I know times are hard and business must be struggling but looking around Broley's ground today they have lots of advertising and a it seems a well run club. In fact I have not been to another ground whose club house is worse than ours apart from Maidenhead which was truely shocking.
I am beginning to wonder if the club will ever make any headway for the reasons which have been stated such as Charlton etc.
Its true we need investment off the pitch as well as on it but am now genuinely concerned whether we will ever progress from where we are. If/should we ever reach the Conference Premiership we will be straight back as we do not have the fanbase or infrastructure needed to suceed at that level.
The type of thing that needs to be asked on the 8th .. must say ive never been in our bar, but did pop in to Bromleys today & yes it looks like a football clubs bar

Sorry for being so stupid but are you saying that the question that should be asked next week is this...... Why does name & dob not go in the Welling United's club house?
JAN 8 IS MEET THE MANAGER AND CO,NOT THE SHAREHOLDERS, THAT SAID SURE THEY WILL BE THERE WOULD BE NICE TO HEAR THERE VIEWS ON THE WAY FORWARD. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR SOME SUGGESTIONS FROM FORUM USERS,I DO THINK BKK IS ON MONEY WHEN HE SAID WHERE WE ARE IS THE BEST THATS GOING TO HAPPEN.
No Tiigger ive never been in our club house, but from what i hear, its run down & in need of some paint workbut im with BK on this one, i mean you go to other clubs & see how well they are run etc ..

Isn't that true of the majority of clubs ie that they would struggle badly if they went up to the Conference National? Our fanbase isn't bad for BSS but we'd either need an amazing Cup run or a wealthy new owner to really move forward. The trouble with the wealthy owner is that the money seems to dry up as often as not and it all goes horribly wrong.
I don't frequent the downstairs bar that often, I suppose a reason for it is that I am not tempted into it. Even if I went with a bundle of mates, I most likely would go to the Guy next door. For me what is important is "do I feel comfortable in this establishment"? I used to drink in the Harrow Inn at Abbey Wood, and although it was in need of redecoration, I felt comfortable inside and it had the pint that I drank. While I was studying for my Professional Management degree, two important factors were made clear to me, 1. Profit is key 2. Good governance.
In my humble opinion the management team have become stale and this could be due to it being a family run club. I'm sure they all work hard but it is about channeling the efforts in the right place. But maybe getting some pofessional business advise could be helpful.
Commercially we are inept. That has been the case for so long its untrue.
We arent like a normal non league club, we are more like sunday league team off the field. We never made the transition.
Barrie said recently they will listen to offers.
So all of you business giants out there pool some money form a consortium and change things.
Otherwise things will not change, we havent got the money to stock the shop we went for the cheapest option for the manager over 50 applicants (Hes done well but thats not the point in discussing the appointment). Our kit supplier sells our kit for £300 for the whole squad! They also sponsored Eastbourne for 30k this season.
We havent got the money to use on commercial activities. We need a massive cup run or they need to sell a percent of the club.
We have to put up with it unless, Teddy, Steve Holly and a few others get together and make an offer to take control. Anyone but Billings will do for me who have been around a while and have the clubs best interest at heart.

We're potless, end of. Just about living within our means. I don't know how much the club can afford it exactly, but they don't exactly put themselves about in the community. I've mentioned simple things before like flyers and kids ticket offer (like I noticed Bromley have) but if they haven't thought of it before now they never will. I don't think enough is done to get into the conscience of the local public. Another thing I noticed around the ground at Bromley yesterday was many adverts relating to their close ties with Bromley Council. The borough seem to take great pride in their local team. I doubt there's any chance of Bexley council showing us similar support is there? Nah, didn't think so! They're more interested in Charlton Athletic even though they're part of Greenwich!
Can't agree more with this thread. I mean, even their chairman came out and gave a speech (although it was a rather poor one!) to thank the fans. The bar(s) were much better than ours, I notice a lot of the Welling boys drink in the Nags Head rather than our clubhouse because quite frankly it's sh1t. There is a loss of income there aready ! Something has to be done.

Thing is do the owners of the club happy just to stay where they are I see nothing from them to try and improve things like this. If we dont start moving forward we will always struggle to get out of this league or maybe not because we could end up going down in years to come because we dont have the budget to keep decent players
But things will not change, it is impossible without some sort of injection of cash. Would the hobbins risk their future to try and go for it in a recession? They would be foolish to do so.
The best thing would be to get investment from one of those close to the club while keeping the major share. which i believe would leave them with 51% of the club.
To my Knowledge and this was on official company reports. Barrie Owned 49%, Barry owned 49% and Pam owned 2%. This may have changed since.
Would a consortium inject cash with a minority share? Would the Hobbins give up a majority share. Any investment should come while we are at Blue Square South level.
The investment wouldnt be for on field activities solely and the commercial arm should receive priority at the start. Build the foundation for growth.
Will it happen? Christ knows.
I think we have improved a lot in recent years by trying to improve and do things right. Sadly we are decades behind off the pitch, but what can honestly be done about it as things stand. Nothing at all without fresh investment.
Again, Barrie said he will listen to offers with Barry, i would take it no one has offered anything. We dont have the support base for 500 fans to invest 4 figures. We may have the base to buy a large share.
That will take 6 figures at least. Its easier if Steve Holly and or Teddy either buy into the club or arrange a supporters trust.
