I have just read Barrie's quotes in the story about the need for a young, enthusiastic and ambitious manager. Then I read that the Hobbins family would step aside at some stage if a good offer, with investment, came in for the club.
Then I thought, yes we would probably get the investment but what sort of club would it be without the Hobbins family? Would it be more remote, would it become too much of an impersonal business, even unfriendly? Being selfish, if an offer did come in for the club I would hope that there would still be some Hobbins representation. Damnit, I'd really miss them.

They need to step aside if this club is ever going to move forward. There just seems to be a lack of ambition from them. Bring in the next Dubai consortium to Welling!
Full details can be found here, but young and ambitious may rule out some people. Others may be young and ambitous but simply not up to it or not proven which would be a bit of a worry.
If the right offer came along and someone could prove they could take the club forward.
Well done Barrie. People know you are trying and this is the first EVER sign from the family that they would sell, i would rather you took on directors and brought in investment. I concur that a Hobbins should remain on the board if it is completely sold.
Good luck to Proths and the players on Saturday, We have never liked Chelmsford , stick it up them.

It would be a whole new ball game for the club if the Hobbins were to sell up and have no further involvement. My fear is that someone would come in throwing money at the club and then just as quickly pull out again if they or their companies hit financial problems. You only have to look at the long list of clubs who've been in financial trouble in recent years to see the result of this sort of thing and to appreciate how well controlled this club has been. I would hope that Barrie and Barry seek help from others in running the club if it is becoming too onerous for them rather than sell up completely.
Barrie never actually said he would step aside in the article. It seems as though they would look at something one day - perhaps getting investment without stepping down.
The Hobbins could still own a majority of the club.
