Fantastic result for the wings! with the small club from Welling trouncing that funny team from milton Keynes 5-1 all I need now is England to win 5-0.
First time this season that we actually looked a decent side who could pass the ball. Whitnell,Finn were sublime today and even Stoney put in a good shift. Was very impressed.
Yep, great result and a deserved win. Think Staines may have had other thoughts on their minds and may have had a couple of players missing. However, we looked like a decent team. Liked the idea of Mr Protheroe as captain and that Daisey let Mr Finn take the corners. Don't know what happened at half time but Mr Clarke played his best yet.
A good all round performance today, even Mr Stone. But would like to see him chase the ball down a lot more & when their full backs are been chased down by us, gets in there to stop the back pass to their keeper. But as a team we played some lovely passing football today.
A 3rd clean sheet & not forgetting how many players we have out today, take it Jack is back next week ?, anyone got any info on our injured players ?.......
Agree with everything that's been said. Impressed with whole team today, thought they all worked really hard. We made Staines look very very ordinary. Play offs don't look too far away if you look at the league table.......
Definitely our best performance of the season today. Everybody played well.
Hard therefore to pick a Man Of The Match but I think my vote would just about go to Michael Deane. Almost scored the goal of the season after his terrific run.
Think Andy Sambrook also deserves a mention for a very good game in an unfamiliar position.
Man of the match for me was Mr Finn. Put in a lot of effort and is getting used to passing the ball, seems to be going from strength to strength. Supporter of the match today was obviously myself, for being nice to everyone around me and giving constant support to our players.
for me Day was the most important player on the pitch as he was playing the Gareth Barry role today and sitting back but he can pick out a pass and he keeps things moving in midfield
we looked very good today and you can see how a couple of wins have given the team confidence - we arent that far off the playoff now so im talkiing about promotion from now on and not relegation lol
Sorry Mr Trigger but you are wrong with your MOTM choice. Excellent as Mr Finn was his final ball wasn't always as good as it should have been.
My dear Andrew Nicholson aka Courtjester. The good thing about naming a man of the match is the fact that it cannot be wrong. It can however be questioned. The one thing you may be forgetting is that when Mr Finn reads my posting it will spur him on to a higher level.

i thought he had a good game today and him and Protheroe were linking up well down the right hand side first half
i dont think anyone can be faulted today and is without a doubt the best performance so far this season
Lee Clarke was outstanding in the second half, he was really up for it. I did think that Mr Andrews didn't have his best game today. Still played great though.

Far from it Mr Trigger, there is a simple mathematical formula which can be used to calculate MOTM.
Your posting may indeed encourage Mr Finn but may discourage those who are not the recipients of your largesse.
There were several interesting performances yesterday from players who have not impressed much this season.
Sambrook was excellent at centre back. Normally looks unconcerned by anything that happens on the pitch, but yesterday was quite outstanding.
Protheroe - very solid game. Supurb going forward. solid support for Finn
Finn - for the first time this season actually made the correct decisions more often than not (when to pass, cross, run, shoot etc). Too often this season has taken the wrong option.
Stone, possibly MoM. Won a significant number of headers. flick ons caused many problems for Staines defence. Also has started to genuinely run down defenders. Looked like Staines like to "build from the back". Both our forwards put a stop to that. Also gives us a real physical prescences up front; something we have been missing since the days of the devine Mr Kedwell.
Clarke. I believe his performance owed a lot to Daisy. Because Mr Day played the "holding" roll, it allowed Clarke tofunction further up the field. Simple intelligent passing, solid blocks and tackles. Better than anything else we have seen from his this term.
I appreciate that we were playing an under strength team, but we beat them and beat them well. If we could only get a 20 goals per season striker, then we could still reach the play-offs.
Have to agree with Markx, with his MOTM. also a well done to us the fans who braved the weather, 462 not much down on a normal day, shame staines didn't bring many !
Great performance and if we can keep this up we could and should be relatively clear of relegation by the new year. We are only 7 points off the playoffs and if we keep up the level of effort we showed on saturday and we stay injury free there is still hope of a miracle. But still a lot of work needed and a long way to go so more of the same Daisy.
Can I have some of those drugs you are taking please ?!?!?!?!
Granted the bloke put himself about ealry second half but he doesn't do anywhere near enough for a striker at this level. And I have still only seen him have one shot?
Whitnell for me is a "super sub" - can't fault his finishing but needs to contribute more over ninety minutes.
Definitely need a striker with some pace up front and/or a target man to play off.
All did pretty much nothing in a game but scored, a poacher is good to have, Thank christ hes scoring. Stone , Hobbs minutes to goals ratio cannot be too great?

It's funny how we can all be at the same game and have such different opinions on what we see. Personally I though Stone was poor. "Touch and Tackle" as Bubbles so correctly christened him. He has played lots of games now - attempts on goal can be proabably be counted on one hand. A new striker has to be Jamie's priority.
I also thought Whitnell showed some nice touches yesterday - plus he knows how to score - I think we should stick with him and give him a run starting games. With confidence he could get 15-20 goals a season.

Stone seemed quite slow on Saturday. There were plenty of occasions when he could have at least attempted to run for the ball before Staines' goalkeeper got to it and he would just about jog for a bit, then turn around and slowly jog somewhere else. He was ok, but he hardly put in a great performance. He never seems all that bothered, almost as if he has something else already lined up.
I don't think he has anything lined up but I think his performances show why he was available after the season's start and was part of Ford's desperation to find a big striker up front.
Personanly I though that Bubbles and the Dog Killa could do a good job for us with Trigger just behind the front two. But what do I know!!!
Stone wins a few headers and can lay the ball off but has precious few other striking attributes at this level. Did set up the og though and is a trier who sadly ran out of steam a bit. He did look isolated at times.
Whitnell is improving and can certainly finish. Must be consistent in his general play though.
We do need another striker unless Clarke can transfer his excellent performance further forward. Hobbs doesn't convince I'm afraid for all his running.
I mostly agree with Spitey's post. It was probably Stone's best game to date, but overall I don't think he's good enough. At the moment we don't have better, but I hope that will change.
Whitnell, I feel, will improve with time and good coaching - and that, he should get.
I thought Clarke was great on Saturday (and in fact, pretty good at Worcester). So he may not work out as an out and out striker, but has performed well behind the front two. Let's not forget his good shot resulted in one of our goals on Saturday.
Overall I'm actually quite excited with what's going on at PVR. As with the other thread it's a shame there's not going on more commercially, but I understand that it's catch 22 with regard to employing someone, and finding the money.
