Credit to Welling, the Wings well and truly clipped Countys and did so playing a brand of football I had forgotten existed in the Blue Square South.
This season at Spytty Park one tactic has existed for an away side, and that is to defend, defend, and defend. They normally do so with nine men behind the ball, two banks of four (or a bank of four and one of five) trying simply to stifle County and hold on for a point.
But Welling came to win and nearly did so, but for a last minute piece of heroics from Glyn Thompson, the visitors would have sneaked away with maximum points.
My first reaction is to credit Welling, they came here and played well, passed the ball well and its important we recognise that.
I am disappointed because we were 2-0 up and in that situation its uncharacteristic of us to switch off. But the result gives us a bit of a nudge, its a bit of a wake-up call and well move on.
We created enough chances to have won the game, but that happens sometimes. There was a lot of effort and endeavour, but Welling came and had a go.
Theyve got a very good away record, have picked up of late and you can see why, they came and made it an entertaining game, but it wasnt very professional of us not to close it out.
