off after the charlton testimonial to Chelmsford for more money. He also then came back when he had an injury and wasnt wanted by them.

The end of his welling career rather blotted the previous 8 years or so for me. But you cannot take away the service he gave for us up until he squatted over us and drizzled one on our heads.

JGFC

Ahh fair enough, that was back when I first started following Welling, didnt really know all that.

He was my first welling idol purely becasue he was so committed but come to think of it leaving after the money spinning testimonial was bad in hindsight.

Ruthers is still a legend to me. He put in the years and the effort unlike some.

Abbo and Robbins also came back. Did Horton as well? I seem to remember two spells?

If you only like a player who stays forever you'll be left with Ray Burgess and Nigel Ransom - not many like them, even in the old days.

I agree about Ruthers. A true Welling great. He gave 100% and is the type of player that this side is crying out for.
