We now have a squad free of an excessive amount of injuries and yet we are every single bit as bad as now as we were a few weeks ago against Newport.
People spoke of stringing a couple of results to kick start our season. Well we did that and there's been no improvement, we've merely played against weaker opposition.
I don't like to say it but maybe it's time Ford moved on. He's taking us so far backwards in a year it's unreal. We might have signed Bodkin but instead have Finn. We might have signed Sam Gargan but got I don't know what up front. We might have had Ming & Cobbs as full backs but no we have Sambrook & Deane. We might have signed a central midfield but no we play without one. The team is depleted of quality; we have no exciting players, no classy players, no fighters.
People can say what they like about the referee, and yes he was abysmal, but we were every bit as bad and incompetent.
The ease Stortford won at was embarrassing. Previous Welling teams have always raised there games against the tougher sides and picked up points, this years inept side has picked up 2 points from a possible 21 versus the sides in the top half of the division.
Its time other people noticed what Ive been slaughtered for saying for weeks. We are clueless and in a relegation battle.
Not the best performance today but I am fed up with Anon postings suggesting Ford should go. The man is passionate and will ensure the survival of the team this year. We wont be in play off positions but I do not think we will be in a relagation battle. For crying out loud stop negative postings and get behind the squad.
Do you really think that was the performance of a side destined to finish well clear of the relegation zone?
Do you think there was anything to be postitive abbout today?
Do you think any Ford could have done any worse this season?
We'll be in a relegation battle come April, mark my words. Our ****ness has been evident all season long.
I like Ford, I want him to do well, I want him to keep is job, I'm not saying he should go just questioning if maybe it's time for him to move on. There's no doubting this season has been a disgrace.
I don't actually think that Andy is at fault. He's a great manager at this level and gets good players to play well, however as good as he is, he can't polish a turd! There were players today that couldn't do the basics. Passes went astray, players couldn't trap balls, B.Stortford won most of the headers, shots were wide of target, B.Stortford ran rings round players that just stood there and let the game go by :O
Talk of Fordy going is stupid. For a start, where who would you get to replace him? The bloke is a quality act and the best manager we've had in a very long time.
It was the players that let us down today. The two full backs were very poor. We certainly looked a little better when they were both subbed at half-time.
Also, I don't think the captaincy is helping Jack. It's good experience for him and I'm absolutely sure he'll be up to it one day. I just think it's too much to ask at the moment. I think he'll perform better without the added responsibility. I'd give the armband to King who was again our best player today.

Excellent post

The ref was a joke agreed and some of his descions rank up there with the worst I have ever seen including Sunday league football.
The team minus King, Mitten and Andrews was not good at all, Finn and Hobbs may as well been next door playing cricket, Stone was ok and won a few in the air and his hold up was alright but going forward with and without ball he brought nothing ..... must be said didnt know Tommy was playing until 25 mins in as he is as skinny as me and there number 6 was getting in the way, overall i was bored never thought we were going to score the most fun we had behind the goal was seeing how blue my foot went which passed the time. Not great but these thing happen.
The problem is now once again we find ourself in a situation where this is a nothing season we are ten points behind ... lets be honest we are not going to go on a 8/10 game unbeaten run ...... we have got a very hard FA cup game which if we play like today we may see an East Preston score ..... so lets retain the Kent cup and get an away day at a far flung place in the trophy ... we will stay up but its hard to describe as i type this how depressing that sounds .... i wish we could start again.
I would like to hear peoples views on the above .... up the wings!
PS - on a serious note we need as much support as we can next Sat so if you can please get on the coach there are spots still ... the team needs YOU!
I've never posted negatively before but I must agree with Dizzie that, with the exception of Mitten, Andrews and King it was an inept performance from the whole team. We were outplayed in all areas of the field. I feel a bit sorry for Hobbs as I feel he's being played completely out of position. When the draw was made I posted that I felt we had a chance at Dover. It is certainly going to need a huge improvement on today's efforts.

