So i thought lets have a few flash backs of memories we have off the mighty wings good/bad ... things that others may remember and something light hearted to stop thinking about are situation at present .......
. Best Welling game - Afc last year the whole day winning for the supporters in the morning and then going down to their place singing the whole game and going mental when we scored and winning what was at that point a very important game for us - also the away day at Blyth going by plane to follow the wings now i for one think that is hardcore support.
. Worst Welling game - Clevden town - we know why, Basingstoke away think it was three years ago with the fog could hardly see and i remember we only found out they scored when the cheers got louder. And last season after beating Afc and then going to Maidenhead and getting beat and seeing some of the worst personal performances ever Ming anyone.
. Best away day - Huddersfield, Reading obvious reasons, Afc as stated and Blyth. I also love going to Basingstoke every year.
. Best welling players - Leon Solomon, Danny Kedwell, Tony Sinclair, Chris moore, Jamie turner ( on his shot stopping) and Mike Rutherford.
. Worst welling players - Ellis remy ( watched the guy practice shooting at Histon OH DEAR ), Joe Healy, Che Stadhart, Keith Rowland and Lloyd Blackman.
. Wasted talent - Ryan Martin, and Ellis Green also Ross Lover wish he stayed the guy is good very good.
Other memories include meeting Matt the hat at a cup game against Folkestone Invictia nearly starting a punch up as both sets off fans watched a shoot out, the banter was getting a bit out of hand. At PVR the guy in the wolf suit jumping on the pitch and the floodlight. Many others with away trips and that now in my 11th season of watching the wings and as much as moan about the club had some good times watching them.
Great game VS bath, unbelievable support at the Vetch Field, Handford said he was nearly in tears on the pitch at the support at Swansea.
Worst
Barrow away in Conference absolute shyte got thumped 6-0 or 6-1 . long trip home or maybe the time at Stafford, 2-0 up 11 minutes left, lost 3-2.
Best Away Day
Swansea City, absolutely UNREAL support and real unity from the fans.
Best Welling players
John Bartley, Terry Robbins, John Glover, Duncan Horton, Kevin Seabury
Worst Welling players
Paul Sawyer, Roy Hales, Neil Horwood
Wasted Talent
Danny Kedwell
My memories
Catching the ball at barnet in injury time from a deflection for a corner to us at 2-2. throwing it over Handfords head to the halfway line to waste time, ref adds it on they break and get a penalty that wasnt and won 3-2
trapping the ball on my thigh in the freezing cold at aylesbury in shorts and having a mark for a week. The fact that all the players used to drink with the fans and not sod off at 6pm
Sunday lunch in the clubhouse for drinks with plenty of fans there every week.
Eating SEVEN hotdogs at havant before halftime
Having a row with stan flashman at Barnet and Barrie Fry telling me to leave stan alone.
Me signing John Glover back for the club after he had left and gone to redbridge. YES i signed a welling player! (After Graham asked me if i could sort it when i said to Graham i could get Glovesie back).
Paul Hyde offering me out in the box after Dover has beaten us and me saying come on then and him running off the pitch. We made up when he signed for us.
Paul Barron punching sky pundit Andy Gray in the face at a corner kick on purpose.
Tudor's reports on the radio and his company on away days.

I've been following the Wings since 1979 so many of my memories are from quite a while back. These are what spring to mind.
.Best Welling games: beating Halifax 6-2 when they were top of the league and had hundreds of supporters at PVR and the 6-2 win against Slough when Danny Dichio scored 4 .Worst Welling game: the 6-1 home defeat against Leyton Wingate (can't remember if it was FA Cup or Trophy) .Best Welling goals: Gary Abbott after beating 4 or 5 defenders v Gateshead and Steve Barnes shot from around the halfway line v Bromsgrove .Best Away Days: v Gillingham in the FA Cup and v AFC Wimbledon last season .Strangest Away Day: Getting soaked by heavy rain at Margate despite being under the stand due to the big holes in the roof .Best Welling Players: Paul Barron, Nigel Ransom, John Glover, Andy Townsend, Mike Rutherford, Richie Hanlon, Terry Robbins, John Bartley, Danny Kedwell .Worst Welling Players: Can't say as I tend to forget the bad ones .Best Manager: Adie Pennock .Worst Manager: Neil Smith .Worst Welling Moment: Dave Lindsay breaking his leg just in front of where I was standing with a crack that sounded like a pistol shot Most of the time supporting the Wings has been enjoyable and the 1985/6 season when we won the Southern League by 23 points was incredible only 2 points for a win in those days). We were virtually unbeatable. Oh for another season like that now!
Greendale, Leyton Wingate was a Trophy match and we met them in the same competition the following season, got our revenge at the second attempt and ultimately went on to reach the QF something we have only achieved once since.

One of the lasting memories must be Abbo scoring all 5 goals with his head in the FA Cup game against Alvechurch. Fairly sure that this hasn't been equalled.

At Macclesfield Town where i sat next to Gordon Strachan and Brian MCClair. I THINK that was where clemmo scored with a pelvic thrust and nudged it in with his left gonad.
Lost 2-1?

