Hi guys. Looking forward to our opening fixture at your place next week. Got a few questions. Is it walkable from station to the ground? And are there any decent pubs on the way. Moreover, I hear drinking on the terraces is allowed in the BSS. Do Welling allow this? If so... can't wait!
It is a largely a straight line to the ground from Welling station.
There are numerous pubs en route to the ground, as it is a high street. There are also many 99p shops.
You can't take beer from the club house to the terraces, but if you took your own cans I would be very suprised if anybody tried stopping you. I'm not actually sure if it's actually against any rules.
A few years ago me and some mates went to a Woking pre season friendly (a mate is a Woking fan) and 10 minutes in a steward tried to kick my mate out for having a can of beer on him. It's only when my mate grovelled that he wasallowed to stay! Maybe the rules have changed now or it was just a steward on a power trip.
There's a Wetherspoons (New Cross Turnpike) on the way to the ground where you'll always get a cheap pint.
Funny old pub, used to be a bank. The toilets are upstairs and I can never seem to find the same route back. That might be down to the Ruddles at £1.29 a pint though.
