The posting on Connie South forum also says that Wings fans can email questions to Andy nonleague@bbc.co.uk
I must say I am very sorry to see Andy go, yes there were a few times when I cursed him and the players, but I would re-engage him right now. It will be interesting to hear Andy's reasons for stepping down, could it be trying to make things work within budget, suffering such a string of injuries early season or just sheer frustration?

After listening to the interview I've got a lot of respect for Ford. He said about the budget but more importantly admitted he had made mistakes himself. He never blamed the injuries athough it was bought up and i suppose he is a realist when it comes to budgets and success on the pitch.
He did say that success on this budget is not possible. So thats an eye opener for the fans and the club. Further proof that investment or a good commercial stratergy is needed.
Thout it was a bit weak the interview. Skirted around issues rather than explored the other issues. He has said a few times thats the main issue. But we hear he said you dont know the half of it? That was his chance.

I would say success on our budget is unlikely but with the manager, right team spirit, a few uncovered gems you just never know. Always going to be difficult when you have less than the previous year.
If we can't compete and expect to go up out of this ****ty league then the club might as well do everybody a favour and disband, to stop the constant dissapointment, rejection and heartache supporting this club brings.
In the time I've been going, and it's been a good 15 years our average league postition has been about 15th. Has any club at this level and above got such a history of being ****e.
Being a real football person I'll never turn my back on my club but if our ambitions are to finish above the drop in this divison, whilst the likes of Thurrock, Braintree, Bishop's Stortford and Eastleigh make the play offs I have question if this club has a future.
In other news Worcester were beaten tonight, so our game on 7th November goes ahead. Should be fun

What a negative piece. We all want to do better, the clubs needs to change and adapt but it's not constant disappointment, rejection and heartache (this season maybe). AFC away last year? Some of the football we played last season was the most enjoyable I've seen for a long time.
It's still the most senior club in Bexley that has potential in a highly populated area. We're in a league one step away from the likes of playing Luton, Oxford, AFC etc. Just two steps from the league itself. However bad you think this league is the managerial vacancy will attract plenty of names.
The time has come in my opinion for the club to stop being 'a family club'. Fine - let Barry run it but he must appoint staff, bring in people with new ideas and professional business skills.

