Announced at today's game a hastily arranged friendly against Millwall on Tuesday night (4th August).

No thanks. I'm not risking parking my car where those scumbags might be. I thought the club said they'd never play them again after the trouble they've caused at previous matches. The supporters I mean, not the Millwall FC.

My dear 'Alan S' your statement sounds slightly bitter, I'm sure you're not referring to all Millwall fans as 'scumbags'. Maybe I've been lucky as I have always attended the Millwall games and have never had any trouble with those around me during the match. Perhaps being mentally unstable puts people off giving me any trouble. However your concerns are not without foundation and I understand where you're coming from. You'll be missed on the night.

500 people x £10 will pay for a player for a few weeks and also add another 90 mins for andy to work with them in match situations or look at a trialist. well done to the club for arranging it lets hope the bushwackers dont turn up.

Alan, as a Millwall and Welling supporter i hope your post was tongue in cheek. I could go on for a decade on this topic but il keep it short. I myself have never been in trouble, never had a fight, never wrecked someones car. Yet by association people assume I do. You wouldn't say all black people rob cars, all Indian people smell of curry, all chinese people sell DVD's as its simply not true. Neither do all millwall fans want a fight.

Secondly, as time has gone on many Millwall fans have moved out of the inner city and now reside in Welling, Dartford, Bexleyheath, Bormley, Orpington etc so a friendly against Millwall could attract a decent crowd which in turn will give help the club out. The 4000 odd sell out at the Dartford Millwall game last week shows the potential. And only around 1500 of that was Dartford fans.

Rant over and I at least am looking forward to this game!

Also Dartford had nothing but good things to say about us the fans and our club, their wooden man is still intact to prove it. Rant over, promise.

My post wasn't aimed at all Millwall fans. I myself take a Millwall fan to PVR every match. I have been to Millwall's ground many times both old and new. I have some fond memories of the old place. In fact I can even boast to having had some horitontal refreshment in Coldblow Lane back in the 60's.

It just seems that previous games with Millwall have always attracted the scumbag eliment of their support.

The announcer will constantly be telling people to get behind the barriers and of course they'll totally ignore him. The corner flags will be stolen. The off licence next door will probably get looted again. Cars will be damaged.

As I said before, no thanks.

Apparently Millwall are going to bring down a fairly strong side, don't know if there's any truth in this but if word gets round quickly enough, could bring in a bit of extra dosh that we missed out from with Charlton.

Yes, not all Millwall fans are arseholes, but being a Millwall fan is a badge of honour to a lot of South London's pondlife. Many a saturday coming home from work on the train I've had to put up with so many of these morons boasting about how many fights they've got into on a matchday and how much beer they've managed to down before groping some poor bird. And a lot of these blokes are old enough to know better.
Still, it'll be finantially benefitial for us, as long as everyone behaves themselves!!

I'm pretty sure it would be a strong squad as with the number of defenders out injured Jackett will want to have another look at the trialist(s) he has got in from Plymouth, before making his mind up for the Saints game on saturday.

Alan + Ben, I dont pretend that there are not a good number of people who attach themselves to the club because of its reputation and that it makes them look well 'ard in front of their mates or down the pub. But they are not true supporters who go week in week out to watch the club they love. The majority don't deserve to be tarred with the same brush because of a minority, thats all i take issue with.

Millwall do seem to have more idiots/scumbags than most other clubs though.

I don't remember when the scumbag thing all started though. I can remember back in the old days when the likes of Harry Cripps, Bryan King, Derek Posse and Keith Weller were playing there was never that sort of idiot at the games. There were some real hardnuts in the crowd but they were mostly decent blokes.

Bit of nostalgia, my mum went to school with Keith's mum back in the 1920's.

It's strange but although Millwall have a particular type of reputation, of my friends that have spent time at her Majesty's pleasure due to football violence, none of them are fans of that team.

Quite agree with Alan S. You knew where you stood but rarely did any form of agro break out.

The aforesaid goal keeper as well was one of the best I have ever seen, until his career was cut short ironically trapping his knee in a garage door.