Another memory Stuart White's goal at Enfield. Received an under arm roll out from the keeper, ran the length of the pitch and calmly fired it past Andy Pape for probably the best goal ever scored by a welling player.
Other great goals, the goal by Joe Francis at Swansea, the set piece that knocked Gillingham out and Abbo's against Gateshead and Barney's free kick against Bath in the FA Cup.

Best Welling game/Best away day: 2-1 win at Dorchester in FAC 4THQ including a brilliant goal by Bodkin where he picked up the ball in his own half beat 4-5 players and nocked it in the onion bag to send us to Huddersfield!
Worst Welling game: Balls ups in the same round against Dorch in a replay at PVR when we would have had Wigan away and losing to Weston at PVR. Did n't go to Clevedon game but very pissed when I saw the result of that one.
Best welling players: Danny Kedwell. If he was n't in that team for two years we would have been fighting relegation in my opinion. Chris Moore also a class act. Richie Hanlon and Terry Skiverton- far too good for our level.
Worst welling players: The ones that do n't care. Like Mickey Haswell
Wasted talent: Sanchez Ming, Ellis Green, Antony Rivere, Dean Standen

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh When the Wingssssss
Swansea in the cup was a bit before my welling days, how many did we take there? remember reading a report on WIE a while back and the pics probably didn't do our support justice by the sounds of it!
Only been following the wings since 1999/2000 but here goes...
Best game: The Reading game in the first round at their place was one I always remember, wasn't a great game as such but more a proud moment. At the time they were top of Division 2 and therefore the highest placed team in the competition at the time. We only lost to a Jamie Cureton header in the 60th minute and had a few chances ourselves in the first half. Also thrashing Folkestone at home 5-1 in a replay in front of a bumper crowd to set up said Reading game!
Worst game: Clevedon, we just never turned up and at the time I wished I hadn't either. Losing to Grays in the FA trophy - some of their fans were mouthy flag waving arseholes.
Best goal: Bods brilliant run and finish at Dorchester in the cup to set up the Huddersfield first round tie. I also enjoyed Des Boatengs goal and celebration against Hornchurch a few years back.
Best away day: I always like trips to Dorchester for some reason, and any of our cup ties against league clubs.
Worst away day: Travelling up to Cambridge for a bank holiday fixture with my dad, only to arrive at the ground for 3pm as the players coach pulled out of the front gates. After asking a steward where everyone was we soon realised kick off had been brought forward!
Best players: Ritchie Hanlon, Rivs, Ruthers, Leon Solomon, Nade, Keds
Worst players: Lloyd Blackman, Keith Rowland - how he got capped at international level I do not know! had certainly lost a lot of 'quality' by the time he reached our level.
Best manager: Adie Pennock
Worst manager: Bill Williams, some of the players he got in just never gave a sh*t.
Wasted Talent: Dean Standing, Welling to Luton, to Welling to Ashford to god knows where.
We took 7 coaches, i think... Clenchy might confirm if he reads this. But the singing was unreal, our players were crying after the game because of the support and leading twice. It helped we were under cover.
Other highlights standing at Elm Park and holding Reading to a draw and taking the lead at Orient where we must have had a 1000 plus there. I didnt enjoy Gillingham away, crap game and crap view.
Bruno you were right.. it was 1-0 when we lost at Macclesfield in the Trophy Quarter Final
So thats 2 Quarter finals we got to in the Trophy? Lost to Macclesfield and Grays. Was the time we were somehow beaten at Woking the last 16?
Its definitely time for us to have a big run in one of these two, lets hope we get the dream draws that some other clubs seem to get. This team can get to the 3rd round of the FA Cup to equal the time we lost to Blackburn Rovers in that round 1-0 and also they can Win the FA Trophy as most teams in the Premier couldnt give a toss.

Time for Healy to leave worst player ranks and Kedwell wasted talent ranks methinks!
Quite right Spitey. When I first read this I couldn't be believe that one Joe Healy was in this category - then I realised it was a post from 2009. Shows how much the man had progressed.
everyone has beat me to it with the Dorchester away 2-1 - what was that woman with the pram up to that day if anyone remembers?! and that awful Clevedon game a couple of years ago was my worst football memory
and ha ha forgot about the Welling Werewolf - for those two games he turned up to he was more entertaining than the football! "please leave your c**k alone" and everyone chanting "jump, jump" at him and then he dived on the pitch - classic!
That was a great own goal smashed it home from outside the box, Messi would have been proud, yeah it was that game i think . Cheltenham went 2-0 and they won 3-2?

I don't like a 'bad player' category. Whoever pulls on a Welling shirt will get my support as long as they try their best. If I'm going to have a go at former players it would be the likes of Fat Wallet or Neil Trebble who would be my targets.
to be fair Joe was not doing it in previous spells but last year he was superb and really showed he can play at this level and be a big plus for us. I actually said Joe in previous spells you were **** but now you are superb, he said to be fair... i was **** before.
I think its the fact hes grown up and realisied he isnt at millwall any more and also that left midfield is his position not as striker.
Hes a fantastic player for us in this latest spell and he won the crowd over and proved daisy right, Proof of the pudding is i dont think there is one fan who wouldnt want him to stay for next season.
Remember the thread is a couple of years old and back then joe wasnt doing the business, now hes proven what a great player he is and all that stuff is a distant memory.
Theres only one Joe Healy
