I seem to recall that our Academy side was to play Stevenage Borough in the FA Youth Cup - unless it was another competition.  Has that happened, and does anybody know the result?  I can't find either team playing in the subsequent rounds.  Is the Academy still going?

There were a lot of Academy players in the main stand last Saturday. Hope that some of them have ambitions to get into the team.

The website has less info on reserves and youth this year. Last year the reserve results were posted on the website with goalscorers. This year their is just a link to the surburban league.

There also have a team managed by Rob Quinn in the Ryman youth league - division East losing 2-0 to Cray Wanderers Academy last night - which included Baby Boom Boom Bally (Alex Ball) at Left Back

www.isthmian.co.uk

They play their home games at Sevenoaks FC - Greatness Park (Midweek evening games, generally on Thursday nights)

Both Academy sides have played 4 games, have yet to win a game, and sit at the bottom of their respective leagues.

1 goal scored in the FCYL and 13 conceded, 3 goals scored in RYL and 13 conceded. Nothing to raise our hopes there.

The Academy side (don't know if a mixed side) also got knocked out of the FA youth Cup in the preliminary Round as stated above.

We also lost to the Charlton Support Trust 2 - 0 and yes the academy is still running and should be running for many years to come.

I play for the academy and I believe during the second half of the season we will be much improved as so will our chemistry. Our team is not as bad as the results suggests, I believe we are just not as prepared as the other teams yet as our academy started 3 months ago and the fact that we hav approx. 60 players means that chemistry becomes increasingly harder to obtain.

I wasn't aware of that...we played them in our first pre season game at the beginning of august and they seemed quite organised and fit...

I am pleased to see that despite the results there is still the desire and belief that things will improve during the second half of the season.  It wasn't so long ago when a WUY with K side finished last but one in their first season in the KYL and the following season with very few changes won their league and reached 2 Cup Finals.

What I can't get my head around though is an initial intake of 60 students.  Allowing for the fact that there are 2 academy sides that equates to almost 3 students competing for each place in the team.  If all students (who were selected from trials remember) are to be given an opportunity to play for one of the sides then I can't see how a stable side can emerge and that situation can only be compounded next year if there is a further intake of students.

If you read this Keith or Rob I for one would appreciate some clarification as to how 60 distills down to 22 + subs.

from your profile i see you are from Brazil and you play for Welling United! At least we have a set piece King for the future! Unless you are a goalie.

Superb and good luck for the season.

I was watching - i think 7-2 or 7-3 to Cray wanderers

I think it was more mid / late August - they commenced training 4th August

Bruno - In effect you have THREE teams, the 2 conference youth teams and the 1 Ryman youth league

There is only 1 team in the FYCL this season and they are in the Southern D Division. If you visit mitoo via the link on the official website you have to change the season to 2009-2010 for this years tables etc.
