I just don't understand the logic. While not the biggest fan of his personality or temprament, he was one of our best players going forward and can play in defence. Like when Lee Blackburn was let go, it's a big loss and one I just can't comprehend.
I am at a loss to understand this. 2 of our best ball winners, Blackburn and Cobbs, released earlier and the other now gone too. It is clear from the performances against Dartford and Erith that we now have no one who can do this job so well. I fear for our prospects this season particularly following the bad news about Lawson
I think this might be a mistake. Yes he did have a bad temperment, but I was confident that Fordy was the kind of person who could get the best out of him and install a bit of discipline into the lad. Apart from that i thought he was a great little player who got up and down the wing well.
Still I will wait to see who Fordy has lined up to fill the wages this frees up, afterall he did mention in the press that he had a couple of signings lined up which would be good if they came off with a bit of luck!
So we lose Sinclair and Sheringham, He had released baker, cobbs and blackburn
Now hes got to replace those 5. thats his 2 strikers, left back, one of best midfielders.
He had already released McEntaggert.
So 700 lighter and hes got to replace half of the starting X1 too.
Its not ideal and he may have HAD to release some of those simpy to get a squad.
How about getting off his back, i am sure if you get him in the bar with a beer he will say he wouldnt have released some of them but he had too. Some of the ones hes kept will have been on less than Cobbs, Baker etc . hes done that to bring in a body or two.
HE KNOWS hes a few players short but thats what it is. Its not a shyte team.. its a little bit light.
Now he has a center midfielder lined up plus a loan.
If you are all cnuting him off and saying oh woe is me, whats the odds they think sod that?
Hes lost Lawson now so its even harder.
Its not the end of the world and andy will be trying his balls off to strengthen.
Try to look at the situation of WHY some players left. Hes also got a few players who can play up front or midfield to try an get us some cover
Its pre season and hes told you all hes got 2 coming in.

again i agree with jgfc - im fed up with the tabloid style criticising on here from people who have no clue how to manage a club and do it on a very limited budget
I wouldn't consider myself to be an Andy Gray! The economics of football is certainly not my strong point but what I was questioning was why let go one of our BEST players, and most adaptable to balance the books. It's a valid question.
This decision is sparking a lot of comments both for and against.
Can we all agree that whatever your view on it the most important thing is for everyone to get behind the team vocally when the league programme starts.
Let's give the lads the kind of support we know Welling fans can produce both home and away beginning on 8th August v Woking
Would Ming really have been on that much money that releasing him is going to have a major impact ?? I cant see he'd be on more than £200 a week surely, and in a budget of say £4000-4500 if we are that close to the wire that saving Ming's wages right at the start of the season is necessary then Im a little concerned. We've only just had the big Charlton gate money after all !!
A surprising move to release Sanchez. I think he will develop into an even better player. I am not criticising Andy - he must have his reasons. Also, if Sanchez was not on contract, he could have been tempted away on a seven-day notice at any time during the season - and that could have caused us problems.
Terrible news about James Lawson - I really thought it was not that serious when I saw him hobbling unaided. I do hope he is not in too much pain. Shows how much I know.
I guess, as ever, it all boils down to money and the lack of it. Does anybody know whether we have a new sponsor who can help out financially? Otherwise, I guess it is down to we supporters to stump up whatever we can afford in these straightened times to help Andy's playing budget.

The economics of football is certainly not my strong point
It does seem to be the strong point of many MDs, benefactors etc and of former clubs. Unfortunately they seem to forget the economics of the real world.
Bearing in mind the current climate we probably don't have the capability of getting short term loans from the bank or increasing the overdraft temporarily as we may have done in the past, so we literally have to work within the available funds.
I would say though that this does put the onus on us to perform to our status in the cups as this is valuble revenue. This is in our hands an we can do without further Whyteleafe moments (although the FA Trophy was good until the first thirty at Hednesford!)
Stafford is right in that we HAVE to have a good fa cup run this year - it looks like we badly need the money and let's hope we do a havant and waterloo and get liverpool away(although havant have squandered the cash)
Can understand if it is JUST about money. However, there's a feeling there's more to this than meets the eye...Perhaps something behind the scenes? He seemed to had settled a bit more at the Charlton game.
Yep agree its down to Fordy to let go who he chooses and he obviosusly has his reasons. I can see the money side of things and obviously he has to work within his peramiters.
Only thing that slightly concerns me is that he must be pretty sure that one of the signings he has made is a better bet ratio per player/wage that is being paid. He must have made a pretty shrewd judgement based on what he has seen in PSF's and training against a player whom he has seen over a complete season.
Think his talent will develop somewhere if he can find someone whom he can work with/mentor. I wish him well and thanks for what he has given to WUFC
So JGFC as well as being a pub team supporter you are also FATIST.
I hope you don't repeat those words when you come to Kingfield, you'll have the KRE army after you.
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooking
Fatist? Is this your idea of a joke Kingfield Ender? As your W*king lot have no players who know what a ball is, let alone know what a wider is, I think I'd better explain...
A WIDER is a NICKNAME for a PLAYER who plays out WIDE on the FOOTBALL PITCH. These are called the WINGS. The players who play on the WINGS are called WINGERS, but WIDER or WIDE MAN can be used as an ABBREVIATION.
Cant the WSU get something started. 100 Volunteers. £5 per month. paid by standing order to WSU. Its a start. If someone gets it going I`ll have some.
Message for everyone. Dont walk by the scratch card seller. Buy 2 every game. More raffles etc. every pound counts.
£5...All it amounts to is 2 pints less per month or 1 fag less per day.
Sounds good in principle, but in the real world, where do the 100 come from? As for scratch cards, for sure, stop and buy some from the lovely Pat and don't forget to say Hi to Si too I could miss the 2 pints per month, but never the fag per day
