Dartford will always have a bigger budget than us, look at the crowd yesterday what did we have 800+ I believe theg nearly 500 more than that and they were at home to Cray Wanderers.
To get a bigger budget we need sponsors and something to pull in the crowd every home game,
So what your saying is that when they come up next year we cannot compete with them off the field, maybe we should put it right nowgetting people through the turnstiles has got to be a must
I think alot of people in Welling are more interested in Millwall, Charlton, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Chelsea, Man U or Liverpool. They might turn up if we were in a cup run or at Wembley but they wouldn't bother for a league game.
Interesting comparison with Eurostar Athletic. They sold over 20,000 tickets for Wembley but when they went to Hayes for a Conference national game there were only 300 people there.
I have no sympathy for Gravesend and Northfleet / Ebbsfleet or whatever they want to call themselves this week. They took loads of money from people and it didnt work out .... partly because they were paying two players more than 50% of the wage budget for a season ... as admitted by Daish in the press over the summer ... ridiculous. Its failed big time and now they are in the sh1t. I hope they go down.
The point I was making regarding Ebbsfleet is that non-league teams will only ever get a hardcore of supporters unless they are top of the league, on a cup run or going to Wembley. Ebbsfleet is a case in point.
Bexley borough has a population of over 200,000, but less than 1% of the population are bothered about Welling. With wall to wall games on Sky you are not going to get many casual supporters going to Welling.
Long term (next season) could Ryan Johnson benefit most from being released, if Dartford get promoted and have a bigger budget with a larger/ newer stadia.
The Likes of Ryan and Steven King earlier/ mid twenties are on the way UP, whilst we have kept Sambrook (who can not run passed a player with the ball or overlap) who is on he's way DOWN (being factual without being horrible)must assume he is tied to a contract for season
Heard Carl Jenkinson is a better football player than Mambo - will not reach ROW Z with he's passes / clearances thou

My dear "greenhithewing" you've missed out a very important group that choose to follow a non-league football team other than the 'hardcore' lot. The section of society that I fall into which is the "totally mentally unstable" group. I could post some flyers around the 'home' where I'm looked after if it helps increase our numbers?