Not going to happen. The time for that was 15 years ago when we were still just about on the up or when Graham died. Much easier to do, much more likelihood of it working. Think we are too far along the line for attitudes to change on that.
Just can't see it happening or who'd want to buy it or buy into it. On crowds, we should be halfway up this league. London costs probably offset travelling costs from some of the far flung outposts. This probably IS our level. Given there are probably not enough people to form something like a supporters Trust, I don't see at the moment how you get to the position where you can start to sort out some of the more fundamental off field issues.
Why does the club not go to them and invite kids along for nothing and pack the ground out regularly that way.
I am not suggesting every week but on an occasional basis - so as not to upset the more regular paying customers.
Such a strategy would perhaps see the younger ones bring an adult along who would have to pay...but more importantly might increase the general fan base. At the very least the club would make some money from increased programme sales etc. - and may even encourage the youngsters to turn up the following week if they get the Welling bug?
Just a thought...but surviving on gates of 500 is really not commercially viable - especially now the team is out of the FA Cup and in need of funds.
Re the schools point...I am aware Charlton still operate this, but not at the level they used to. Dartford, I think, do the same...Considering we are the most senior side in Bexley, why shouldn't we do this? There's enough schools, enough people wanting to go to a match but can't afford the higher leagues, enough kids bored on a Saturday...The people are out there...
but surviving on gates of 500 is really not commercially viable - especially now the team is out of the FA Cup and in need of funds.
we have survived on those gates for years now - the fact that Barrie doesnt allow the spending of money we dont have is the reason the club is still here
Agree with you Slim that the schools option should be explored and also agree with J that the club has to live within means/ budget and has done so for years.
However, encouraging kids for free occasionally - and those youngsters might drag an adult along with them - is a viable commercial enterprise.
Realistically if you added just 250 kids to the gate and they brought 100 paying adults with them the club has a further £1,000 income every other Saturday? ( And that is before programme sales and other things we can encourage to be sold within the ground)
Why not try it....nothing to lose and everything to gain.
As for JGFC.....appreciate this may have been mooted/discussed before but does not mean it could not be tried and acted upon this time around ?
PS
''Fail to Prepare...Prepare to Fail'' as they used to say in my days in the SAS ( that's the Swedish Air Services!)
i agree with the schools point and it's happened before - the last time i remember was that cambridge game a few years back when the main stand near the park was taken up with kids who got to watch a great game of football!
dont know if any have come back but either way it's still a good idea
Something has to be done. It frustrates me to know that we live in one of London's biggest boroughs yet we attract such paltry attendances. Even on our play off charge last year the numbers stayed the same. Yes, persue the schools thing. I'm a Welling fan because I remember coming along to the odd game when I was a kid and I'm proud to support a team where I come from and where I went to school. Stick adverts up in the schools, or kindly ask headteachers to mention the club in assemblies, simply to engage kids' interest. Sounds daft I know but it's better than nothing. Stick the odd advert in the local rag, with a special offer even if it's only a small one on the back page. I bet most people who might glance at the Welling United report on the News Shopper don't even realise that for only 10 sovs they can actually watch these games in a proper muck and bullets atmosphere just down the road, not sunday league with mums and dads of the players being the only ones who turn up. And people can't just say 'oh it's not going to happen, attendances will never change'. Like Joe Free says......nothing to lose, everything to gain.
if we stuck an advert in the News Shopper and does as hes says we have a chance. Yes I know we may have done it before but that was then and this is now
If we spend a bit ad get more back then its an investment, if it dont work we have learned for the moment and we move on
Joe Free said........ Realistically if you added just 250 kids to the gate and they brought 100 paying adults with them the club has a further £1,000 income every other Saturday?
Just Out Of Interest and Not Knowing Does The Club Do A Family conssesion Ticket. Also I See the Paper been mentioned Great Idea. But What if Flyers were done n put in windows ie Cafes or even in the Earl of Warrick Pub or even The Nags. I Appreciate its Time But We All Go In These Places. If there was flyers done and on the WSU table then anyone wanting any can just pick them up and when in their local put it up, Its The way My Band works. Advertise it yourself. Why Not Advertise At Charlton games. God Knows What It Would cost But They got an average at the moment of 17,000+ and Some people would come.
Earlier I went on facebook and nothing mentioned on any welling site be it the supporters team or The Welling United Group. It Maybe A crazy idea But its Cheap And nearly everyone uses it.
If My Ideas Sound Daft Sorry Just Tryng To Get People To Watch. Then again Be interesting if they had gone up via play offs whether more people would have attended.
It all comes down to people doing it though, As the club has always been close nit and a few employees, change and advances in marketing the product havent come on like they have at other Clubs.
It is to be expected. Have the club even got broadband? Or a PC?
Take Crayford Dogs, they have a mailing list. They TEXT people on the list to say.
"Come and watch the racing on Friday for £15 and get a 2 course meal and a pint"
Now Welling could text,
Come and watch the boys this Saturday at Park View Road for £10 or £21 for a family of 4. Show this text at Club shop for 5% off on Saturday Only
Also
Advertise Golf Day, Events in Clubhouse, Raffles and Draws, Season Ticket Offers, Deals in club shop etc etc, just getting the thought of Welling in peoples minds.
Easy way to hook up people to a mailing list. Raffles, Kids for a quid, Schools invited to the Matches, local businesses. The Gold Bond / Sportspool schemes etc etc. Soon they will have a massive mailing list where they can SMS and Email people to keep them in the loop.
Plus have a latest news email that people subscribe too that Barry can sent out ahead of the website.
You would be surprised how much turnover would be created from an active mailing list especially one people can add themselves to on the website and its so simple to manage.
