Just came back from the match. We were the better team till they scored, then after that till the final whistle it was hoof ball. Most of their players were taller than ours and we kept kicking the ball in the air. Chelmsford won most of the headers and we weren't keeping the ball on the ground enough. Add to all that it was bloody freezing as well :(
Why do we do that...our best football is when we play it on the deck.......also we have one of the shortest forward lines kown to man so what do we do...lob it in the air
Missed Finn & Tom, had the few chances fallen to him ??...... As for the two new boys, early days but not impress at all. Need to step it up again on saturday.
The referee and his assitants were poor........but they nearly always are. But yet again a visiting team "plays" the officials so much better than us.
Squealing after every tackle (not that we made that many) Surrounding the officials every time one of their players hit the deck Laughing and joking with the officials Appealing for eveything no matter how trivial
I don't like that way of playing but, as the saying goes......"if you can't beat 'em then join 'em."
Not since the days of Pennock has a Welling team learned to play the officials.
No complaints over the final score which woudl have been worse but for Mitten. The team needs some power and strength in midfield and up front. The front six must be the smallest and most lightweight in this league.
We had chances but I have no arguments with the result. Wingnut is right - Mitten made three great saves to keep us in the game. Not sure their keeper was called upon to do anything significant.
I thought we looked light weight on Saturday up front and again today. Could not understand all the high balls when we must have the shortest forwards and midfield in the league.
And why isn't Jamie playing - probably our best midfield player. He was on the bench so must have been fit.
Couldnt agree more but they are not a bad side, much as though it pains me to say it and their no 11 ran us ragged all night. Think the long ball was as a result of every time we got the ball they were onto us so we had no time on the ball. Having said that we were second to the ball most of the evening.
Thank heavens for Charlie Mitten, how many goals he must have saved us this season I dont know
hold on-yes I agree Charlie is in great form and if we paid him per goal stopping save we would have sold the ground by now, but lets not forget that we haven't got over Christams yet and ther's a long way to go(hope I haven't poxed his luck!)
When Charlie came here wasn't he to help Jamie Turner as a no2-what a great signing that was!
i think when SAM H came on we started to play thro the midfield more and looked more likely to open up Chelmsford - previously to that it was only thro LOIS FAZ, other wise it was a long / high ball against a TALL (UNDERSTATEMENT) TEAM.
