Looks like Slade Green may be in danger of folding according to the Kentish Football site. Sad news BUT could our reserves/academy side play there - or even E&B&Q?

You raise a valid point Patsy, i wonder if to keep the place free from invading the council will loan the site out to US or Erith for reserve/youth and training? for a peppercorn rent.

Don't Erith Town play at Erith Sports Centre? If Erith & Belvedere were to move there, what would be the postive and negative implications for Welling United, eg income etc?

They have indeed returned to Erith Leisure Centre (Parkwood's wording, not mine), but I know they have high aspirations...Ryman League has been mentioned. Now we at the Athletics Club are fine with them returning (apart from us throwers!), but if there is a stadium that comes up, with facilities such as Slade Green...Never say never.
Can you really imagine that the council would do anything to help us or any other non-league team.
They'll look at the ground and just see pound notes.
If Slade Green fall then it'll be developed for housing.
Remember what happened with the old Crook Log swimming baths. All those idiots calling for an ice rink and the like. It was so obvious that all that was going to happen was it would be developed.
The council will always go for the most lucrative option.

You do have a point mate. The Council are already skint I have on good authority.
However, isn't the area Slade Green FC is in marshland???
I think that most councils are under political pressure to make available homes for affordable housing, targets have to be achieved so Government grants can be obtained.
