Clarke, Knight AND Sambrook who have all played in decent teams or done the business in this league.
This is better than we have done for years and some people are on a downer??
Add those to the players who committed from last season and things are looking fine. Fordy still has a few to bring in and if they are all the quality of the 3 mentioned we will have a better team than last year and for several years.

The 7 from the retained list, plus the 3 signings so far and the fact that Fordy has some players he wants to have a look at lined up for pre-season fixtures means we are in a healthier position at this point in the closed season than we have been for some years.

Knight spent a lot of the time on the bench and was swcond choice left back to Ian Cousins!
Ford is suprised Cobbs dropped down a level, implying he's good enough for this level, but has pushed him out the door to replaced him a with a player deemed not able to get in the team of the place in 5th- our target postition!!
Don't know much about Spencer Knight but I suspect his contribution will be the flexibilty to play in defence or the midfield and his non league experience. What is perhaps relevant is that he was signed once it was known that Sonny had signed for Sutton and that was what he brought to the table.
I think Sonny was unlucky not to have been on the retained list but I suspect this may have been down to Fordy limiting the amount of his budget he wanted to potentially tie up and Sonny was likely to have been one of the higher earners.

He scored against us from outside the box. Seems hes over his injuries and i havent heard Andy say hes signed him for the left back slot? So he could well go into midfield on the left.
Seems a fair crosser of the ball.

Knight isn't a left back, he's a left sided midfielder who like has been said is versatile. I think he adds some experience. Also at our level a player who can play in multiple positions is a bonus what with the small squad size. I think its quite an astute signing by Fordy.
As most of the signings have been, all with a little bit of a gamble involved but the players are experienced and have been there and done it.
Well done Fordy, keep it up. We can see you are trying and the squad has some quality in it. 2 of 3 missing pieces of the jigsaw if you fit them in then forget these mugs having 10k budgets go and rip their heads off on the pitch.
Any players reading the forum who have been approached try and see what Fordy is doing, see the experienced players he is attracting. Also see how Sinclair and Sheringham who were to be fair NOBODYS until they joined us have moved on for more money, Also Barrett went to Peterborough for 10k.... Be aware you wont get 500 a week and be a prima donna but if you want to be with a team trying that has a lot of decent players in the squad come down to Welling and give it a crack.
Theres certainly many wrong decisions you can take, so play the percentages and say yes to Fordy.