And who signs those turds? Ford needs to make a number of signings, starting with a new number two, not of the turds variety.
Correct Dizzy, this season is over and a complete write off.
I can't agree with your conviction that we won't be relegated. I don't think there are many worse sides than us. Given we are going to lose our next 3 league games things look very bleak.
We've struggled a few times before but I think we're worse now than ever.
I feel sorry for Hobbs as he's not a winger. I feel sorry for our strikers as there serive isnon-existant. They have to feed off the tiniest scraps.

Annon
Today was a poor performance agreed and like Andy said 6-7 players didnt turn up. We will not be challenging for play offs come April HOWEVER We will not be in a relegation battle either, NO WAY.

We won't get relegated and we won't be involved in a relegation battle. Simple as that. I'd say at least half the team that played yesterday won't be with us for much longer. Andy however will be around for years, and I'm glad about that.
The Anon, did you actually watch the game, given it finished at about 4.55 even for a local fan you got home bloody quick, perhaps you caught a glimpse of the game as you passed by on the bus. That is the worse I've seen Welling play in a long time and I'm surprised some of your players didn't end up in a punch up. Steve King is a good player though but the rest of your defence in the first half was just lost at sea. Whether your manager is any good, I can't comment but he is a moany old git . Officials were shocking but it was the same for both sides. Good luck for the rest of the season but on that performance and our start to the season you've got a long, hard and depressing slog to the end of thr season.

There's always some positives to be found if you look hard enough.
I though Mr Bakare looked OK, and although I'm not Mr Protheroe's biggest fan he played ok too in my opinion, he delivered some good crosses. I though Mr Stone made some good one touch passes and looked to take the game to B.S. Again I thought the two central defenders were as solid as could be and Mr King will eventually get on one of those crosses and score soon. Mr Johnson had a fair game as well although still a bit rusty. So not all gloom and doom.
I know the ref has been getting some stick but he did get one thing right.....the game started on time.
It is strange how we see games differently as I thought Johnson was one of our poorest players yesterday giving the ball away cheaply and running around like a head less chicken trying to get it back. I take it Blackburn must have been injured as Johnson just walked back into the team after 2 months out. Finn was poor yesterday as well, to many players didnt play well. Stortford were much more organised and they didnt have to work hard to win in fact other than the two goals they didnt have many other shots on target.

We were poor yesterday. The full backs in the first half had a torrid time. And it was a good idea from Andy Ford to replace them. I thought Andrews and King were OK and Mitten couldn't be faulted for the goals. I thought Parkinson had a poor game and I am not so sure as others on this message board that he is the great player he is made out to be. Finn was another one who had a poor game. He looks like he has lost confidence.
And as for us being in or not in a relegation battle it is a bit early to say but if he we play like we have then we will be. A team that lets in 2 goals more or less every game is always going to struggle.
I don't think getting rid of Andy Ford will help to be honest. We are a club without a spiv putting in a load of money so we will always have trouble holding onto players that have a good season like Sheringham and Sinclair. I personally think Ford is a good manager and if he can't turn this around I am not sure who will.
Good post. Totally agree Winkleman except the bit about Parkinson. I think he will be a great player but as said before, I think the captaincy is hanging a little too heavy on his shoulders at the moment.
I think Mr Parkinson has potential, but I don't like him playing in midfield. For me he is a better defender. I am informed that he is a midfielder by trade but I don't feel as comfortable watching him there as I do in the defence. On a second note, I get the feeling that Mr Ford has yet to make his mind up over the captaincy, could he possibly send out a team without a captain?

He's been out for a month, you need more than ONE game. give him a chance
Watched my son play sat - were Welling foolbecks like Tovil & Dean

My dear BBB, I've never liked jack playing outside of defence. It was not a reply based upon his display on Saturday. When Mr Sinclair was out and Jack teamed up with Mr Andrews last season I thought we were solid.
Tou are not alone Trig, last season I nailed my colours to the mast with my opionion that Jack's best position was as a centre half and I've seen nothing to change that view.
With nothing to lose as things are at present how about trying 3-5-2 with a back 3 of King, Andrews and Parkinson.
