Did the reserves have a game today? I would rather have had one of them on the bench today than being one short. Even if he was never going to be used it would have been experience and a boost for everyone else in the second team.
Whoever is scoring the goals for them should be given a try in the first team. With Pugh gone and Whitnell and Lawson injured we're deep in the brown stuff.
A tad generous on our second half performance in my opinion Mark.
Disagree Bruno we dominated the 2nd half, but Eastbourne just sat back and soaked up everything we threw at them. First half the game was laboured and we looked lethargic. The worry was we never looked like scoring. Andrews my man of the match and for me Johnson and Sambrook need to be looking over their shoulder as they are not producing at the moment.

I agree the second half was better, but eastbourne never had to get out of first gear. IF welling utd are to to compete at a higher level, everything needs to be improved, starting with the hobbins family raising the playing budget for next season. sponsorship in place asap. YET AGAIN TO MANY PLAYERS ARE NOT UP TO THE JOB. we are now out of fa cup, fa trophy, london senior cup. MR DAY has time to push for play offs ,or just blue square south safety, anything higher would be very hard with this squad of players. SPITEY DONT WORRY ABOUT ME ONIONS.
I think Jamie sums it up perfectly. We definately missed him yesterday in the midfield. All we can do now is win as many league games as possible and if they take us to the play offs brilliant

MR DAY states he thought welling didnt believe in themselves, well thats his job for the week ahead make them believe. THE PLAY OFFS ARE WITHIN SIGHT BUT THE PLAYERS HAVE TO WANT IT AS MUCH AS THE SUPPORTERS. digging up onions thats shallot.

Maybe our interpretation of domination differs Spills. I would say that we dominated (controlled) the last 10-15 mins and had we played like that for 90 minutes we would almost certainly have won the tie. However, the vast majority of the game was dominated (controlled) by Eastbourne albeit with their somewhat negative approach which made for the sort of game you do not expect in a knockout competition.
I don't disagree with the statement that we played better in the second half but that of itself does not equate to domination of the game.
In my opinion the really worrying thing is the teams performance first 15 mins or so against both Worcester and Eastbourne and this is something Daysy needs to address as a matter of urgency.

Im putting it on here rather than the other match post - a few points in MY view Andy Pugh has not been as impressive as i wished, a few of the players are not doing it at the moment and in the last ten minutes yesterday teo defenders staying back when we got throws and corners in a cup game not sure about that.
Steve King should walk into this team before his injury he was are best outfield player and Parkinson has had a few bad games - Sam Cuttler has shown as much football ability as a whale - Andy Sambrook is one of the worst passers of the ball I have ever seen and he is a bit of a sloth getting back.
People keep banging on about loui and Finn they not been bad they put a few crosses in, oh well we best have a willy tickle, Loui fades in and out like a DJ MIX and Finn does one trick out of ten that works and shoots like a one eyed bandit WE ALL KNOW THAT IS TRUE! I fill that due to the awful start to the season people are getting satisfied which are still well below par performances but slightly better then under Ford.
Jack please give the armband back, King has to walk into this team or even moonwalk his way in and we need some BIGGER, STRONGER players we look like we had seven dwarfs out there yestersday i thought snow white was going to don the red shirt.

Up the wings - CCCHHHHEEESSSSEEEE!
Dizzie, well said mate, lets hope King back on Saturday. As for midfiled do we move Clarkie up front ?, will Pugh be with us still ?... Day needs to find a Right back, a target man & get rid of the dead wood. His two signings so far have been a let down, so for me the jury still out on him as our unbeaten run was a down to taking over from Protheroe when Proth had sorted things & we met some weak teams at the right time... If you think back we hav'nt played anyone off the park this year, well maybe the Weston game..

I did say he messed up stating that we arent expected to beat them. Thats not the way to gee up everyone. We should have had every expectation to beat them.
Send the right signals out, not follishly but when the situation merits it. Its a learning curve for Jamie . He should be instilling confidence in the players, setting targets and also sending out positive vibes.
An opportunity missed by us we should have been in their faces early but the gaffer had stated that we arent expected to win. Thats why you get lethargic performances.
Cant rip into Jamie as he is learning, lets hope he learns from this mistake, it was a fairly big one and weve crashed out the trophy.
AGREE 100% get Morgan or Stevens on the bench and blodd them at the end of games or when injuries dictate. I said last week having a spare seat on a bench is unacceptable. Then we go and do it in a game where we can earn money. Another mistake.
Lets hope Jamie gees them up for the next game and next time these situations arise he does things a little differently. If he learns quickly the play offs are there, lets hope he tells the players thats what he wants and that they are playing for contracts for next season.

I did say he needs a right back, he probably got rid of the wrong guy when he kept Sambrook and outed Proths.
Ryan isnt a right back, would be better off playing Kinkg and Graham in the middle and jack at right back. BUT he needs an authordox right back but that means showing Sambrook the door.
There are strikers hammering the goals in in the stiffs, try them first.

I agree that being one light on the bench is ridiculous. I thought Stevens looked a decent prospect but again he is a bit lightweight to go with so many others.....
We all like to see nice passing football but it isn't always possible especially at this level of football. Finn and Faz in the same XI is one luxury to many - they produce far too little and are both too inconsistent. Clarke has a touch of class but might be suited to staying in midfield rather than up front (thanks to Mr Ford for getting him cup tied twice over)
We need some more power in the midfield and front positions. Happy to keep Pugh on for another month provided they get some big lump to play up there alongside him. Lawson may or may not be back in a couple of months but it will be asking a lot of him to come straight in and perform.
