Quite surprised it's this early into the season. Thought he may have give it a few more games considering a few players were coming back to fitness.

I'd like to see Handford but work commitments might get in the way.

Very sad to hear the disappointing news. One problem with being a football manager the longevity of the job can be dependant upon results, and as such his departure has come now. I'd like to thank him for his time with us and wish him well with his future.
But now we move on, I hope that we get a manager with an experienced assistant as I feel that is where Mr Ford's weakness was. In my opinion our dip in form came when Mr Dack left.
I will be getting behind Mr Protheroe as he will need all the support he can get as it will be a challenging roll for him.

maybe without any FA Cup money coming in Fordy knew it would be near impossible to get us out of this mess??

The mess HE put us in Gary?

Hes bottled it and quit on us. Agree with comments re proths as things stand. Also needing a manager with a strong experienced number 2.

heres another worry... Anyone not on a contract COULD just go. So we need this sorted ASAP.

just great!!

oh well im not going to lay into the bloke too much and just say thanks for the season and a half where he saved us from relegation and then the great season last year

the fact he walked and he didnt get any abuse on saturday from anyone (in fact he swore at us) is disappointing though and after that incident on saturday im not at all surprised by this

Would be intersting to hear Andy's side of the story, he surely wouldnt have walked without due cause and how much effort we put in to keep him.

Whilst it hasnt been a good start for him this year there must have been a reason for him going other tha self pride?

The more worrying thing for me is that we are back on the recruitment stage again and I dont know of that many out there who were potentailly better than Fordy but will be happy to be proved wrong. My first Welling game was in 1992-93 season when Abbo scored that goal against Gateshead to keep us up. So far then I have seen

Nicky Brigden
Terry Robbins
Tony Reynolds
Kevin Hales
Bill Williams
Paul Parker
Ade Pennock
Andy Ford

and I could have missed someone out. So I make that 8 managers in about 17 years which is just over two years per Manager and apart from Ade (possibly in his new role) none have gone on to bigger and better things. The only common thing has been the owners and I am not about to criticise them but I just get the feeling of here we go again and a complete lack of stability at the club

I actually agree with Spud and i ripped into Dacky for walking out. Now having seen Andy flounder like a fish on the beach i give Dack greater respect but still feel it was a bit hard on us just going and taking players we may have had.

Would he come as Boss? hes deffo got the contacts BUT can he get the budget?

He did what we would all do in the same place and just went for 2players who were not even ours!
He was the one with the tactics and taking warm ups and talking to players on the touchline and prob brought in the players.

Would he come back? He could get around the budget as he can bring in loan players and out of contract players.

I suppose he would be Boss, Woking arent running away with the league and We arent in the drop zone.

Would be nice if we asked, he said yes and he was in situ by saturday. Woking would choke on their muesli.

My view for what it matters. I acknowledge that Ford did a good job in saving us from relegation and enjoying a good season last year. However we are in a total mess this season and this mess is of his making - nobody else. He may have less money - nearly all clubs will have done. But he let good players go at the end of last year - Blackburn and Cobbs to name two and got in poor replacements. We are paying top dollar for Louis - why? Had to go begging for Blackburn to come back.

Any resect I had for Ford has gone. He has got us into a mess and rather than stay and sort out his mess he has run away - shameful.

My dear JgFc, call me stupid but are you saying that non contract players could not have gone before?

Of course they could have, but now the manager has walked out they COULD all just say sod this.

Do you not see the unstability of having no manager could provide an opportunity for the non contracted players to get a deal elsewhere rather than stick around under a caretaker and then a new Manager.

In a way glad Ford has gone, he's made bad decisions regarding the squad and just hasn't looked up for the fight in recent weeks.

From the Conference South board, just to add a bit more fuel

Rumour is Dack still in contact with Welling and involved in their Academy and Dack is being sought as the Number 1 at Park View Road. He wouldn't , would he? as the boss?

Crazier things have happened

Its a strange one as he had the support of the fans, obviously he realised he had got us in a mess and that he wasnt good enough to get us out of it. He may have gotten away with it (a la the pesky kids), if he had got a stronger assistant.

Good luck to Proths lets see if he can fire them up for Saturday.

I have tremendous respect for Andy - he will be a very hard act to follow.  I don't think Andy is usually a quitter - unless the job was doing his head in -  and I would dearly love to know the reasons why he left.

But, he has gone now and I find it hard to imagine who could, or would want to, step into Andy's shoes if the budget is very tight.  Only one person I know of who is doing reasonably well on a shoestring budget is Gary Abbott at Sittingbourne.

Well that's just great that is. Ford brings bad players to the club, f***s things up for us, then runs away. The man is a coward. He created this mess and he should have stayed to rectify things.

i wouldnt complain if he did take the job but before he came to us didnt he have a poor spell at sutton? (if im wrong on this one ill shutup)

but either way he's got a lot more experience under his belt now and for me would be a great choice although i cant see it happening

Or maybe he felt he was not going to be able to replicate what he achieved at G&N and left while there was still time for someone to step in to offer us the best chance of maintaining our status as a BSS side.

Like A couple of posts I agree that he stopped the club from relegation and a great finish last season, but this season has been a struggle for Andy, we all know that injuries have been a problem and its not an excuse But some performances Have been very poor.We will never know if things would have been different had Lawson not got his bad Injury.
In all not surprised he's Gone but Didn't expect this early.
As for replacements Yes Would Like To see Dack back at the club, probably one of th main reasons we did so well before his departure, OR what is Rob Quinn Doing ok he may not have the Experience as a manager but you got to start somewhere an he should have plenty of contacts....Just A Thought.

My dear JgFc, I certainly do see the problem that has now arisen. But is it possible that if the non contract players wanted to leave they would have either done so already or other clubs would have shown an interest? It may be that they will wait to see what happens and may see an oppotunity for them to get on a contract with us.
However, I do agree that this vacancy gets filled with the right person quickly to bring stability back to the team.

I've just looked in my medicine cabinet and all I have left is something called 'micro dots' I don't know what they are but I must have about 200 of them, if no one wants them they can go down the toilet.

I think Ford done a good job, he saved us from relegation, narrowly missed out on the play offs last season and won us a trophy. Its just a shame things didnt quite plan the way they were meant to this season. But I lost some respect for him when he swore to one of our fans that went to support the boys on Saturday. He left on a bad note but also done a lot of good for the club. Good luck to him, it will be interesting to see who they get in, I would like Handford back smile.gif.

In respect to Mr Dack returning to the helm at PVR I feel that this would not happen.
He is with a team that may get promoted and as such would highten his profile to a wider audience at a different level if they did.

Like spelling - I believe it should be "there" not "their". Is this Mr Ford coming on to drop hints that all is not what it seems ?- that he didn't drop us in the poo and walk away.

Please explain more

My dear JgFc, I wish you would get straight to the point and not 'beat about the bush'.
Look at the spelling and the grammer, you would see that particular posting was written by someone of a low level intelligence and not one of Mr Ford's standing.
